Chapter 620 - Chapter 620: Touching the Holy Light

After returning to his quarters, Noah immediately sealed himself inside.

He even opened a Mirror Dimension.

He genuinely hadn't expected the Holy Light's pull to be this strong. Even with his firm will, he had nearly been drawn in.

It had to be said-light-aspected power was even more terrifying than dark or evil magic.

Resistance to it was abnormally low.

Because it was so righteous and positive, people lowered their guard without realizing it.

Now Noah finally understood those Blood Elves who had fallen into it. Without prior knowledge, there was no real defense against this kind of thing.

"I really should thank the people who kept exposing the truth behind the Holy Light."

Noah exhaled softly.

"At least that gave me some wariness toward it. Toward all power, really. Otherwise, I'd be another unlucky case."

Calming his mind, Noah carefully reviewed what he had sensed earlier.

Once he stripped away the seductive influence, the Holy Light itself was undeniably impressive.

Beyond physical enhancement and suppressing darkness, it carried a wide range of specialized effects.

Healing could be considered an entire branch of development on its own.

As for its offensive potential, Noah could sense it-but without fully understanding the Light, he couldn't judge it properly, let alone improve it.

After a brief pause, Noah spoke aloud.

"System. How's the analysis?"

"We have reached a preliminary conclusion," the system replied mechanically.

"Pure light energy is a form of intangible, faith-based power. It transcends race, worlds, and even the boundary between life and death. Its level is equivalent to your dark energy. You can learn it and achieve balance."

"That's good news." Noah nodded.

It really was.

That alone meant his goal in this universe was essentially complete.

After thinking for a bit, Noah continued, "So how do I learn it? Don't tell me I need to pray like those believers. I'm not cut out for that."

"There is no need for such measures," the system replied immediately.

"I can assist you."

"This power exists in this world-or rather, it exists everywhere. However, its latent state requires a specific method for you to access it."

"A specific method?" Noah rubbed his chin, quickly understanding.

Although the Holy Light was light energy, control over it differed across dimensions, universes, planes, and worlds.

The expression might look similar, but the essence was completely different.

Accessing it required a key.

Without one, you'd never even find the door.

On top of that, many things called "Holy Light" were fundamentally different in effect.

Now, the system had apparently found the door.

Thanks to Alonsus Faol's demonstration, Noah had already recognized this version of the Light.

Opening the door and extracting the power could be handled entirely by the system.

That realization excited him.

He had already resigned himself to leaving empty-handed.

He hadn't expected such a turn-especially not meeting Alonsus Faol, the true patriarch of the Silver Hand.

However, Noah quickly calmed himself as the system continued.

"Do not celebrate yet. Although the power has been located, acquiring it will take time."

"It takes time?" Noah frowned.

"Why? Is opening the door that hard?"

"Opening it is not difficult. Taking the power with you is," the system explained.

"This power normally requires faith. Have you ever seen anyone obtain it without faith? Or for free?"

"..."

Noah scratched his head.

"Aside from the Blood Elves, I can't think of anyone. My memory's fuzzy on the details."

"That is because those who developed self-awareness were a minority," the system replied calmly.

"They discarded the negative influence of the Light, but its marks remained. That outcome would be unfavorable to you."

"I seek the complete Holy Light. That requires time to crack its 'code.'"

Noah nodded.

That made sense.

In his memory, the Paladins who broke free were rare, and their strength did seem diminished.

The system didn't want that.

Neither did Noah.

Who would accept incomplete power?

And gathering it would take time.

That meant he had to abandon any thought of leaving immediately.

"Alright." Noah leaned his cheek against his hand.

"How long are we talking?"

"Don't tell me years. This universe is dangerous. I'd rather not get stuck here."

"You will not die," the system replied flatly.

"If you die, I die. Before that happens, I would attract the attention of the Void and have you taken away. The process will not take long-ten days to one month."

I'd rather die here.

Noah rolled his eyes.

Being dragged into the Void wasn't even an option.

And he strongly suspected that attracting the Void would also attract several other... unpleasant existences.

Shaking his head, Noah accepted the timeframe.

Ten days to a month was manageable.

Even if he caused trouble, he'd be gone before it mattered.

Time meant nothing to beings at that level anyway.

With his pressure lifted and his goal clear, Noah deactivated the Mirror Dimension.

He slept well, spent time reading in the system space, and waited.

He still couldn't act freely yet, but that wouldn't last long.

The next morning, Noah stepped out refreshed.

He planned to visit Goldshire for a drink, then see Alonsus Faol again.

Unfortunately, someone else had plans.

"What are you doing here?" Noah asked, looking at Lothar in surprise.

He snapped his fingers.

Two glasses of beer appeared instantly.

"Fresh Lion's Black Beer. Hopefully they won't mind me skipping the payment."

"Does this count as stealing right in front of me?" Lothar looked at the beer with a tired expression.

He pulled out a silver coin.

"Can you pay?"

"Of course." Noah nodded.

With a flick of his wrist, the coin vanished.

Only then did Noah sit down and lift his beer.

"So. What do you need?"

"Troublesome business." Lothar took a long drink and sighed.

"By the way, I heard you went to the Cathedral last night."

Noah wasn't surprised.

He nodded.

He hadn't hidden anything, and guards were present when he questioned civilians.

If Lothar didn't know, Noah would question his competence.

"I didn't expect a mage to visit a Cathedral," Lothar said.

"Alonsus is a good friend of mine. Did you meet him?"

"You know him?" Noah hadn't expected that, but nodded anyway.

"We met. A solid man. I was planning to see him again. This makes things easier."

Noah was quietly glad he hadn't asked Lothar about the priest earlier.

That could've turned awkward fast.

This way was better.

"Anyway." Lothar set down his empty glass, his expression serious.

"The King plans to meet the Orcs."

"What do you think?"

"What could I think?" Noah tilted his head.

"I'm not from this world. Any advice I give lacks context."

He paused.

"But I can guess why you're here."

"Oh?" Lothar raised a brow.

"That obvious?"

"You don't trust the Orcs. That's normal." Noah shrugged.

"What they've done is strange."

"You want me there because I've killed Orcs before. If nothing happens, fine. If it does, I step in. Right?"

Lothar didn't deny it.

From start to finish, he'd never trusted the negotiation.

And he was right.

Llane's meeting nearly ended in disaster.

Not because of Durotan-but because of Orgrim Doomhammer.

Later, even Orgrim admitted he should've trusted his Chieftain instead of Gul'dan.

Regret came too late.

Without Noah's interference, the Frostwolf Clan would've perished, and Gul'dan would've lasted far longer.

Noah rubbed his chin.

Should he interfere?

Both choices had merit.

He decided to wait and see.

"I'll go." Noah spoke plainly.

"I can help."

"I haven't even invited you yet," Lothar said helplessly.

"Though... you're not wrong."

"If I'm right, there's nothing more to say." Noah took another sip.

"By the way-do you have any other powerful mages?"

"Why?"

"As a spatial mage, I've noticed something off about the Dark Portal."

"It requires coordinates."

"Which means..." Noah looked at Lothar calmly.

"The Orcs were invited."

"Do you understand?"

"..."
