Chapter 613 - Chapter 613: Grey Skins in the Wreckage

"This is..."

Noah frowned.

A corpse lay pinned beneath the wreckage of a shattered carriage.

The body had completely lost its life essence. If not for the layer of shriveled flesh still clinging to it, Noah would have thought the person had been dead for a century.

He knelt down to examine it.

In the next instant, a pale golden glow flared around him.

A barrier snapped into place, completely enveloping his body.

Several figures hidden among the towering trees chose that moment to attack.

They had been waiting for him to lower his guard.

Noah had detected them long ago.

He wasn't about to let an ambush succeed.

A monster dropped from above and slammed a massive hammer into his magical shield.

The result was predictable.

The creature was flung backward by the recoil.

Moments later, a horde of monsters surged out from all directions, accompanied by the low blare of a horn.

Noah rose to his feet and quietly observed them.

His expression turned grim.

The moment he saw those hulking figures, he was almost certain where he had ended up.

This was very likely Azeroth.

And these grey or green brutes were undoubtedly Orcs.

He had played World of Warcraft long ago and seen the movie more than once.

He couldn't be mistaken.

No wonder Odin had repeatedly stressed that this universe was dangerous, terrifying, and demanded extreme caution.

It was this place.

Noah felt he never should have agreed to Odin's request to take a look.

No-why hadn't he restrained his curiosity?

Why did he have to come here to die?

For a moment, Noah genuinely wanted to channel his magic into the ring Odin had given him.

Then he saw the orange cat wrapped around his neck like a scarf, eyes half-closed as if asleep.

He forced himself to calm down.

With this cat here, at least he could put up a fight.

The only problem was that Noah knew this universe was connected to the Void.

Surely the Void Lords here weren't the creators of his system... right?

Whatever. I'll ask later.

Noah shook his head and pushed the thought aside as the Orcs charged.

After his battle with Dormammu, Noah's combat style had changed drastically.

He no longer held back.

Especially not against enemies who attacked him outright.

Pale golden magic surged through his hands.

Black runes spun wildly in the air.

The next moment, a wave of cold spread across the battlefield.

The Orcs at the front were frozen solid before they could even react.

Ice sculptures.

The chill was so intense that even Goose, dozing on Noah's neck, stirred, opened its eyes, and shuddered.

That alone showed how domineering the power was.

As Noah continued pouring in magic, more Orcs were frozen in place, permanently locked in ice.

Under his control, one green-skinned Orc was frozen mid-leap.

His corpse remained suspended in the air.

The fusion of Ice and Space was a technique Noah had already refined.

He had used it countless times against Dormammu.

The sight was terrifying.

The Orcs who had been slower to charge stopped dead in their tracks.

"Victory or Death" didn't mean they were stupid.

When faced with an overwhelming force, Orcs knew how to retreat.

But before they could, a powerful Orc draped in strange bones appeared before Noah.

This was the leader of the ambush.

Noah was certain of it.

At the same time, he sensed a terrifying surge of magic approaching the area.

It felt... familiar.

He shook his head and focused on the Orc before him.

Even as frost crept over its body and its face turned purple, it pressed forward without fear.

Noah decided to spare it.

A grey-skin, at least.

If it were green, I'd send it straight to hell.

Or purple.

Noah's magic surged.

Tiny points of light appeared on the Orc's left hand.

As the light spread, the hand shattered like glass.

In an instant, the entire left palm was gone.

To Noah's surprise, the Orc only let out a single cry before clenching its teeth and falling silent.

The endurance was impressive.

That alone made Noah more interested.

After a moment's thought, he left a few marks on the creature and withdrew his magic.

He felt like he'd seen a similar scene before.

But he couldn't quite recall where.

Maybe it was the Orcs themselves.

In his eyes, they had no names.

No health bars.

How was he supposed to tell them apart?

"Get lost," Noah said calmly. "Before I change my mind."

Since he didn't know the exact timeline, he let them go.

Whether they understood him-or whether any hidden bosses were among them-was none of his concern.

He didn't plan to stay long.

Find the Silver Hand.

Learn the secrets of the Holy Light.

Leave this universe.

That was it.

Ignoring the Orcs-though he wouldn't hesitate to kill them if they kept seeking death-Noah closed his eyes and questioned the system.

This universe was too bizarre.

Too dangerous.

It was even connected to the Void.

That was not something Noah wanted to deal with.

The Orcs clearly understood that the human before them was not someone to provoke.

They regrouped, but showed no intent to attack, slowly retreating instead.

"System," Noah asked internally, "this is Azeroth, right? Is the Void Lord here your master?"

"This is Azeroth," the system replied in its cold, mechanical tone.

"But the Void Lord of this universe is not my master."

"The Void Lord is a member of the Void. A powerful one. He is a friend of my master, the Lord of the Void-nothing more."

"Can your master find this place?" Noah pressed.

"Will I be in trouble?"

"No," the system answered calmly.

"The Void is vast. My master has not come here. Furthermore... my master would not necessarily act against you."

Wouldn't necessarily.

Noah pursed his lips.

He didn't like probabilities.

He wasn't willing to gamble on a fifty-percent chance.

The safest option was simple.

Don't provoke beings like that.

Who knew what they were thinking?

All he wanted was to grow stronger in peace.

He'd deal with the future when it arrived.

"Right," Noah suddenly realized.

"If I provoke Sargeras here, will my original universe be affected?"

"First," the system replied, "he targets universes susceptible to Void corruption."

"Second... forget it. Knowing more will not benefit you. Top-tier Void lifeforms are beyond your comprehension."

"I was created by the Lord of the Void. While I cannot prevent your death, I can prevent your origins from being discovered."

"I see," Noah muttered.

"By the way, can you teach me the languages here? I can't even communicate. How am I supposed to blend in?"

"This universe is not lacking in Astral Mages," the system said flatly.

"Medivh can do it. Why can't you?"

Noah almost cursed out loud.

Medivh?

That was the son of the Guardian Magna Aegwynn.

The man who resisted Sargeras's soul for years.

A mage powerful enough to rival gods.

By any standard, Medivh was at least Tenth-Tier.

How was Noah supposed to compare?

He wasn't even confident he could beat a young Khadgar before the curse turned him old.

Noah shook his head.

One step at a time.

His only hope was that this was the movie universe.

Not the games.

Not the novels.

He remembered the movie far better.

In his previous life, he'd played World of Warcraft, but only sporadically.

He couldn't always afford the subscription.

By the time he had free time, the game had already passed its peak.

He hadn't studied the lore deeply.

He knew only the basics.

His enhanced memory didn't fill gaps.

It only sharpened what he already knew.

The movie, though, he had watched several times.

A way to relive those days in front of an old monitor.

If this was the movie universe, he could manage.

If it was the game...

As Noah was thinking, a group of soldiers began to surround him.
