Noah really wanted to ask Odin whether this counted as a threat.
But he chickened out.
Honesty felt safer.
Who knew if the King of the Gods was serious?
A world that even Odin considered dangerous didn't exactly sound suitable for him.
Still, now that Odin had found one, not going would bother him.
A lot.
After weighing it for a moment, Noah decided to go.
Otherwise, he would regret it.
Once the decision was made, a trace of excitement surfaced.
After all, he had waited a long time for the Light Element.
It would be dangerous.
It would be difficult.
But as long as he didn't go looking for trouble, he should be fine.
Probably.
Rubbing his chin, Noah decided to bring Goose.
With that cat around, he'd feel safer.
I was just thinking this guy was freeloading, and now I have to put it to work.
Sometimes timing really was perfect.
Odin didn't give him much time to prepare, so Noah didn't waste any either.
There was only one thing he hadn't clarified.
"How long will this trip take?"
"No need to worry," Odin said with a smile.
"Since you've decided, I'll tell you. As long as you don't die, you'll return within a month of when you leave-even if you stay there for over ten years."
Noah nodded.
That simplified things.
At least he wouldn't neglect his own universe.
Of course, he caught the key condition.
As long as you don't die.
That alone said enough.
That universe was dangerous.
Which only reinforced his decision to bring Goose.
Even if the cat wasn't needed, having it nearby couldn't hurt.
With everything settled, Noah moved quickly.
He returned to his sanctum first and grabbed Goose, who was in the middle of bullying Hathaway.
Ignoring the cat's displeased expression, Noah said his goodbyes to Ms. Haifin and the others.
They were curious, but they didn't pry.
Given Noah's position and strength, disappearing for dangerous matters was normal.
Hermione understood as well.
She looked a little down, but she smiled and wished him well.
That left Noah briefly at a loss for words.
Finally, he went to Kamar-Taj.
After hearing Noah's decision, the Ancient One wasn't surprised.
"Odin said this would be dangerous," she sighed softly.
"Since you've chosen it, do your best. But be careful."
"I understand, Teacher," Noah said lightly.
"I'm bringing Goose. I also have the Time Stone and the Space Stone. As long as I'm cautious, nothing should go wrong."
"The Flerken?" The Ancient One nodded.
"A wise choice. Return immediately once your mission is done."
"When you return, you'll need to prepare for certain things."
"Prepare?" Noah tilted his head.
He didn't know what she meant.
But he didn't worry about it.
"Understood. I'll protect myself."
After that, Noah brought the reluctant Goose to Asgard.
When Odin saw the Flerken, he paused.
Was this kid planning to destroy a world, or find light-element power?
Either way, bringing a Flerken would make things safer.
The creature clearly trusted Noah.
Odin didn't comment.
He simply opened a spatial portal and handed Noah a ring.
Noah knew what it was.
A communicator.
When his task was done, Odin would know.
Nodding, Noah stepped into the portal with Goose in his arms.
Just before he left, Odin stopped him.
"Stay safe," Odin said, patting his shoulder.
"And you should move faster too. I'm preparing for Thor to inherit the throne."
"Inherit the throne?" Noah froze for a moment, then understood.
"Yes. But before that, I still need your help with one more matter. Do well. And as Sorcerer Supreme, you need to push yourself harder."
"I understand," Noah replied.
"I'll return and offer my blessings. Let's not tell Thor I'm leaving. If he tries to follow, that'll be troublesome for you."
"True," Odin said.
"Though if he insists, I won't stop him."
"Then I'll be going."
Noah turned and left.
A flash of blue light followed.
Perhaps due to his recent battles, the spatial tunnel felt unstable.
Noah felt slightly dizzy.
But he adapted quickly.
The passage was short.
And then-
He landed safely.
No crash.
No vomiting gods.
For the first time, inter-universal travel didn't end in disaster.
Thank goodness.
Thinking back, Thor and Loki were clearly the problem.
Good thing I didn't bring them.
Acting alone really is more convenient-
Wait.
Alone?
Noah paused.
Where was his cat?
He looked around.
Goose was gone.
That was bad.
Before he could react, an orange blur fell from the sky with a sharp meow.
It slammed straight into his face.
Man and cat rolled together.
"Alright," Noah said, grabbing Goose by the scruff while rubbing his face.
"Everyone's here."
He had sensed the fall but hadn't raised a shield.
His face hurt.
Fortunately, his neck was intact.
"Meow," Goose complained.
Noah set the cat down and surveyed the surroundings.
They were in a forest.
A massive one.
Towering trees surrounded them, their trunks thick and ancient.
The canopy was so dense that sunlight barely filtered through.
Looking up, Noah could tell it was daytime.
The stray beams of light were enough to see clearly.
This was a primeval forest.
Untouched.
More importantly-
This wasn't Earth.
Many of the plants didn't exist there.
Thank you, Professor Sprout.
And Professor Snape.
At least I can tell that much.
Picking up Goose, Noah prepared to leave.
Without knowing his location, teleporting was risky.
He might end up inside a mountain.
He started to fly-
Then he felt it.
A power.
Indescribable.
Utterly evil.
Not like Dormammu's darkness.
This thing fed on life.
It corrupted everything.
"What is this?" Noah frowned.
Instinctively, he walked toward it.
Carefully.
He draped Goose around his neck like a scarf, stabilizing the cat with magic.
At the same time, he activated the Star of Time and Space.
Deep blue energy flowed quietly.
If anything went wrong, he would leave instantly.
With preparations complete, Noah moved forward.
Soon, he reached a clearing.
Broken remains of a carriage lay scattered.
Green energy still lingered, drifting like smoke.
Noah's expression darkened.
Even standing near it made him feel his life force being consumed.
What kind of power was this?
He searched his memory.
There weren't many energies like this.
And then-
He felt it.
Several more.
Hovering above him.
Waiting.
