Jin didn't answer right away.
He sat there on the high stool with the full glass of golden liquor in front of him and the colored lights turning slowly overhead, and he looked at Lucy. At the warm, easy smile. At the golden eyes, bright and patient and far too sharp.
He thought about lying.
It would have been easy. Lucy couldn't prove anything. Jin could tell him he was Muramasa, that whatever Lucy thought he was feeling was wrong. He could keep up the act the way he had with the villagers, and Haruka, and everyone else in this world.
But Lucy already knew. Jin could see it in his face. A lie wouldn't fool him. It would only tell him that Jin was afraid of the truth.
So he didn't lie.
"I'm his student," Jin said.
Lucy went very still.
Then he threw his head back and laughed.
