Time passed by...
The road stretched endlessly, boots scuffing through dust that hadn't seen any visitors for a thousand years.
Reinhardt rode at the head. Behind him, a thousand-plus knights from the Dawnbringers walked or rode in loose formation, their usual banter worn down by the afternoon heat into something close to silence.
Beside him, Leona wiped her brow with the back of her gauntlet. The leather came away damp. She'd been counting paces for the last hour just to keep her mind occupied, and the number had long since stopped meaning anything.
Her hair, bound tight at her nape, felt heavy with dust and sweat.
What she wouldn't give for cold water. Not the lukewarm swill from their supplies, but natural spring water, enough to submerge herself, to scrub the road from her skin.
"Commander!"
Just then, a voice came from ahead. Two scouts came back from their patrol and approached the group.
Reinhardt raised a hand, and the column halted.
"What's wrong?" he questioned.
