Ella was still reeling from the happiness of being engaged. Even after Alexander had left the estate for a meeting, she couldn't stop looking at the ring on her finger.
She had gone to see her father, eager to tell him the news, but she was informed that he was resting. So she had returned to her room and spent the next few minutes lying on her bed, staring at the ceiling with a ridiculous smile on her face.
'I'm engaged.' The thought still felt surreal. She lifted her hand and admired the ring again. 'I'm actually engaged to Alexander. A smile tugged at her lips. She was still staring at the diamond when her phone chimed. Ella reached for it. It was a message from Cassandra.
Cass: Are you free? Take a walk with me.
Ella immediately sat up. [Of course.] She replied, then typed another message. [Where are you?]
The response came almost immediately. Cass: I'm downstairs.
