Chapter 492 - 492: This is... an Ender Dragon egg?

The formerly lifeless Gringotts instantly erupted into chaos.

The goblins behind the counters and the wizards handling their business in the lobby were all startled by the spell.

Then Dumbledore immediately cast another spell and restrained everyone in the entire hall.

For a moment, forget moving. They couldn't even move their eyes.

The moment Dumbledore finished casting, he tossed the compass from his pocket over to Kasenhis.

Kasenhis caught it and immediately understood what Dumbledore meant.

Since Dumbledore was maintaining the spell, the task of using the Explorer's Compass to further narrow down the Horcrux's location had to fall to him.

Though perhaps the real reason was that Dumbledore simply didn't want to keep chanting that ridiculous incantation.

After all, did anyone seriously think a room full of people like this could hard-control Dumbledore?

Tsk, tsk, tsk...

Kasenhis certainly didn't believe it.

While thinking that, he kept chanting under his breath and walked around the lobby with the compass in hand.

Eventually, he found a particular spot.

The needle on the compass instantly began trembling violently.

Dumbledore raised his head slightly.

"Found it?"

Kasenhis nodded and snapped his fingers.

"Mind your eyes!"

A flashbang popped straight out from his fingertips.

"Damn it, I got flashbanged for no reason!"

Dumbledore completely lost his composure after being blinded out of nowhere.

Kasenhis, meanwhile, seized the moment and immediately dug three blocks down.

The instant Dumbledore jumped into the hole as well, Kasenhis directly filled the top block back in.

"We're seriously going down like this?" Dumbledore asked helplessly after entering the pit Kasenhis had dug.

"Obviously. You really should experience my vertical mining method."

As Kasenhis spoke, he pulled out a diamond pickaxe without hesitation and started digging straight down.

Duang, duang, duang, duang.

Dumbledore kept dropping along with him.

Almost every fall was exactly one metre.

That alone showed just how outrageous the strain on the knees of a man over a hundred years old should have been.

And yet Dumbledore looked perfectly fine.

His expression didn't change at all.

Even an Astartes couldn't compete with knees like that.

Thunk!

Kasenhis swung his pickaxe again.

The familiar sensation of falling came immediately.

But this time, it wasn't the usual one-metre drop.

It felt more like some kind of extreme sport.

Like skydiving.

Except without a parachute.

"What happened?" Dumbledore asked.

Kasenhis rubbed his chin.

"Hmm. The vertical mining method comes with all kinds of minor issues. For example, sometimes we dig into a cavern and suddenly fall straight through."

Dumbledore nodded.

"So what do we do now? Do you have a solution?"

"I do, brother, I do!"

Kasenhis confidently pulled out a bucket of water.

"We just need to pour this water onto the ground one second before we hit it. Then we can completely avoid fall damage."

Dumbledore nodded.

"You even have a method like that?"

Kasenhis lowered his head and looked at the floor rapidly getting closer beneath them.

"Of course! Just watch what I can do!"

Crack!

Thud!

Splash...

"I think... I messed up."

Kasenhis looked awkwardly at Dumbledore, who was lying on the ground like a puddle of liquid, and apologetically pulled out a healing potion.

Kasenhis himself was naturally completely fine.

After all, when Netherite bones hit stone slabs, it was the stone slabs that were getting attacked in the most literal sense.

Kasenhis pulled out a sponge and absorbed all the nearby water, only then creating a somewhat dry environment for the injured man.

"Dumbledore, I'm going to treat your injuries now," Kasenhis said solemnly.

Dumbledore, who had already used magic to block out his own pain, looked at Kasenhis with instinctive distrust.

"I think you can just leave me here. Go find the Horcrux yourself, then take me to Madam Pomfrey or St Mungo's."

"Please trust me. I'm giving this my full effort."

Kasenhis said that, but his hands never stopped moving.

Crack, crack.

He straightened Dumbledore's broken legs back into place.

Because if he didn't do that first and simply used a healing potion, there was a very real chance Dumbledore's legs would heal into the shape of an ECG waveform.

After painstakingly resetting every bone in both legs, Kasenhis finally splashed Instant Health Potion over them.

...

"Kasenhis, you not becoming a doctor is truly a great loss to the medical profession," Dumbledore said after fully recovering and sitting up.

"Right? I told you I'm talented in all kinds of things," Kasenhis said happily.

"Yes. And if you were a little better at watching your surroundings, perhaps you might consider looking behind you," Dumbledore said faintly.

"Hmm?"

Only then did Kasenhis suddenly look around.

This wasn't a specific vault.

It was a massive underground shaft beneath Gringotts, with individual vault entrances spiralling around the walls along the ascending passages.

"Behind you," Dumbledore reminded him for the second time.

Kasenhis turned around.

"Grr..."

An enormous pitch-black dragon head was staring at him.

Merlin knew how long it had been watching.

And right now, its jaws were opening as faint firelight began glowing deep inside its throat.

"Go tell that to my orbital dragon-slaying cannon!"

The next instant, the dragon froze in the middle of preparing to breathe fire.

Its entire body seemed to lose its weight and floated upward like a helium balloon until it hung near the top of the shaft.

Purple and white light burst outward from inside its body.

Bang!

In the end, the dragon's corpse transformed into a pitch-black pixelated dragon egg sparkling with purple motes of light and fell downward.

Kasenhis instinctively reached out to catch it.

But he quickly realised something.

A torch appeared in his hand.

Sure enough, the Ender Dragon Egg landed perfectly on top of the torch.

Pop!

The dragon egg, which had originally been larger than Kasenhis's head, suddenly shrank into a palm-sized egg and dropped into his hand.

"What is that?" Dumbledore asked.

Kasenhis scratched his head like a confused cat, equally baffled.

But he didn't stay confused for long.

"This is my... pet."

He paused.

"Would you mind if I kept a dragon in my office?"

"If you can keep it under control and tolerate Hagrid running into your office eight times a day, I have no objections," Dumbledore said with a shrug.
