"Demons and monsters, begone... Does this thing actually work?"
After reciting the first line, Dumbledore looked at Kasenhis with obvious distrust.
"Of course it does! Keep chanting. Can't you see the needle has already started moving?" Kasenhis urged excitedly.
Dumbledore sighed helplessly, holding an instrument that looked remarkably similar to a compass.
Fortunately, Kasenhis hadn't spent all his time inside the chimney fooling around. Using the power of "I reckon this should work," he had handcrafted an Explorer's Compass.
But since it had been created through the power of "I reckon," naturally, it came with limitations.
For example, it couldn't directly search for or track Voldemort himself. It could only use Voldemort's soul as a target, specifically the fragments Dumbledore had extracted earlier.
On top of that, using the compass required a specific incantation.
And Kasenhis, who had never properly attended a single day of magical school, could only think of one respectable incantation.
"Alright... Demons and monsters, begone... Demons and monsters, begone..."
Dumbledore helplessly continued chanting.
The needle, which had been trembling violently moments earlier, gradually settled down until it finally pointed steadily in one direction.
"Did it work, or did it just stop moving?" Dumbledore asked, looking at Kasenhis.
Kasenhis wasn't actually sure either.
But he was clever enough to take the compass from Dumbledore, turn himself ninety degrees, and watch what happened.
The needle smoothly adjusted along with him and continued pointing in exactly the same direction.
"No problem."
Kasenhis raised an eyebrow and handed the compass back.
"So I still have to keep chanting?" Dumbledore asked helplessly.
"I'm afraid so, Headmaster sir," Kasenhis said with a shrug.
"Sigh... Demons and monsters, begone... Demons and monsters, begone..."
"Oh, right. Are you two seriously planning to walk the whole way? What if the Horcrux is really far away? Won't you have to walk for ten days or half a month?"
Sirius watched the two of them leave Black's old house, only to suddenly remember this rather serious problem.
Kasenhis gave Sirius a pitying look.
He said nothing.
An Ender field simply enveloped both him and Dumbledore, and the two instantly teleported five kilometres forward.
They lowered their heads and checked the compass.
After five kilometres, the direction had shifted slightly.
They corrected their course and teleported again.
The two had set out in the morning.
By noon, they decided to grab something to eat in Diagon Alley.
Of course, that wasn't the only reason.
The Explorer's Compass was pointing here.
There was a very good chance Voldemort's Horcrux was hidden somewhere in Diagon Alley.
For example, right now, Kasenhis was sitting at a dining table waiting for their food while staring at the compass on the table.
Then he followed the direction of the needle with his eyes.
Gringotts.
"What method did Tom use to access the soul and magic of a Horcrux remotely and create those false bodies without physically touching the Horcrux itself?" Dumbledore murmured curiously with a frown.
"Why are you assuming he never touched the Horcrux instead of simply putting it back after he finished using it?" Kasenhis asked curiously.
"Because of his personality. If you went to the bathroom to get some toilet paper and brought it back to your bedroom, after you were finished, would you deliberately take the toilet paper all the way back to the bathroom?"
Dumbledore turned toward Kasenhis and gave an extremely vivid example.
Kasenhis shook his head.
"I've never experienced that, so... as someone who likes men, you use toilet paper in the bedroom too?"
Dumbledore very naturally filtered out Kasenhis's final jab and instead looked at him in surprise.
"I think you're the stranger one in that regard."
Kasenhis still wanted to keep going, like asking why Dumbledore had used toilet paper as an example in the first place. The value of the two things wasn't even remotely on the same level.
It was a terrible analogy.
But before he could ask, lunch arrived.
"Eat. Once we're done, we still have work to do. Gringotts is an independent institution outside every other system, so neither the Order of the Phoenix nor the Ministry can control it. I'm afraid we'll have to do the hard work ourselves."
Dumbledore picked up the burger in front of him and took a bite.
"I really don't think it'll be a problem. Gringotts is basically the magical equivalent of a Swiss bank. It's not like they have an army stationed inside, right?" Kasenhis said with a shrug.
"No army, but they do have a dragon," Dumbledore explained.
"A dragon?"
Kasenhis scratched his head.
His orbital dragon-slaying cannon had never failed him before.
And although the orbital dragon-slaying cannon had fired more than once over the years, most of its targets had actually been people.
As for its actual job, slaying dragons...
Come to think of it, it had never done that even once.
Mainly because there had never been a proper opportunity.
Kasenhis had only encountered a handful of dragons in total.
Cedric had taken care of the dragon in the tournament, while the other dragons had been beaten into dragon-hide carpets by the Hogwarts Titan.
"In this magnificent magical world, I've never actually slain a dragon myself. That's kind of a failure," Kasenhis sighed helplessly.
"Why would that be something you regret?" Dumbledore asked, looking at him speechlessly.
...
Full and satisfied!
After finishing their meal and paying the bill, Dumbledore led Kasenhis into an empty alley.
Then he pulled two black stockings and two Voldemort masks out of his pocket.
"Pick one."
Kasenhis stared at the two options Dumbledore had produced, his face twisting into an expression of pure agony.
"Couldn't you make this even slightly more respectable?"
Dumbledore helplessly put the items away.
"Then you do it."
Kasenhis waved his hand, and a huge pile of blocky heads appeared.
There was everything from Steve heads to black skeleton heads.
"My God, Kasenhis. With masks in this art style, any normal person who sees them will immediately think of you," Dumbledore said helplessly.
"These things sell at least double digits every day at Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes. You seriously didn't know?"
Kasenhis pulled a Creeper head over his own head, then directly shoved a zombie head onto Dumbledore's.
After that, he drew his wand and started walking toward Gringotts.
"Has he never considered using something like an Invisibility Potion or a Disillusionment Charm?" Dumbledore sighed helplessly as he stared at the fearless robber marching ahead of him.
Before long, Dumbledore caught up with Kasenhis.
The two stepped through the doors of Gringotts at the same time.
"What are we supposed to say?" Kasenhis whispered into Dumbledore's ear.
"What is there to say during a robbery?"
Dumbledore's blocky head tilted slightly.
He raised his wand and fired a spell into the ceiling.
Bang!
