Apologies for not posting the other day.
There was no fight or struggle, they simply went limp and stood up from their grovelling position and awaited orders.
"..." Ares frowned at the display of power from the anti-life equation, as a higher being he could sense their wills being overwritten completely, and he immediately understood what it meant that if someone has no will they have no life.
Light poured into the room instantly and other light flashed differently than before. Now, because Lex had genetically and magically evolved the krptonian DNA, he could almost see a blur leave the room. That would be Hermes, collecting his toll and delivering the souls to the ferryman. This much Lex could surmise on his own with his knowledge and observation.
"Ho, you are telling me you caught a glimpse of my brother? Hahaha, humans have really come a long way to spit in the face of gods." Ares chuckled as he turned his face to the floor-ceiling window.
Lo and behold, the ferryman appeared almost instantaneously, ferrying away two souls in the boat that clung to each other, still trembling in fear from the aftermath.
"Ares… do you understand the kind of power I wield in my hands?" Lex smiled and adjusted his coat. This time he addressed the god of war casually.
"... You know… being the god of war, doesn't just mean I am brute. I want you to–" Ares said, smilingly menacingly at Lex and without turning to move, with his back facing Lex, Ares charged Lex with back like a ramming bull. The helmet on Ares's head morphed to that of one with large horns as the effect of the charging increased a hundred-fold!
Lex, taken aback by this sudden action didn't even have time to cough out blood when he was already sent flying thousands of miles away from the castle!
Lion headed gauntlets appeared on Ares's fists as he launched an uppercut to the surprised Lex, sending him even further.
Calculating Lex's trajectory, Ares's sandals and helmet morphed to have little wings on them as he sped past Lex, dropped a drachma coin and a carriage appeared instantaneously! Ares flew up and guided Lex inside the carriage, the doors locked automatically as Lex recovered immediately but Ares reacted faster and threw him out of the carriage, into the world of the living once more.
Lex getting a feel for his surroundings in microseconds immediately charged at Ares for such insolence but pulled his punch at the last second, creating a ten-mile triangular crater behind Ares the god of war. Luckily they were in a plain field with no humans in sight, but that wasn't the case for the birds or animals that inhabited the plains.
"Are you surrendering?" Lex asked, the annoyance in his voice evident as wounds Ares inflicted on him began healing slowly much to the distaste of the god of war who put up a hand as if to declare surrender.
"No. I merely showed what it means to have someone like me as a reliable god on your side in this coming war." Ares said, putting down his hand as Lex mirrored his movement.
"If you can be sure of the power of those who stand with you, what greater assistance is there in this war, especially knowing who I am and the effect of wars on me and me on wars?" Ares concluded his confident smile resembled that of a bully that remained undefeated.
Even though Ares prepared a confident proposal like this, he had to word it carefully and not sully his status as a god by being subservient to a not-so-mortal-like-being. But he knew when to stop and when to advance, he knew which side had the hidden dark horse for the war ahead and wanted to take it for himself before any was wiser.
Seeing through the gods' ploy, Lex couldn't fault the Olympian, he was a god true to his position, even his tactics to get them where they were was incredibly bold, high stakes with higher rewards. But… Lex wasn't one for partnerships. He worked better alone.
"Even without reading your thoughts, it's clear what you are thinking Lex. Working alone won't end well for you, it won't end well for us." Ares said, his feet hadn't touched the ground ever since as he hovered with his eyes narrowed.
'The weapons I used just to push him back takes a whole Helios journey just to use again. I still have more in my arsenal but to not leave a fatal wound so far? It means I would have to use everything against him instantly to end it and tear the glyphs from his soul to gain the anti-life equation before my brother ferries him away. It won't take me long to put the parameters together in the right order given that I would have already obtained all. To think mortals have really come this far… if he doesn't agree in the next two seconds, I will end this.' Ares thought while wearing his confident smile and a relaxed gesture.
"Follow me then." Lex said as he flew off, arriving at the top of Lex corp in half a second along with Ares who appeared there.
'Teleportation, not speed this time. And his teleportation only happened after I got here. Considering the fact that he was using different weapons to club me with certain time intervals between changes… he is a god of war after all…' Lex thought as the window panels slid open for his entry into his office where he found Mercy Graves sitting on his chair with her legs on his desk, giving an up skirt view to no one as she scrolled through videos on her phone her free hand between her legs as moans filled the office.
She was unaware that two higher beings had entered her bosses' office as she leaned forward, almost in fetal position as her moans got louder until…
"On my chair? I am cutting your check for the next few months." Lex said as Mercy yelped and fell over much to the amusement of the god of war.
"Money, power, women. The man with everything anyone could ever want, yet…" Ares said, his form illuminating the room.
It wasn't hard for Mercy to understand that the person beside Lex wasn't normal and subconsciously bowed her head till she heard Lex's tongue tick, an annoying habit of his especially when things don't go his way forced Mercy to snap out of it and looked back at her boss, saluting him with a smile and messy hair.
"I am sorry boss, I don't know what came over me… I was doing the–"
"Enough, leave us… no clean up first." Lex said as he turned to face Ares.
"Now for your answer. First allow me to introduce you to my assistant…" Lex said as Ares found a portal opening, apparently Lex had somehow given the masturbating bodyguard a code to quickly draw some magic circles to summon Tala.
Tala cat walked out of portal gracefully and laid eyes on the god of war, her charm nearly irresistible as Ares smiled, nearly forgetting his mission, but his smile soon flattened out.
"A demon?" Ares pointed out, but his voice carried intrigue rather than disgust.
"Does that displease you my lord?" Tala asked with a respectful bow, to the being still flying above while Mercy started cleaning up now.
"I only have one request. Take me to Prometheus." Lex said with a glint in his eye.
"... Why is that? Do you intend to release him? You will incur father's wrath… hmm, that pleases me but, I hate cunning people like you." Ares said, silently weighing the options. If Lex wanted he could have just tried using that forbidden power on him to do his bidding, he knew that, he knew that Lex knew that, he knew that Lex knows about his desire to be with the dark horse of the upcoming war. There was only so much he could do now, even if he could resist its powers he would be left in a vulnerable state for Lex to do as he pleases.
