There was a heaviness in the room that one could cut with a chainsaw.
Kolli and I had arguments in the past. God, we had. I didn't think there was a fortnight that could pass without an explosive argument between us. We were too hard headed, too filled with pride that we never deescalated a fight until we missed each other so much that we just came to a mutual understanding. A truce made of exhaustion and longing.
Kolli however was always the first one to take that step. He always went above and beyond to make me understand why my actions hurt him and what I could do to fix it. He'd sit me down, explain it like I was worth teaching. I tried. In the beginning, I really tried. But somewhere along the line my arrogance took over. My schedule got fuller. My name got bigger. I stopped trying to make the effort.
