Chapter 688: Final Battle of the Chaotic Demon Sea: Lin Langtian Makes His Move
Chaotic Demon Sea, Flame God Temple.
This place had become the headquarters of the Chaotic Demon Sea Alliance. Across the boundless sky, countless streaks of light flashed by.
The world was livelier than ever; its vitality was many times greater than it had been a year ago.
The reason was simple: hanging above this region was the Ancestral Palace, which countless experts coveted.
At the palace gates, several figures stood straight and tall, fierce auras pouring from their bodies.
All of them were super experts of the Reincarnation precursor stage.
Below the Ancestral Palace, unending envious gazes watched the lucky few who managed to pass the screening and enter.
Over the past year, several such Reincarnation precursor experts had broken through within, stepping into the Reincarnation Stage that so many revered.
Thanks to this, the three alliances—including the Monster Alliance and the Four Xuan Regions Alliance—had grown ever stronger, turning the tide against the Yimo and steadily seizing the upper hand.
At that moment, deep within the Ancestral Palace's shattered stone square, an ancient statue suddenly shimmered with light.
From within, a tall, handsome figure in green slowly stepped out.
It was Lin Langtian.
As he emerged, he looked around this familiar place, and the loneliness and desolation that ten years of bitter cultivation had etched into his dark eyes slowly gave way to warmth and life.
Drawing a deep breath of fresh air, he smiled faintly and walked forward.
On his way out of the Ancestral Palace, he occasionally encountered other cultivators within, all of them extremely powerful.
They stared in a daze as Lin Langtian passed. Only after he had gone by did they suddenly react.
"That was… Elder Lin Langtian?!"
Within the Chaotic Demon Sea Alliance, Lin Langtian was one of the founding elders, standing shoulder to shoulder with the Ancient Masters.
His status was exalted beyond measure—no wonder they were so shocked to see him.
"So Elder Lin Langtian was cultivating in the Ancestral Palace… no wonder he's been missing for so long…" the whispers spread, their hearts pounding hard.
None of them had felt the slightest trace of Yuan Power or spiritual power from him in passing.
Clearly, this did not mean he was weak. There was only one explanation: Lin Langtian's strength had reached a realm they could not even begin to fathom.
He ignored their commotion and strode toward the gates.
Just as he was about to leave, a figure stepped into his path.
"Brother, have you just finished cultivating? Please register before you go. Which alliance are you from?"
Lin Langtian blinked, then smiled faintly as something occurred to him. Before he could speak, another man rushed over and dragged the first aside.
The newcomer gave Lin Langtian a deep, respectful smile. "Elder Lin Langtian, this man just arrived and doesn't recognize you yet. Please forgive his offense."
"Elder Lin Langtian?"
The examiner's eyelid twitched at the name. A heartbeat later, he stared at Lin Langtian in wild excitement.
"It's fine…" Lin Langtian chuckled and shook his head. Then, as if remembering something, he asked, "You just asked which alliance I belonged to. Does that mean even the Monster Domain and the Four Xuan Regions have been dragged in and formed alliances as well?"
"Yes," the man said quickly. "The Monster Alliance's leader is Lord Lin Marten, with Lin Jinwu as his deputy. The Four Xuan Regions Alliance is led by Lord Lin Qingtan, with Zhou Tong as deputy."
"Oh? Little Marten and Golden Crow, Qingtan and Zhou Tong… all old acquaintances," Lin Langtian said with a small nod and a smile.
The creation of the Monster and Four Xuan Regions alliances did not surprise him; that much had happened in the original timeline as well.
He had not expected Jinwu and Zhou Tong to take the deputy positions, though. That was new.
No doubt another ripple caused by his presence.
"Also, Elder Lin Langtian, the Ancient Masters recently sent word for all three alliances to purge the Demonic Prison's remnants and then gather every force available to march on the Western Xuan Region and wipe out the Yimo plaguing the land.
"Our Chaotic Demon Sea Alliance's armies have already moved under the Fire Fairy's command. They're locked in a decisive battle with the Demonic Prison's forces on the front lines. But the latest reports suggest the fighting there is stalemated," the man continued respectfully.
"In that case, I'll go take a look," Lin Langtian replied with a slight nod, not hesitating.
Because of his interference, Lin Dong had not gained the Taishang Power early and would need more time than before within the Ancestral Palace.
Without Lin Dong as a powerful new pillar of strength, Lin Langtian had to shoulder that responsibility himself.
Still, he had a feeling Lin Dong's seclusion would not last much longer. Since the Symbol Ancestor himself had stepped in to correct the butterfly effects Lin Langtian had caused, the path to becoming the Martial Ancestor would now be much clearer.
"With Elder Lin Langtian joining the fray, the Demonic Prison's army is as good as broken!" the man exclaimed, delighted.
Lin Langtian smiled faintly and waved a hand.
His body shimmered and faded, and in the next instant, he vanished completely.
The two men were left staring, their eyes full of awe and exhilaration at this display of frightening, almost godlike power.
…
Chaotic Demon Sea, Northern Sea Region.
This was an endless stretch of ocean. For the past year, it had been the front line of the war between the Demonic Prison and the Chaotic Demon Sea Alliance.
The two sides had clashed there dozens of times.
Every battle shook the heavens and dyed the waters red, while demonic qi swallowed the sky.
Even now, it remained the bloodiest, most brutal place in the entire Chaotic Demon Sea.
Battle drums thundered, banners snapped in the wind, and killing intent speared the heavens.
It was the final, all-out war.
Boom, boom!
Waves of demonic qi seethed in the air as countless torrents of Yuan Power howled across the sky.
Looking out across the battlefield, one saw only endless ranks of figures surging forward like iron tides, hacking into the Demonic Prison's forces.
Two unstoppable torrents smashed into each other, and the sound of slaughter shook the world.
The sea boiled with waves as high as mountains, and over the roar of the surf there was only the roar of battle and the screams of the dying.
At the rear of the alliance army, Tang Xinlian hovered in midair.
She wore tight red soft armor that outlined every alluring curve of her figure.
Her lovely face was taut with focus as she watched the battle. Clear, ringing shouts carried by Yuan Power echoed constantly from her lips, commanding the alliance army.
Since the alliance's creation, Tang Xinlian had shouldered its leadership. Under her hand, the chaotic deadlock had been slowly, steadily broken.
Her command ability had earned the absolute trust of every faction in the Chaotic Demon Sea. No one questioned her orders.
Commands raced across the army ranks in waves. Battle lust flooded the eyes of countless experts.
The world above the Northern Sea Region was almost entirely crimson.
"I wonder if Senior Qing Zhi can hold them," Tang Xinlian murmured, clenching her jade fist as she looked toward the peak of the battlefield.
There, terrifying waves of power rolled through the clouds.
Within them stood a figure in azure—Qing Zhi.
Opposite him loomed a colossal Yimo.
Its twisted form stretched for thousands of meters, its body packed with writhing eyeballs. A violent, savage aura poured from it like a tide.
This monstrosity had been formed by fusing ten true Yimo kings. Its strength was comparable to a peak expert who had endured two Reincarnation Tribulations.
In the entire alliance, only Qing Zhi could hold it back.
Roar!
A grim light filled his eyes as Qing Zhi let out a deafening shout. Azure radiance surged from his body as it rapidly expanded.
In just a few breaths, he had transformed into a dragon-man thousands of meters tall, his form covered head to toe in sleek blue scales.
Roar!
He stepped forward, space collapsing beneath his feet as he shot toward the giant demon in a streak of teal light.
His dragon fist carved a line through the void, trailing tens of thousands of dragon patterns as it slammed into the demon's body like a falling thunderbolt.
Bang, bang, bang!
The demon answered his fury with a roar of its own, its claws lashing out like scythes.
It met Qing Zhi head-on, refusing to budge an inch.
Watching the brutal clash above, Tang Xinlian's eyes narrowed. Then she barked an order.
"Third Division, move!"
At her command, a surge of killing intent exploded from the distant rear of the enemy Yimo.
An entire formation of alliance forces burst forth like a spearpoint, slashing into the Demonic Prison's ranks and splitting them in two.
The sudden arrival of such a strong strike force ignited the alliance army's morale. They pushed forward with renewed ferocity and quickly began to gain the upper hand.
Roaar!
Sensing the tide turn, the Yimo soldiers roared in fury, their cries laced with madness and bloodlust.
Whooosh, whoosh, whoosh!
As their shrieks rolled across the battlefield, the Yimo experts in the sky suddenly exploded.
Their bodies turned into streaks of black blood that streamed into the giant demon clashing with Qing Zhi.
Roar!
Flooded with that terrifying power, the demon's already-massive body swelled again.
Bang!
Its shriek shredded the air as it drove a single punch straight through space and into Qing Zhi's chest.
The impact sent him reeling through the sky. His scales shattered in sheets and blood poured freely from his wounds.
With so many Yimo merged into it, the demon's strength was now nearly at the level of a peak expert who had endured three Reincarnation Tribulations.
Roar!
It howled, its enormous maw yawning wide as black blood geysered into its throat.
Bang!
The blood condensed into a beam of pitch-black light that speared through the heavens and crashed into Qing Zhi.
Bang!
His scales burst apart. Under countless horrified gazes, he plummeted from the sky, a gaping hole torn into his shoulder.
"Die!"
The demon's roar was thick with murder. Its claws lashed out in a final killing blow, sweeping down toward Qing Zhi.
This time, it meant to end him for good.
"Help him!"
The alliance's top experts shouted in panic, hurling wave after wave of Yuan Power up at the demon in a desperate attempt to stop it.
But the demon ignored their attacks, merely shuddering as they crashed against its hide.
Whoosh!
Its claw came down in a blur, closing in on Qing Zhi's helpless form.
Just as despair flooded the eyes of the watching army, a calm voice rang out above the battlefield.
And the demon's descending claw froze in place.
"What—?!"
Countless heads snapped up toward Qing Zhi.
There, hovering in midair, a lone figure stood with his right arm lightly raised, one hand effortlessly arresting the demon's claw.
Tang Xinlian stared up at the familiar, slender form, stunned. Then her face flooded with relief and joy.
"Langtian?!"
"Is that Elder Lin Langtian?!"
Shocked cries erupted across the alliance ranks.
Ever since the alliance's formation, Lin Langtian had vanished from the world, rumored to have entered closed-door cultivation. To see him step onto the field now, at the climax of the war, was like witnessing a miracle.
"You couldn't have come at a better time, Langtian," Tang Xinlian whispered, her heart pounding.
This was the final battle. Both sides were in a frenzy. If Qing Zhi fell here, the consequences would be unthinkable.
But Lin Langtian had returned at the exact critical moment.
"Are you all right, Senior Qing Zhi?" Lin Langtian asked over his shoulder.
Qing Zhi's form shrank back to human size, emerald light fading from his skin. Wiping a smear of blood from his lips, he gave Lin Langtian a crooked smile.
"So you've come out."
Lin Langtian nodded and turned his gaze back to the giant demon, cold light flaring in his eyes.
"From here on," he said lightly, "leave this big guy to me."
