Chapter 542 - Elder Sister Anais

Azalea shook her head coldly.

"No. If it weren't for her, my sister wouldn't have suffered so much, and I wouldn't be in this mess."

She looked at Alex with curiosity.

"But what are you planning to do with these people? I doubt you'll just let them go, after all, there are Death Eaters and werewolves among them."

Fang bared his teeth impatiently.

"Hmph! Of course we can't let these bastards live. Especially Fenrir, I want to tear him apart myself!"

"Don't get carried away, Fang. Stay calm. We have to control our emotions, not let them control us," Alex said, lightly patting Fang on the forehead.

He turned to Celia with a sneer.

"These prisoners are useful to me. I actually need some test subjects, and their arrival couldn't have come at a better time."

"Test subjects?" Azalea shuddered at the words.

She still remembered the cold, hopeless room filled with strange instruments and equipment that she saw after being captured. The memory haunted her nightmares even now.

For a moment, she felt a deep sorrow for the wizards before her. Soon enough, they would regret not being killed back on the battlefield by the Pure Land Society; it might have been a kinder fate than becoming Alex's experiments.

"Let's not talk about this."

Alex didn't want to dwell on those wizards any longer.

"We need to head back to Norway next. It's time to take care of your sister's situation, the dragon pox curse on her body. Let me help you handle it once and for all."

"Yes, master!"

Azalea immediately brightened up when she heard Alex mention his younger sister, Alex.

The next morning, Alex arrived once again in Finnmark County, Norway. But this time, he didn't head to the usual wizard gathering spot.

Instead, he stayed in a quiet, deserted suburb, carrying a suitcase and seemingly waiting patiently for someone.

After a short while, the space around him began to shimmer and distort. Suddenly, two people appeared through apparition.

One was Karkaroff, and the other was a delicate young girl with a beautiful face.

Seeing them, Alex stepped forward to greet them and then glanced at the girl beside Karkaroff.

"Is this Anais?"

Anais, still unsure of what was happening, looked at the wizard next to her with confusion.

"Vice Principal Karkaroff, who is this?" she asked.

Alex smiled gently at her before giving Karkaroff a teasing glare.

"Wait, haven't you been promoted to principal yet?"

Karkaroff immediately panicked at Alex's question.

"No! The school is still dealing with Principal Jacob's funeral. The promotion will have to wait."

"What? Principal Jacob is dead?"

Anais was taken aback. She'd been brought out early by Karkaroff without any explanation.

Then she overheard Karkaroff speaking quietly with the young wizard, discussing something even more shocking, the death of Principal Jacob and the appointment and removal of his position.

Anais, only in her fourth year, was confused by this adult conversation.

Karkaroff noticed her expression and gently said, "The news about Principal Jacob hasn't been announced at school yet, so it's understandable you don't know. But it's important you don't spread this when you go back."

He gave her a kind look, though inside he was silently frustrated. Not only was Principal Jacob dead, but he had been killed by the very person standing in front of Alex.

"Professor Karkaroff, where exactly have you brought me?" Anais asked shyly, unable to hold back her curiosity.

Karkaroff looked a bit puzzled himself, not knowing why Alex had asked him to bring Alex here.

Seeing this, Alex spoke up, "It's your sister who wants to see you."

"Sister?" Anais's face lit up with joy.

"Where is she? Are you friends with her?"

"Wait a moment," Alex said with a smile.

He set his suitcase down and opened it, then called out loudly.

After a moment, Azalea appeared, dressed casually once again.

"Elder sister!" Anais exclaimed.

"Anais!"

The two sisters rushed into each other's arms, their excitement and happiness obvious, especially Azalea, who had missed Anais deeply all these years.

"Sister, why did you come here all of a sudden? Did you come just to find me? And why meet here? Why not come to the school?"

Azalea didn't answer directly but instead held her sister tightly.

"You have no idea how much I missed you while we were apart."

After they pulled apart, Azalea took Anais's hand and approached Alex.

Speaking softly, she said, "The main reason I came today was to help you with your illness. Master Alex has found a way to cure your dragon pox."

"Really?"

Anais's face brightened with hope as she looked at Alex. Though Augurey regularly gave her medicine to suppress the dragon pox, it was only a temporary relief, and the pain was still hard to bear.

"Yes, give me your hand," Alex said without hesitation.

He pulled out a metal-bound magical book and reached out his right hand to Alex. Trusting her sister, Alex didn't hesitate.

Despite Alex's youthful appearance, he seemed well acquainted with Principal Karkaroff, so she believed he wouldn't harm her.

After taking Anais's hand, Alex closed his eyes and focused deeply, sensing the curse with his heart. After a moment, he nodded in understanding.

"How?" Azalea asked nervously.

She was the most anxious of all since her main reason for following Alex's orders was because of Alex.

"It's basically what we suspected, a dragon pox curse rooted in blood magic," Alex explained, then glanced at Anais.

"Now, I'm going to cast a spell to extract the curse from you. It might feel a bit uncomfortable, but try to bear with it."

"No problem!" Anais replied, even though she didn't fully grasp what Alex meant.

She could tell he was confident and determined.

Seeing her cooperation, Alex nodded in approval. There were topics he and Azalea couldn't easily discuss with Alex, but luckily, Anais was remarkably sensible.

Then Alex opened the magic book in his hands. Although he hadn't studied this particular curse extensively - after all, a wizard's energy and focus are limited - the book not only recorded spells but also helped with casting.

What Alex had to do now was reverse the curse's effect, drawing the dark magic out of Alex and storing it safely in the book, which had the capacity to contain such curses.

"Alright," Alex said as he reached out his hand.

Suddenly, Anais felt a dull, sharp pain somewhere in her body, causing her to cry out involuntarily. But she understood it was the result of Alex's spell, so she endured it silently.

Everyone watched as Alex guided a thin, deep scarlet thread of light fromAnais's body. The sight of the thread sent a shiver down their spines.

It looked vicious and unsettling even to the naked eye.
