Mega Colossus pushed against Regigigas with every ounce of his strength.
The Alpha Tyranitar let out a deafening roar as every muscle in his gigantic body tightened. His feet dug deep into the broken ground while his powerful legs continued driving him forward.
Large cracks spread beneath him as he refused to give even a single inch. Dust exploded around both Pokémon as the clash between the two giants shook the entire valley.
Regigigas answered by pushing back with its own incredible strength.
Its enormous hands pressed against Mega Colossus, and the ancient Legendary released a deep rumbling sound that echoed across the battlefield. Every step it took shattered rocks beneath its feet. The pressure between the two monsters was so great that the air itself seemed to vibrate.
Then, slowly...
Very slowly...
Regigigas was pushed backward.
It was not by much.
Only a single step.
Then another small step.
Yet that alone was enough to make Gladion's eyes narrow.
'Even though Regigigas cannot express surprise, I am sure it is surprised.'
'This Pokémon is a living legend. According to every story, it possesses unmatched physical strength. Yet Colossus is actually forcing it backward.' A small smile appeared on Gladion's face.
He had always believed in Colossus.The Alpha Tyranitar had never disappointed him.
From the day they first met until now, Colossus had always been the Pokémon standing at the front whenever impossible battles appeared.
Whether the opponent was an Elite Four member, a Champion, or now one of the oldest Legendary Pokémon in existence, the giant Tyranitar never took a single step back.
"You are doing perfectly, buddy," Gladion said with obvious pride in his voice. "Keep pushing. Make it understand that you are not someone it can simply overpower."
Mega Colossus answered with another mighty roar.
He pushed forward even harder. The ground beneath Regigigas cracked once again as the Legendary was forced another half step backward.
Gladion immediately saw the opportunity.
"Guy!"
Machamp instantly turned toward his trainer.
Gladion pointed toward Regigigas's left side.
"Attack now. Do not try to overpower it by yourself. Support Colossus and keep its balance unstable. We only need to stop it from planting its feet properly."
Guy grinned widely. His eyes burned with excitement. [I understand. Leave that to me. Wrestling with someone this big is something I have wanted to try.]
Without waiting another second, Machamp sprinted across the battlefield. His powerful legs launched him over broken rocks before he reached Regigigas.
Instead of attacking wildly, Guy moved exactly as Gladion had instructed. He wrapped two of his muscular arms around the Legendary's enormous left leg while his remaining two fists repeatedly struck the knee joint with powerful punches.
Every punch echoed loudly. Each impact slightly disrupted Regigigas's balance.
The ancient giant immediately shifted its weight to remain standing.
That tiny adjustment was exactly what Gladion wanted.
"Perfect," Gladion muttered quietly.
Gladion raised his hand toward the opposite leg.
"Rocky, assist Guy. Hold its right leg in place."
Rhyperior gave a determined roar.
He charged forward with tremendous force before lowering his shoulder directly into Regigigas's other leg.
The giant Pokémon immediately dug his feet into the earth and began pushing upward while using both arms to hold the Legendary's leg steady.
Now Regigigas found both of its legs occupied.
Mega Colossus continued pushing from the front.
Guy held one leg in place.
Rhyperior held the other.
For the first time since the battle had begun, the ancient Legendary found itself unable to move freely.
Gladion carefully watched every reaction.
'Good.'
His eyes remained focused.
'Raw strength alone will never defeat Regigigas. Even Colossus cannot completely overpower it. But strength combined with teamwork is another matter entirely.'
Regigigas suddenly lifted one enormous arm. Its gigantic fist glowed brightly in an
Hammer Arm.
The massive attack descended toward Guy.
The punch was large enough to completely flatten the Machamp.
Gladion immediately reacted.
"Ultron!"
The silver Metagross did not even wait for the full command.
Its eyes glowed with brilliant blue psychic energy. Invisible force surrounded Regigigas's descending arm.
The gigantic fist suddenly slowed.
It did not completely stop. That would have required impossible amounts of psychic power. But it slowed enough.
"Guy!"
Machamp immediately released Regigigas's leg before jumping backward.
Hammer Arm struck the ground where he had been standing only a moment earlier.
The impact created a crater dozens of meters wide. Broken rocks flew in every direction.
Guy landed safely several meters away before smiling toward Ultron.
[Nice timing, partner. That would have hurt.]
Ultron simply made a quiet metallic sound before returning its full attention to Regigigas.
Regigigas once again raised another arm.
This time the Hammer Arm came toward Rhyperior.
"Ultron, Psychic again."
The Metagross immediately obeyed.
Blue energy wrapped around the Legendary's enormous wrist.
Once again the descending fist slowed for only a brief moment.
It was enough.
"Rhyperior, move!"
The giant Pokémon rolled away just before the fist smashed into the earth.
Rhyperior quickly regained his footing before charging back toward Regigigas's leg.
Gladion continued watching everything carefully. He looked upward.
High above the battlefield, Latios and Latias continued circling calmly. Unlike the others, they had not joined the close range battle.
He had intentionally kept them away.
Because he had another role prepared for them.
His expression became serious. "It is time."
Both Legendary dragons immediately looked toward him.
Gladion smiled softly.
"Latios." The blue dragon descended slightly.
"Latias." She floated beside her brother.
"I need both of you to begin charging Hyper Beam.....at full power."
Both dragons understood immediately.
This attack would require time. Time that Colossus, Guy, Rocky, and Ultron were currently buying for them.
Gladion looked at them confidently.
"Do not worry about the battlefield below. I will make sure nobody interrupts you."
Latias smiled warmly. [You certainly have a talent for finding troublesome situations. And I don't know how many times I have said this.]
Her voice carried amusement rather than criticism. She looked toward the enormous Regigigas.
[When we lived alone, centuries could pass without anything exciting happening.]
Latios nodded beside her.
His calm voice carried the same warmth.
[You were right all along, little brother. Battling strong Pokémon is far more enjoyable than we expected. Every battle beside you teaches us something new.]
Latias laughed softly. [We thought spending our lives quietly was enough.]
She looked down toward the battlefield where Mega Colossus continued wrestling with Regigigas. [But ever since we began traveling with you, every journey has become an adventure.]
Latios smiled. [You have brought us into danger countless times.]
He paused before chuckling.
[And strangely enough... we have enjoyed every moment of it.]
Gladion laughed despite the dangerous situation.
"I am glad to hear that."
He looked at both of them with complete trust. "Then let us enjoy one more adventure together."
Latias nodded confidently. [We will not disappoint you.]
Latios's eyes became serious. [Leave the finishing blow to us.]
Energy immediately began gathering inside their mouths.
The amount of energy they were gathering increased every second.
Even Regigigas seemed to notice. The ancient Legendary slowly lifted its head toward the sky.
Its glowing eyes fixed upon Latios and Latias.
The Hyper Beams continued charging.
Neither dragon fired. Not yet.
They continued gathering more and more power, preparing an attack worthy of two Legendary Pokémon.
Below them, Gladion tightened his fists.
Everything depended on buying just a little more time.
