The announcer's voice rang out loud and clear across the entire stadium. "And that makes the score three to two in Gym Leader Sabrina's favour. And with Gym Leader Gladion having lost half his side, it is time for a field change." The crowd cheered loudly as the battlefield began to transform.
Sabrina had to withdraw her Gardevoir for a short moment while the arena changed. She knew she would have to send it right back out because she had already used her two switches. She could not make more changes now.
With the arena changing, the poison spikes field that Hisoka had set up earlier also disappeared completely. The new field was a rocky one. Large rocks and boulders covered the ground everywhere.
Gladion looked at the new rocky field and thought carefully. 'A good field for my two other remaining Pokemon. Not so good for Mystique.' He knew the rocks would make it hard for his Milotic to move smoothly. Still, he had a plan. He raised his pokeball and called out strongly. "Let's go Mystique."
Mystique appeared back on the field as the battle restarted. Sabrina had to send her Gardevoir out again too. The elegant Pokemon took its position gracefully once more.
Mystique had not fully recovered from her earlier fight. Her body still showed signs of damage and tiredness. Since she could not use healing moves right now, she would have to fight in her injured state. On top of that, the rocky field was a huge disadvantage for her. Milotic liked water and smooth surfaces, but these sharp rocks made sliding and moving difficult.
Gladion wanted to change the field to help his Pokemon. He gave a clear order. "Let's turn this field slightly to your advantage Mystique. Surf."
Huge waves of water suddenly erupted around Mystique. The powerful move created a massive wall of water that swallowed the entire rocky field. The waves crashed loudly and carried many rocks with them. Gardevoir acted fast and teleported high above the water to stay safe.
After the big wave landed and the water settled, Gardevoir came back down to the ground. However, a couple of heavy rocks that had been carried by the water crashed onto her.
Gardevoir looked dazed and shook its head, trying to recover from the surprise hits. Water now covered parts of the rocky field.
Gladion knew he had to be fast to take advantage of this moment. Mystique understood it too. She fired a strong Ice Beam straight at Gardevoir.
Sabrina tried to order a Psybeam to counter it, but Gardevoir was still too slow and dazed from the rocks. The two beams collided a lot closer to Gardevoir. Ice energy pushed hard against psychic energy. The cold beam had frozen Gardevoir's feet by freezing the water around it instantly.
Thick ice trapped Gardevoir's lower body, holding it in place and making it unable to move freely. There was also a clear ice path created by the ice beam.
Mystique used the icy layer on top of the water to her advantage. She slid her long snake-like body across the ice with rapid speed. In just a few seconds, she appeared right next to the trapped Gardevoir.
"Wrap into Drain Kiss," Gladion said loudly.
Mystique wrapped her long, powerful body around Gardevoir tightly. Her weight pressed down heavily along with the crushing pressure of the wrap. Gardevoir struggled and made sounds of discomfort.
[Hey now, don't go on screaming like that. You make me feel like I am fat. Instead of screaming in pain, you should be screaming in joy at being hugged by the magnificent me. Let me help you a little,] Mystique said with a teasing tone.
She tightened her coils a bit more. Gardevoir screamed in pain. [Oh come on, dear. This is a rare chance for you to get a full body hug from someone as beautiful and strong as me. Most Pokemon would pay for this kind of attention. Just relax and enjoy the moment.]
Mystique's lips then glowed with pink energy as she leaned in and gave Gardevoir a Drain Kiss. She drained energy from the trapped opponent while the kiss continued.
Sabrina was not ready to let her Gardevoir lose without a big fight. She gave a command. "Moonblast."
Mystique started to let go as Gladion shouted for her to move away. But it was too late. Gardevoir had collected powerful fairy type energy during the wrap. The Moonblast exploded at point blank range. A bright burst of pink and white energy enveloped both Pokemon completely.
The force was massive and strong. Dust and water sprayed everywhere from the explosion. When the light cleared, both Mystique and Gardevoir lay on the ground, knocked out and unable to continue. The double knockout left the stadium silent for a second before loud cheers erupted.
The announcer spoke excitedly. "And the score is now four to three in Sabrina's favour. Wow, this match is rising up to the hype. No one expected Gym Leader Sabrina to push Gym Leader Gladion this far. But we all know Gym Leader Gladion has never lost a public fight. Would today be the end of his streak? Who will come out on top in this incredible showdown?"
Gladion took a deep breath and prepared his next Pokemon. He picked up a pokeball and threw it out with confidence. "Alright, Rocky. Time for you to come back to the battle stage."
A huge Pokemon emerged from the pokeball with a powerful roar.
"RHY...PERIORRR!"
