The black empty space stretched around Deoxys like always. He did not remember the exact moment when thoughts first appeared in his mind.
One day there was only the simple need to survive and feed. The next day something new stirred inside him. He started to notice things. He started to feel things. He did not know what those feelings were called at first.
Sometimes a warm glow filled him when he drifted past a bright star. Sometimes a heavy weight settled in his core when he floated alone for too long. He learned later that the warm glow was happiness and the heavy weight was sadness.
He wondered why these feelings came at all. He was just a tiny creature then. A parasite clinging to rocks and debris in the cold dark.
He did not understand why he suddenly cared about being alone or why the sight of a distant planet made him curious. The feelings confused him. They made the endless travel feel less empty. He did not know if that was good or bad. He only knew the feelings were there and they would not go away.
Sometimes he felt angry when bigger creatures tried to eat him. The anger was sharp and hot. It made him fight harder. Sometimes he felt calm when he drifted through quiet space on his home, the big floating rock. The calm felt nice. It made him want to stay in one place longer. He did not know why these things mattered.
He was small. He was simple. Yet the feelings kept growing. They turned him from a creature that only survived into something that started to wonder about the universe around him.
When Deoxys was still a tiny parasite, life was very basic. He clung to floating rocks and pieces of old comets. He fed on whatever energy he could find. He did not think much beyond the next meal or the next safe hiding spot.
Everything was cold and dark. He moved slowly from one piece of debris to another. He did not have a name then. He did not have a shape that anyone would notice. He was just a speck in the endless black.
Then something bright hit him. It struck the small rock he was clinging to. The beam burned and changed everything. Deoxys felt his body twist and stretch in ways he could not understand. It hurt at first. The pain was sharp and new.
He thought, 'Why does the light make me feel so strange?' He did not know what was happening. He only knew he was growing. He grew bigger. Much bigger. His body changed shape. New parts formed. He became something that could move fast and think clearly.
After the change Deoxys looked at himself and felt surprised. 'I am big now. Really big compared to before.' He floated away from the small rock and tested his new body.
He could change forms. One form made him fast. Another made him strong for attacking. Another made him tough for defending. He tried each one and laughed inside his mind. 'This is fun. I can be whatever I want. No one can catch me now.' The laser had turned him from a tiny parasite into a powerful being. He felt grateful to the bright light even though it had hurt.
He stayed on his very big flying rock still. He called it home. The rock was his meteor. It traveled through space for hundreds of years. Deoxys guarded it. He hunted anything that came too close. He fought strange creatures that drifted near his home. Some were big and scary. Some were fast and sneaky. He beat them all.
In his Attack Form he struck with power that could break through anything. In his Speed Form he moved so fast that nothing could touch him. In his Defense Form he took hits that would destroy other creatures. He thought, 'I am strong. Very strong. There is no equal to me.' He felt proud of his power. He protected his meteor and felt content.
He encountered various creatures during those long years. Some looked like floating jellyfish made of light. Some looked like metal beasts with glowing eyes. He fought them and won every time.
The battles made him sharper. They made him understand his own strength better. He grew used to being alone but never lonely. His meteor was home. His power was enough.
Until he met the dragon.
The green dragon appeared suddenly. It was massive. Its body glowed with ancient power. Long whiskers floated around its head. It called itself Rayquaza.
The dragon flew straight toward Deoxys' meteor. It did not slow down. It did not ask permission. Deoxys felt anger rise inside him. 'This is my home. You do not belong here.'
They fought for days. Rayquaza was strong enough to injure him. The dragon's attacks were strong. Deoxys changed forms again and again. He struck back with everything he had.
In the end the dragon managed to wound him badly. But Deoxys' meteor kept moving to its intended destination something the dragon was trying to stop. A blue planet. It crashed there in an unknown environment.
Deoxys felt lonely on the new planet. Creatures moved everywhere. He stayed near his meteor. He had to protect his home. He watched the bipedal creatures that walked on two legs. They looked intelligent. They talked to each other. He did not like them being so close.
He decided to pay them a visit and tell them that privacy was important and trespassing on someone's else home was so wrong.
