An old woman walked slowly toward the Moonwood Town gym with annoyance.
Agatha grumbled under her breath the entire way.
'I can't believe that I would have to ask that brat to do a mission myself. I am at least a hundred years his senior and I have to personally go ask him to do a mission.'
She kept muttering under her breath, "And that Koga says that I have to ask him politely at that. Politely my ass. That brat is a demon. He could have given me that Gengarite for free or even for a small favour but he made me spend a billion for it. Fucking billion. All my hard-earned money that I saved from not taking retirement is gone just because of that boy's greed."
Agatha shook her head as she walked.' I should have known better than to expect kindness from Maren's grandson. That family has always been trouble. Compared to him, his sister is an angel.'
'At least Gwen is turning out well,' she thought, her mood softening a little when she remembered her apprentice. 'Another month and I can officially retire from the Elite Four for good and let Gwen take the headache.' She sighed deeply. 'But there is still the Aura Guardians responsibilities. I swear when I die I am going to haunt everyone that gave me so much work as a Gastly.'
As Agatha entered the gym, she saw Gladion in the middle of a training session.
His Metagross and Tyranitar were fighting each other. Metagross fired a Flash Cannon that lit up the entire hall. Tyranitar answered with a massive Dark Pulse.
The two attacks collided in the center of the field and created a huge explosion. Agatha's Gengar immediately came out of her shadow to protect her, but there was no need.
The gym's psychic barriers activated instantly and contained the blast completely. The energy disappeared without harming anything outside the training area.
'As much as I hate to say it, Maren's brat's brat has surpassed me. Surpassed me by a lot…' Agatha thought as she watched the scene.
She might be good in anything that required experience but against pure power and skill, it mattered little.
Gladion had taught his Pokemon moves that were most effective for them to use and even had them learn moves that could be used in other situations using TMs. But he only focused on moves that would normally be used by them and had his Pokemon train him.
Not only that but he also focused on his Pokemon's strength, speed and endurance.
It all showed how far ahead he was.
Gladion appeared next to her with a quick teleport. He gave a small nod and said, "What brings you here, old ha… uh… Lady Agatha."
'He was about to call me an old hag, wasn't he?' Agatha thought with a frown. She sighed and spoke. "Oi brat, I have a mission for you…"
Before she could continue, Gladion interrupted her, which clearly displeased her. "What about finding more about Team Rocket and interrogating them that I captured?"
Agatha took a breath and answered. "We have already sent you the results of the investigation. But I will tell you this once again. It seems that Team Rocket has been divided into two factions. They have two leaders, Leader R and Madame Boss. The one who escaped was likely Madame Boss. And the faction of Team Rocket you attacked were loyal to her and worked for her. It seems like this Leader R had set her up. He was the one responsible for all the chaos in Kanto and it seems they had enmity against each other."
She continued explaining in detail. "Leader R appears to be the one who planned the bigger operations. He used Madame Boss's faction as a distraction or a tool. When you destroyed most of Madame Boss's people, it actually helped Leader R. Now he faces less pressure and can expand more safely. The two factions are working against each other as much as they work together. That internal fighting is probably the only reason they have not caused even bigger problems across the regions."
Agatha paused for a moment before adding more. "If both factions had worked together perfectly, the chaos would have been much worse. We are lucky they hate each other. But with Madame Boss's group weakened, Leader R now has more room to grow. We need to keep watching both sides carefully. Your capture of those members gave us good information, but we still do not know where Leader R is hiding or what his next big plan is."
She finished by saying, "We are doing our best to track them, but it is not easy. These people are good at staying hidden and moving money around. That is all we have for now."
Gladion gritted his teeth, but Agatha did not think much of it. She assumed it was just frustration at not catching the real main culprit.
"Anyways," she continued, "a meteor has fallen in Mossdeep City of the Hoenn region. Their Aura Guardians have asked us for help. There are signs of radiation as well as the presence of what feels like a very powerful Pokemon."
"Very well," Gladion said.
Agatha felt relieved this time. Gladion did not ask for any payment. It was his duty as an Aura Guardian after all, and he had already received his payment when he first joined the organization. She was glad the conversation did not turn into another negotiation. The old woman simply nodded, satisfied that the mission was accepted without extra drama.
