Chapter 739: Power of the Sacred Artifact, The Terrifying Self‑Destruction
"Mo Yu, so you truly mean to stand against me?"
The thunderous finger of light and the giant demonic hand shattered one another mid‑air. The Ice Pavilion Lord, his expression dark and brooding, glared at Mo Yu Coldly. He had hoped to delay this mysterious, unpredictable opponent and perhaps sway him—but Mo Yu had chosen open battle without hesitation.
"I have no interest in cooperating with one who serves the Outer Evil Race," Mo Yu said, voice icy. "A being like you deserves nothing less than hell itself."
"Think carefully," the Ice Pavilion Lord warned. "You may have bested the Blood God Clan once, but I now wield power equal to an Upper Earth Sovereign."
"Hmph," Mo Yu's silver eyes flashed with impatience, killing intent radiating like thunder. "You've already tainted yourself with the enemy of our world. There is only one path left for you."
Feeling the pressure of his killing aura, the Ice Pavilion Lord's expression hardened. Yet despite his unease, arrogance still gleamed in his tone.
"Such arrogance. If you truly stood as an Upper Earth Sovereign, perhaps I would be cautious. But you, a mere Lower Sovereign—do you really think to kill me?"
Even empowered by demonic strength, he forced a cold smirk. The situation had turned irritatingly complicated, and blame for that rested entirely on Mo Yu.
Mo Yu's face, however, remained calm—his resolve murderous yet steady.
Feng Yuanzi and the Snow Valley Mistress traded glances, relief flickering in their eyes. Only the Thunder Emperor could hope to stem the chaos now. If he triumphed, they would have a chance to strike as well and end the traitor's life.
The Ice Pavilion Lord's eyes gleamed like ice. "Then show this so‑called Thunder Emperor name of yours," he said mockingly. "Let's see if it's anything but empty fame."
"You'll see soon enough."
Mo Yu's expression darkened to resolve. His palm turned upward as searing lightning exploded from his body. In the midst of that storm, a gleam of silver light coalesced—shaped like a small, palm‑sized seal.
A surge of awe swept through the onlookers.
A mid‑tier sacred artifact—Mo Yu had brought out his greatest weapon.
The Thunder Dragon Heaven‑Shattering Seal hovered above his hand, swirling slowly as arcs of silver lightning wrapped around it. Each pulse made the space quiver violently; even the endless thunder sea below churned into towering waves.
"Let's see what you can do," Mo Yu murmured.
With a sharp shout, his spiritual energy poured out like a torrent, flooding into the seal. The entire region shook with a low hum. Upon the artifact's surface, lightning runes woke like serpents and trees of energy spreading their limbs. The engraved dragon upon it slowly opened its eyes.
Boom!
As they lit up, a cascade of thunder erupted from the heavens, gathering in a dark mass of clouds above.
"Thunder Dragon's Roar!"
Mo Yu's eyes narrowed. His hands blurred through seals, and the dragon engraving released a thunderous bellow that split the heavens.
"Roarrr!"
Blazing silver lightning surged outward in a sweeping blast, consuming the very air while the massive thunder sea below exploded into waves of destruction.
"That truly is a sacred artifact…" Feng Yuanzi muttered, awe in his tone.
"It's said none of our seven factions in the Bloodrock Realm have such a treasure," said the Snow Valley Mistress softly, red lips trembling at the sight.
Feng Yuanzi nodded. "Indeed. In the Great Thousand World, even a single sacred artifact can cost tens of millions of Sovereign Spirit Liquids."
"Expensive, but worthy," she replied. "Forging one takes centuries—sometimes millennia. And the power they wield can decide the outcome between Earth Sovereigns themselves."
Feng Yuanzi smiled grimly. "Exactly. The measure of a true top‑tier power is whether it possesses such a weapon. By that standard, Lord Thunder Emperor could already rule a realm—perhaps even a world."
While their words hung in the air, the Ice Pavilion Lord glared at the incoming storm of silver lightning. His hand rose in defiance, forming another enormous hand of demonic energy that clawed toward the onrushing wave.
"Futile struggle," Mo Yu said coldly.
The demonic hand met the lightning tide—and convulsed violently. Each bolt of thunder sliced through it like blades, shredding the black energy to ribbons.
The Ice Pavilion Lord's eyes widened in disbelief. This was the first time since reaching Upper Earth Sovereign level that one of his attacks had been torn apart so easily.
The power of a sacred artifact was monstrous beyond imagination.
The relentless lightning storm surged ahead, engulfing his position. Desperation flickered across his face. Gritting his teeth, he slammed a palm behind him, tearing open a rift in space and stepping toward escape.
"He's trying to flee!"
Feng Yuanzi's brows locked in anger. If he escaped now, he would remain a poison threatening all of them. But before any could move, Mo Yu's lips curved in a faint smile.
He waved his sleeve, and the Thunder Dragon Seal expanded massively, its shadow blanketing half the sky. Countless bolts of lightning speared through dimensions, piercing the rift itself. Moments later, they recoiled, dragging a battered figure out.
The Ice Pavilion Lord.
"Since you've chosen to wield the Frost Demon's corruption," Mo Yu said coldly, "then you can perish with it."
He snapped his fingers. The silver seal blazed once more, releasing a coiled dragon made entirely of thunder and malice.
"Thunder Dragon Annihilation!"
The dragon roared as it dove, tearing through air and space alike, arrowed unerringly toward its prey.
The Ice Pavilion Lord's face blanched. Even knowing resistance was futile, he strained every ounce of the demonic energy within, summoning a circle of black light that enclosed him.
The thunder dragon struck.
Ripples of distortion spread wildly; silver met black in a blaze of devastation.
"It's over," Mo Yu said softly, his silver eyes unblinking as the corner of his mouth curved into a cold, final smile.
Crack—!
The black barrier splintered under the dragon's assault. The Ice Pavilion Lord's pupils shrank to pinpricks, fear finally taking root within them. A single bolt pierced his chest, splattering dark blood into the air.
His body was hurled backward like a broken doll, crashing to a halt mid‑sky, coughing mouthfuls of blood. His aura crashed into ruin.
A stunned silence filled the ruin of the palace. All eyes fixed upon the defeated man, pale and trembling, gasping raggedly for breath.
Victory belonged wholly to Mo Yu.
Descending calmly, he stopped a short distance away, meeting his fallen enemy's eyes with detached coldness.
"Thunder Emperor, you've won," the Ice Pavilion Lord panted, voice shaking. "You and I bear no grudges. Spare me, and the entire Ice Pavilion will be yours!"
Mo Yu stared down from above. "Traitors who consort with the Outer Evils have no right to live."
Despair clouded the man's face. He had reached toward power and destiny—only to be crushed by this impossible anomaly from another world.
"Any last words?" Mo Yu asked indifferently, raising his hand. Lightning coalesced into a long, radiant spear, its tip aimed unerringly at his target.
Grim laughter tore from the Ice Pavilion Lord's throat. "Then die with me!"
He thrust his palm into his own chest, vomiting a stream of black blood. His eyes dimmed to ash while his body swelled grotesquely.
"Back!" Mo Yu shouted, startled by the realization. "He's going to—"
"Too late!" the Ice Pavilion Lord shrieked, expression twisted in madness. "All of you—die!"
A wave of oily black liquid surged across his body—then exploded.
Boom!
A shockwave of demonic energy erupted outward, vaporizing everything within several kilometers. The ground flattened; even Mo Yu was thrown violently backward.
In the same heartbeat, he summoned the Gate of Stillness, shielding himself, but the blast's corruption was too fierce. The barrier darkened, cracked, and was forced inward before dissolving entirely into him.
Yet those brief seconds were enough.
The Thunder Dragon Seal streaked to his side, forming a radiant shield that wrapped around him completely. Through its protection, Mo Yu withstood the infernal explosion.
The others were not so fortunate.
The demonic storm washed into their positions before they could fully defend. They conjured spiritual shields as fast as thought—but each barrier shattered instantly upon contact. Retreating, they pooled their strength together.
A massive spiritual barrier rose, spanning miles—a fusion of all their power.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The black tide hammered against it like waves against cliffs. The Spirit Masters winced as the shield quaked under the force—but they poured more energy into it, refusing to yield.
At last, after endless pounding, the storm began to weaken. The air calmed, and slow relief spread among the battered Sovereigns.
Their barriers faded gradually—only for terror to seize them once more.
Something was inside them.
Feng Yuanzi looked down in horror. Black, writhing sigils crept across his flesh like living worms. The same pattern appeared on all their bodies—dark runes burrowing into their veins, gnawing at flesh, spirit, and soul alike.
