Chapter 699: Preparations for Reviving the Wind Emperor
The next day, early morning.
After surviving the attack by the mechanized beasts, the convoy resumed its journey. Everyone was filled with a sense of joy, relieved to have narrowly escaped death. The tense atmosphere from the day before had completely dissipated, and the group was now openly discussing the events that had taken place.
The terrifying power displayed by the mysterious expert was still a source of shock for many.
"Haha! That giant mechanized serpent looked like a dumb snake knocked out cold yesterday. It was so satisfying! Even though we almost got wiped out, it was worth it just to see that fearsome beast in such a sorry state. Let's see if the Gongsun family dares to act so arrogant again."
"Yeah, it's all thanks to that senior's overwhelming strength. That mechanized serpent was probably a third-tier Supreme. So, that senior must have been at least a fourth-tier or even fifth-tier Supreme."
"Wow, a fifth-tier Supreme? That's even stronger than our Luoyang Yuchang family leader. From what I heard, that senior seemed to specialize in lightning techniques."
"Yep, we got really lucky this time. Too bad we didn't get to see that senior's face. A fifth-tier Supreme… that's a top-level expert, even in the main family!"
"Haha, don't dream too much. Experts like that have their own pride. We should just be grateful they saved us in passing."
Inside the carriage, Mo Yu sat listening to the lively conversations outside and couldn't help but shake his head, glad he had kept a low profile. As for Yuchang Fu, who had given him a hard time earlier, she had perished in the attack. Mo Yu remained indifferent. If not for Yuchang Guan'er, he wouldn't have cared even if the entire Yuchang convoy had been wiped out.
While Mo Yu was deep in thought, the curtain of his carriage was suddenly lifted. Yuchang Guan'er timidly stepped in, her face showing a shy smile. She respectfully handed him a water pouch, her voice soft, "S-Senior, thank you for saving us."
Having witnessed the terrifying power Mo Yu had displayed the previous night, Yuchang Guan'er now felt a bit nervous in his presence. She wrung her hands together, her face filled with tension.
Mo Yu took the water pouch, drank a bit, and then smiled at her, saying, "You're my savior. What happened yesterday was just me repaying my debt, so there's no need for thanks. You can keep calling me 'Brother Mo Yu.'"
Despite Yuchang Guan'er being about the same age as Mo Yu's daughter, his youthful appearance made it awkward for him to be called uncle or anything like that.
"Really?" Yuchang Guan'er's eyes lit up with joy, and after seeing Mo Yu nod, she happily said, "Thank you, Brother Mo Yu! Without your help, we would've all been killed by that giant mechanized serpent."
"Heh, there's no need to be so formal. You saved me, and I just repaid the favor," Mo Yu said with a smile.
Yuchang Guan'er stuck out her tongue sheepishly, replying, "I didn't do much. Anyone would've helped you if they saw you like that, Brother Mo Yu."
Mo Yu merely smiled without responding. Guan'er was too kind-hearted to realize that, in the Great Thousand World, eight or nine out of ten people would've ignored him in such a situation. Yuchang Fu had been the perfect example of that.
"Brother Mo Yu, what's your strength level? Everyone is saying you're even stronger than our family leader. Is that true?" Yuchang Guan'er cautiously asked, her earlier nervousness fading as she grew more comfortable.
"My strength, huh…" Mo Yu thought for a moment, then shook his head with a smile. "I'm not sure exactly. But yes, your family leader is probably not as strong as I am."
"Oh? Brother Mo Yu doesn't know his own strength?" Yuchang Guan'er muttered, then smiled brightly. "Still, you must be a real genius. My sister, Ran, is already stronger than many elders in our family, and she's considered the top talent in the Luoyang Yuchang branch. But compared to you, she's still far behind."
Mo Yu just chuckled. It seemed that Yuchang Guan'er, having been frightened by the attack the previous night, now felt the need to talk everything out. He didn't mind and listened patiently, showing no signs of irritation.
After about ten minutes of chattering, Yuchang Guan'er finally paused and gave a sheepish smile.
"By the way, Brother Mo Yu, I have 2,000 Spirit Power Pills here for you." She handed Mo Yu a blue bracelet.
"Hmm, 2,000 Spirit Power Pills? Where did you get so many?" Mo Yu asked, raising an eyebrow.
Given her status, it was strange for Yuchang Guan'er to suddenly have such a large amount of resources.
Yuchang Guan'er's expression dimmed, and her eyes reddened as she explained softly, "These came from Sister Fu and the others who died last night. Sister Ran said that since they're no longer with us, it's better to use what they left behind instead of burying it. I didn't want to take them at first, but I thought you might need them, so I gathered all the Spirit Power Pills from their belongings—2,000 in total."
Seeing how sad she was, Mo Yu sighed quietly. This girl was too kind-hearted. Despite Yuchang Fu treating her poorly, she still felt grief over her death.
"It's okay, Guan'er. The dead can't be brought back to life. It's all in the past now," Mo Yu said gently, patting her shoulder to comfort her.
"Guan'er, how far is it to the Yuchang family's main city?" Mo Yu asked, trying to change the subject to lift her spirits.
"If all goes well, we should reach the Yuchang family's main territory, Xiongbing City, in about four or five days," she replied after thinking for a moment.
"Four or five days…" Mo Yu muttered to himself, feeling a wave of relief. That would be enough time for his injuries to heal mostly.
In the cities, there were bound to be many powerful individuals. If he didn't recover soon, he might attract unwanted trouble. In any place, strength was the only way to gain influence and protect oneself.
Mo Yu planned to gather information once they reached Xiongbing City. If possible, he would try to break through to the Earth Supreme level, which would give him enough strength to face any potential threats.
After chatting with him a bit longer, Yuchang Guan'er left the carriage, telling him to call if he needed anything.
The convoy continued southward. With Yuchang Fu now dead, there were fewer people bothering Mo Yu, which allowed him some quiet time to recuperate.
After a while, the carriage came to a stop again. Mo Yu opened his eyes and looked at the sky. It was time to set up camp again. The Yuchang convoy was being extra cautious after the previous night's ambush.
Thanks to a day of rest and the use of many Spirit Power Pills, Mo Yu's injuries were nearly healed, and his strength was steadily returning.
He stepped out of the carriage, stretching his legs after sitting for so long. Carrying some tent poles, he headed toward the campsite chosen by Yuchang Guan'er and the others. As he walked, he caught a faint whiff of perfume in the air and looked up, spotting Yuchang Ran ahead of him. He smiled and nodded in greeting.
Yuchang Ran stood atop some rocks, her sharp eyes watching Mo Yu. There was something about him—an air of elegance and confidence that set him apart. Even she couldn't help but be slightly captivated.
Their eyes met, and Yuchang Ran was briefly startled. Unlike the unease or admiration others showed when looking at her, his gaze was calm and steady, with only a hint of a gentle smile. It was like staring into a deep, unshaken pool.
"Miss Ran, do you need something?" Mo Yu asked with a faint smile when he noticed her staring.
Her long lashes fluttered slightly at his words. Without responding, Yuchang Ran extended her hand, and to the surprise of those around them, she placed her hand on Mo Yu's arm. A probing surge of spiritual energy entered his body.
Mo Yu's expression didn't change. With a subtle shift in his own spiritual energy, he dispersed the probing energy, making it return to Yuchang Ran with no new information gained.
Disappointed, Yuchang Ran withdrew her hand. It seemed her earlier suspicions had no real basis. She had found nothing unusual in Mo Yu's body.
"Nothing," she replied, shaking her head. Her eyes drifted to the tent poles on his shoulder. "You're injured. You should rest and let someone else do the heavy lifting."
"Heh, I may be injured, but I'm not helpless," Mo Yu chuckled, shaking his head before continuing toward Yuchang Guan'er with the tent poles.
Yuchang Ran watched his tall figure move away and smiled wryly. She had let her imagination get the better of her. Judging by his appearance, Mo Yu was likely around her age. Even if he was a genius, it was unlikely he had reached the strength of a fifth-tier Supreme.
"It seems he was just lucky," she murmured to herself.
That night passed quietly, unlike the chaotic night before.
The camp was peaceful, with only the occasional crackling of the fire breaking the silence. Patrols moved around the perimeter, keeping the camp secure.
Inside a simple tent, Mo Yu sat cross-legged, steadily absorbing Spirit Power Pills. The surrounding energy flowed toward him, drawn in by his breathing, replenishing his body.
With each breath, his spiritual energy grew, and his strength gradually returned to its peak.
After hours of meditation, Mo Yu finally opened his eyes as the first rays of dawn appeared on the horizon. A faint smile of satisfaction played on his lips.
"Looks like you've almost fully recovered," came a voice. The Wind Emperor had appeared without a sound, watching Mo Yu with a smile.
"Indeed, I've regained about 80-90% of my strength. I'm just a small step away from being back at full power," Mo Yu said as he stretched.
"Oh, 80-90% already? That's fast. With your strength, you should be more than capable of handling anything this continent throws at you. But it seems you haven't broken through to the Earth Supreme level yet. I suppose you'll need to fully recover before you can take that next step," the Wind Emperor said, stroking his beard thoughtfully.
"Yes, I feel like I've reached the peak of the Supreme level, but I'm still missing that final push to advance," Mo Yu replied, a hint of regret in his voice.
"Haha, you're doing great already. Back when I first arrived in the Great Thousand World, it took me a whole month to convert my internal energy to spiritual energy. Compared to you, I'm ashamed! You and your cousin, the Flame Emperor, are bound to make a name for yourselves here. After all, you both fought your way up from nothing in a world where spiritual energy had long vanished," the Wind Emperor praised.
"Thank you for the kind words, senior," Mo Yu replied modestly.
Then, as if remembering something, he turned to the Wind Emperor and said, "Now that I've mostly recovered and we're nearing the Yuchang family's main city, I plan to gather some information there. My next goal will be to prepare for your revival, senior. Do you know where your body is located in the Great Thousand World?"
"My body, you ask…" The Wind Emperor fell silent, his ancient eyes filled with distant memories. After a long pause, he smiled wryly and said, "I've been waiting so long for this moment that it almost feels unreal. Forgive me, young one…"
Mo Yu smiled reassuringly. "It's understandable. But rest assured, I promised to revive you, and I intend to keep that promise, even if your body is hidden in the most dangerous place imaginable."
Hearing Mo Yu's determination, the Wind Emperor's heart warmed. After a moment, he closed his eyes and spoke softly.
"My body lies far away… in the distant Tianluo Continent, one of the Great Thousand World's supercontinents…"
