Chapter 156 - Red Bull

Aurora pursed her lips and looked at Avery with her eyes teary. Avery furrowed her brows at both of them. Her eyes landed on Damien, who gripped his walking stick.

She moved away from the door and gestured for him to enter. She led him to the living room.

"Do you want me to get you anything?" she asked him.

Damien shook his head.

Avery nodded and clasped her hands together.

"In that case, I'd leave the two of you alone."

Before she could turn towards the stairs, Aurora called her.

"Yes?"

"Please stay. I... we want to tell you something."

Avery shifted her weight to her other foot.

"You are scaring me, Mom."

Aurora walked towards her and hugged her.

"Please forgive me."

Avery pulled away from her.

"Forgive you for what?"

Aurora looked towards Damien.

Damien's grip tightened around his walking stick.

"Mmo?" Avery called again.

Aurora sat beside her and took her hands.

"There's something you need to know. Something you should have known a long time ago."

Avery's heart began to race; she placed her hand on her bump.

"What?"

 Tears slipped from Aurora's eyes.

"The- the man sitting across from you..."

She paused.

"Damien is your father."

Her breath hitched. Avery looked across the room and stared at Damien.

"You? You are my father?"

Damien nodded slowly.

Avery stood up from her seat.

She glanced at both of them.

"Is this some kind of joke?"

"Avery,"

"Don't, Mom. What were you expecting me to say? After all these years. You're now showing up."

-

Avery's father?" Alex asked.

The maid nodded towards him.

Alex brushed his hand over his face. A sigh left his mouth.

"Avery's father is alive."

He left his study room. He could hear the commotion downstairs.

"Babe," Alex called as he walked towards Avery.

He hugged Avery from the side.

Damien turned to Alex, and he raised his brow.

"Alex?"

Alex turned to him.

"Red Bull?"

"What are you doing here?"

"I should be asking you, asshole. And why are you hugging my daughter? "

Avery pulled herself away from Alex.

"Wait. You know each other?"

Alex cleared his throat. He clenched and unclenched his jaw and nodded.

"We. We used to work together." Alex answered.

"Used? Did he also work for Albert or with him?"

Avery threw her hands in the air, demanding answers.

"Albert? No. Fuck no. I never worked for that piece of shit." Damien rushed in.

"Then how did you know each other?"

She glanced between them.

The silence filled the room.

"You know what? Fuck it."

Avery stormed to her room. The door slammed against the wall.

Alex turned to look at Damien.

"We'll talk about this later."

"You don't tell me what to do, boy."
