Chapter 4 - What's this?

Azrael's POV:

I still didn't understand what was happening.

But one thing was clear.

Three options.

Shadow Reaper.

Dark Assassin.

Boundless Necromancer.

The moment I saw it—

My heart locked onto it.

Necromancer.

There wasn't even a debate in my head.

That's it.

That's the one I want.

Not the others.

Not even close.

I didn't hesitate.

I immediately reached out and chose option three.

The screen changed.

//===

"You have chosen the Boundless Necromancer class.

Rarity: Unknown

Specialty: (due to low-level experience, there is no description yet)

Age: 8 months (Boundless Necromancer type)."

//===

Then it changed again.

//===

"You will now be returning back."

//===

And just like that, everything disappeared.

I was back.

Back to reality.

It was quiet.

Too quiet.

The light slowly faded, and the glowing platform beneath me disappeared as I descended gently from midair until my feet touched the ground.

Huh…?

What happened?

I blinked.

Where's the screen?

It was just here a second ago.

I looked around, but there was nothing.

No interface.

No light.

Nothing.

Did I… imagine it?

No… that felt too real.

No one said anything.

Then—

"As expected of commoners, I can't sense any magic in him," the priest said, his tone filled with disappointment.

He turned away slightly, clicking his tongue.

"What a waste of time. I don't get why the capital even bothers with commoners like this."

I blinked again.

What happened to the respectful tone from earlier?

"As long as he's baptized, I'm okay with the result," my father said calmly.

"Thank you for your time, Father," my mother added, bowing alongside him.

The priest didn't even respond.

As he walked away with his companions, they didn't even bother to look back.

Silence filled the room again.

Then suddenly—

"HAHAHA!"

My father burst into laughter.

"My baby is finally baptized! My son Azrael, even without magic, you'll still be my pride. No matter what," he said as he lifted me up happily.

"My baby Azrael..." my mother spoke softly.

"I won't lie. I'm disappointed."

My father froze.

"Honey... what do you mean?"

She shook her head.

"No. I'm not disappointed in him."

Her voice trembled.

"I'm disappointed in us... because we're commoners. We don't have magic either. That's why we can't give him a better life."

Tears fell from her eyes as she tried to wipe them away.

"I'm sorry, Azrael."

My father gently hugged her.

I reached out toward her.

And before I even realized it—

"Mama."

Silence.

They both froze.

"My baby's first word!" my mother exclaimed, her eyes widening.

"Oh my... my baby spoke!"

My father laughed, completely overjoyed.

"I love you, my baby Azrael," my mother said as she hugged me tightly.

"I promise I'll be the best mother for you."
