Chapter 1 - The Fall of a Prodigy

Prologue: The Fall of a Prodigy

The sun had dipped behind the mountains, casting long shadows over the sect grounds. The air was thick with tension, but Kiran stood tall, unaware of the storm that was about to descend upon him. For years, he had been the sect's prodigy, a once-in-a-century talent with unmatched spiritual roots and cultivation that soared through the ranks. His potential to lead the sect into a golden era was spoken of in hushed tones by disciples and elders alike.

But that same night, his world shattered.

The Grand Hall was full—elders, disciples, and even the Sect Master, who watched with cold, indifferent eyes. Kiran's heart pounded as he knelt before them, accused of crimes he never committed. Treachery, they called it. Secret cultivation techniques stolen from the forbidden archives. His every denial fell on deaf ears, drowned in the waves of fabricated evidence laid out before him.

"This is a mistake!" Kiran's voice echoed in the hall, desperation leaking into his words. "I am loyal to the sect. I would never—"

"Silence!" The Sect Master's voice cut through the air like a blade. His gaze, once filled with pride for his most talented disciple, now bore only disdain. "For your betrayal, Kiran, your cultivation base will be crippled, and your spiritual roots destroyed. The sect has no place for traitors."

The sentence struck him like a death knell. Kiran's mind reeled. His spiritual roots—the foundation of his power, the very thing that set him apart—would be taken from him. Without them, he would be nothing. No longer a cultivator. No longer the genius everyone admired. He would be cast out, powerless and broken.

Suddenly, a familiar face stepped forward—his closest friend, someone he had trusted with his life. But instead of support, Kiran saw betrayal reflected in their eyes. The realization hit him harder than any blade ever could. This wasn't just about stolen techniques; it was a conspiracy. His friend had been at the heart of it, orchestrating the lies, manipulating the sect against him.

Kiran's heart turned to ice.

Before he could speak, an elder approached, his hand crackling with a strange light. The ritual to cripple Kiran's cultivation began. Pain exploded in his chest as his dantian shattered, spiritual energy seeping from his body like a river of blood. His spiritual roots, the core of his being, were torn apart, leaving him hollow.

In that moment, something within Kiran broke as well—his trust, his compassion, his belief in the bonds that once tied him to this world. He collapsed to the ground, gasping for air, the agony of betrayal worse than the physical pain that wracked his body.

Through blurred vision, he saw them leave, one by one. His former comrades. His Sect Master. His closest friend. None turned to look back. In their eyes, Kiran was already dead.

Lying in the cold darkness, Kiran clenched his fists, trembling not from pain but from fury. Hatred seethed within him, growing like a wildfire. He vowed then and there that he would return, no matter the cost. He would rise again and make them all pay.

As the last sliver of strength left his body, a cold, mechanical voice echoed within his mind.

"System Activation Complete."
