Chapter 578: 1 Point of Divinity
"Kill Hydra (Jordan), Luck -5."
"Defeat Hydra (Jordan), Luck +4."
Matthew carefully pondered these two choices. As his mastery over the power of fate deepened, he gradually came to understand.
Different choices represent different trajectories of fate.
Changes in luck often signify varying degrees of influence.
The fact that either of these choices could bring a Luck change of 4 or 5 to the current Matthew already said a lot.
Hidden within them was immense danger—as well as tremendous opportunity.
Combining the memories in Matthew's mind with the boost his demigod body gave to his destiny powers—
He could vaguely "see" the different consequences brought by the two options.
If he killed Hydra (Jordan).
He would inevitably draw the "gaze" of the Crimson Moon.
That would be a "catastrophic disaster"-level crisis!
Matthew estimated that when the "Crimson Calamity" arrived, the first target of the Crimson Moon's attack would definitely include him and Bay Territory.
The coming of the Calamity would bring nothing but destruction!
A Luck +4 choice could theoretically provide the best possible return.
It would delay Jordan's "growth" and postpone the arrival of the Calamity.
Matthew and Bay Territory wouldn't have to bear too much pressure, and they'd gain the friendship of the Leviathan race, along with generous rewards.
No matter how you looked at it, this was clearly the most suitable and correct choice!
However, Matthew did not make a decision immediately.
Because Matthew knew very well that the most "suitable" and most "correct" choices often involved compromise.
If there were no threat of a "Calamity," no terrifying arrival of a "Divine War."
Matthew could take his time, slowly developing his territory, always walking the most correct path.
But now, the torrent of time surged forward!
Having passed the initial danger, and after recovering those terrifying memories, Matthew knew he could no longer continue being "correct."
Time was truly running out!
Moreover, Matthew remembered very clearly that the current location of Bay Territory was exactly within the range of influence and attack from the "Crimson Calamity."
Though they wouldn't have to face the first wave of terrifying destruction like the Cole Elven Kingdom, the threat was still enormous.
Since you provoked me "first," why should I still be polite with you?
Just as Bay Territory's navy was preparing for battle, the Leviathan leader couple, who had communicated with little Menglan, also understood their intentions.
Bathed in red twilight, Yaya flapped her silver-white wings and soared into the air.
A terrifying and almost tangible aura descended instantly over the sea.
Many giant-fanged sea serpents affected by dragon might trembled under Yaya's overwhelming presence.
Interestingly, it wasn't just the sea serpents that fell into chaos.
Even the nearby peak Extraordinary and Legendary-tier long-necked aberrant sea dragons began to hesitate.
Their behavior drew Matthew's attention.
He immediately realized that these mutated and twisted dragon-blood sea monsters were not affected by the "Dragon Frenzy Enchantment."
Even he and Yaya could not fully resist the "interference" and "pollution" brought on by the Dragon Frenzy Enchantment.
The two of them had to regularly perform time "resets" to ensure their safety.
Yet these deeply mutated dragon-blood sea monsters were still "obeying" the maddened Hydra's "orders" while retaining a degree of intelligence.
For anyone else—even a knowledgeable Great Arcanist—this state might have been incomprehensible.
But Matthew understood their current "change."
It was the result of the Crimson Moon and Dragon Frenzy Enchantment vying for "pollution control."
Judging by the current outcome, the Crimson Corruption's influence clearly had the upper hand.
These mutated dragon-blood sea monsters followed Hydra's orders even more closely.
Of course, Matthew didn't believe the Crimson Moon ranked higher than the being on the Regicide Star.
It was simply that the Crimson Moon was "closer," and the aberrant sea monsters had gone more thoroughly "mad!"
Yaya rose into the air and, under the watch of the Leviathan leader couple, charged directly toward Hydra, who had just stopped breathing in the distance.
Just as the Leviathan leaders were about to act, they suddenly felt dizzy and looked suspiciously at the innocent-looking little Menglan.
"Daughter, is this the gentle, cute, and handsome big sister you were talking about?"
"Handsome, sure... but doesn't she seem kinda reckless?"
Little Menglan was a bit dumbfounded too. Watching Yaya's incredibly dashing leap, she rolled her eyes and slapped the water with her little fin before continuing:
"Um... Sister Yaya just said they'll hold Hydra back so we can prioritize taking out the other sea monsters."
As soon as Menglan finished speaking—
Yaya had already slammed into the water.
The surface parted instantly, offering no resistance.
It was the powerful Leviathan couple who had lent a timely "hand."
Boom!
The unprepared Hydra was directly struck by Yaya.
The massive 12-meter body was knocked over by her impact.
Its nine dazed heads slammed heavily into the pitch-black reef.
Though it took no real damage, it immediately regained clarity.
Its mouths opened wide to bite Yaya.
But Yaya struck first. As she pinned it down, she bit down on the green head that had spewed acid breath.
Though Hydra had massive weight, Yaya had grown again and now exceeded 20 meters in length, reaching 21 meters.
Her mouth, lined with sharp teeth, instantly tore through the scales on Hydra's long neck and bit deep into the muscles.
Crunch!
Fangs and bone collided, and the glowing golden fangs prevailed, embedding deeply into Hydra's neck bone.
As Yaya clamped her jaws shut and twisted her neck with force, a harsh crunching echoed.
With a scream, the green head was torn clean off by Yaya!
Blood spurted wildly, instantly dyeing the surrounding sea red.
"-75!"
Hydra's vast HP dropped by nearly one-tenth in a flash!
Gravely injured, Hydra let out waves of anguished shrieks.
Its other heads convulsed in pain, but the pain only fueled its savagery.
The remaining eight heads opened wide and bit hard into Yaya.
Crunch! Crunch! Crunch!
Dense, thin fangs clashed against Yaya's silver-gray scales, embedding deeply.
Yaya felt stabbing pain all over her body. Hydra's bite was brutally strong.
Yet Yaya did not retreat. She shook off the writhing broken head and bit fiercely into a nearby white head that spewed icy breath.
Claws gripping tight, she ignored the other heads and chomped down.
Crunch!
This time, Hydra had prepared. A flash of icy crystal light covered its body, reinforcing its scales.
That prevented it from being bitten through like before.
Even so, Yaya's terrifying and lethal bite still tore out a large chunk of flesh from its neck.
The breath forming in its mouth was interrupted.
The other heads pulled hard, trying to tear Yaya open.
But Hydra was horrified to find that despite the deep fang penetration, the wounds weren't widening at all.
Yaya's muscles were as tough as refined steel, tightening more and more.
With Steel Muscles LV3's powerful defense, Yaya dominated the biting contest!
Crunch!
Yaya's second vicious bite sank into the white neck.
Reinforced Bones LV3 gave her another edge in the brutal clash.
Her fangs pierced the cervical bone.
Creak!
Crack!
As her teeth sliced through, Hydra trembled, and another head was ripped off.
A second crimson jet of blood gushed out, dyeing Yaya's upper body red.
Hydra howled in pain, thrashing wildly among the reefs.
Two heads released their bite, and terrifying elemental forces began to gather in their mouths.
Perceiving danger, Yaya remained calm.
She gave up defending against the red head's flame breath and grabbed the pale gold head tightly.
Even she didn't want to endure that surging lightning!
Seeing this, Archie bit a peak-tier Iron-Jawed Megalodon in half, panicked that Yaya was taking Hydra's flame breath head-on:
"Not good, she's going to suffer for this!"
Archie, having fought Hydra before, knew how terrifying that flame breath was.
It was no weaker than a Legendary Red Dragon's destructive flame!
Last time, even a glancing hit roasted a chunk of flesh from his back—he suffered for half a month before recovering.
Of course, Hydra didn't get off easy that time either.
He bit off nearly half its body and shredded many of its organs.
Thanks to that heavy blow, his mate Miaoye was able to ambush from behind.
She successfully tore off three of Hydra's heads.
That helped turn the tide in that righteous beatdown!
Though Yaya was a true dragon, she might not withstand that devastating flame!
Little Menglan nervously looked up, her eyes brimming with tears, regretting not making things clearer to Yaya.
Boom!
The scorching flame breath struck Yaya's shoulder.
Flames spread instantly, engulfing her.
Elio, who was commanding the soldiers to fire the cannons, heard Yaya's painful roar. Her heart clenched, and red light flickered in her eyes.
But she quickly calmed down and suppressed the urge to shoot Hydra, still shouting coldly:
"Aim for the giant-fanged sea serpents! Fire!"
Rumble!
A barrage of five cannons per salvo focused their fire, devastating the smaller sea serpents.
Their lower constitution (18) and relatively weaker defense (high-tier peak) made them easy prey for three cannon shots.
In an instant, the sea erupted with hundreds of water pillars—over 20 giant-fanged sea serpents were slain.
A nearly 50% hit rate was the biggest factor in the navy's impressive results.
Of course, their accuracy came largely from the excellent coordination of six Legendary Leviathans.
They fully controlled the water around the serpents, confining them to tight spaces.
Even with well-trained naval gunners, they relied on magically enhanced cannons for precise adjustments.
Only then could they maintain such a high hit rate at a range of around 1 km.
Even so, the Leviathan community remained extremely intrigued by the destructive power of the magic cannons.
They had never seen human ships capable of launching attacks from such a distance.
"Roar...!"
Yaya's pained roar drew everyone's attention.
On the reef where the flames and smoke were gradually dissipating—
Yaya, her upper body charred pitch black, had already torn off Hydra's lightning-breathing third head.
Hydra howled in agony and struggled to its feet as Yaya was forced back by the flame breath.
Incredibly—
The gray-green head first bitten off by Yaya was visibly regenerating at an astonishing speed!
In just over ten seconds, it had fully regrown.
It seemed to remember the damage done by Yaya. Hatred and malice glinted in its vertical pupils.
Having taken the full brunt of the flame breath, Yaya's momentum had weakened slightly.
At this moment, the tide of battle seemed to shift against her!
A chill glinted in her eyes as Yaya endured the burning pain and charged again.
Seeing Yaya act so wildly, Hydra didn't hesitate and rushed to meet her.
Boom!
Hydra crashed heavily to the ground.
And it wasn't because it slipped!
A terrifying gravitational force had pulled it down violently.
Yaya's seemingly reckless combat style was actually calculated and smart.
As Hydra tried to rise again, she pinned it down once more.
Her heavy metallic claws clamped tightly onto the newly regrown green head.
Ignoring the snapping heads around her, she bit into its neck with ferocity.
Crunch!
The freshly grown bones, skin, and scales had yet to reach full strength—one brutal bite from Yaya snapped them apart.
The green head, mouth just opening, didn't even have time to fight back before being violently torn off.
Of course, Yaya paid a price—two bloody wounds were torn into her neck.
But she didn't care. Her thick-scaled dragon body protected her from serious harm.
At most it meant some bleeding and pain—but what of it?
Compared to studying arcane models, the pain of battle was sheer enjoyment!
Crunch!
Yaya viciously swiped her claw, smashing the third regrowing head.
She wasn't stupid. Of course she would aim for the weakest spots.
Hydra thrashed in pain, trying to rise.
But its short upper claws couldn't lift it, and though its powerful legs carved pits into the reef, they couldn't overcome this awkward flaw.
The other heads gathered breath for retaliation, but Yaya, having learned from experience, disrupted them with fast claws and fierce bites.
On the battlefield, it looked like Yaya was relentlessly pounding Hydra.
Hydra had great strength, but having lost the initiative, it was stuck on the defensive, roaring in pain.
Miaoye's massive form darted upward, ramming the Iron-Jawed Megalodon in its soft underbelly.
The swiftly moving beast flipped onto its back, frozen like a statue on the water's surface.
Little Menglan watched in awe as her mother surfaced gracefully and sank her fangs into the exposed belly.
Blood splattered everywhere!
Watching the flawless and dazzling strike, little Menglan's own teeth tingled, and her tail itched to swat something.
Naturally, after the lethal strike, Miaoye didn't get to enjoy her favorite soft liver. She looked toward Yaya's battlefield with concern.
Watching Yaya "pummel" Hydra stunned her mid-support. She muttered to her mate Archie:
"Hm? That little Time Dragon is incredible! I've never seen such a strong hatchling. Could she be blessed by the Dragon God?"
Archie had just used crushing water pressure to trap a Legendary long-neck sea dragon, letting furious allies tear it apart.
Hearing his mate's musings, he murmured:
"The Dragon God hasn't been heard from in thousands of years. She may carry divine power, but it's not fully awakened..."
"Still, time is one of the greatest weapons. If only we had met earlier, Akun wouldn't have needed to fall..."
Miaoye glanced at the crimson moonlight above, wariness flickering in her gaze.
She manipulated the tides to help the magic cannons slay another wave of giant-fanged sea serpents and softly said:
"If little Menglan follows her, she might really make something of herself."
Thinking of their playful, gluttonous daughter, Archie looked at the rising figure of Matthew.
Noticing the magic surging from his armor, a trace of shock flickered in his eyes as he muttered:
"Maybe it's time for us to change. We can't handle the mutations alone anymore..."
"On him, I see echoes of those two Empires..."
Gently flicking her tail, Miaoye called the dazed little Menglan over and patted her head with a fin:
"You're nearly three. It's time you learned to live on your own. Do you want to go with Yaya and the others?"
Little Menglan was stunned. From the corner of her eye, she looked at the mighty Yaya.
Instantly smitten by her heroic figure, she nodded eagerly:
"Hehe, I do! With Big Sis, there's so much yummy stuff... and awesome things to learn..."
Archie and Miaoye exchanged helpless glances. They decided deep down to finally let go of this "little burden" and enjoy the "2D" world together.
"Roar...!"
Hydra's shrill roars began to change.
Especially as crimson moonlight bathed both it and Yaya.
Its painful howls turned into beast-like, mindless screeches.
