Chapter 577.5: Natural Disaster - The Crimson Moon

Menglan curiously watched everything, eyeing the dark, compact cannons and asking:

"What weapon is this? What magic does it use?"

Yaya didn't explain the principle, only smiling as she said:

"It's like a long-range magic attack—except it deals physical impact damage."

"But in the future, its damage type will be further improved…"

Menglan nodded thoughtfully and turned her attention to Beelzebub and Gater, who held axes and blades.

These two were tall and skillful—

In just a few moves, they split open the not-yet-dead mutants.

The bloody remains and organs were packed into special dark boxes to avoid contaminating the deck.

Even so, the mutant monsters weren't fully dead and were regaining movement.

Gater didn't hesitate, slashing their spines to sever control.

First to be harvested were the monsters' scales—

Tough, twisted, still coated in clumps of flesh. Under sunlight, they gave off searing blue smoke.

Most scales quickly disintegrated and crumbled.

Liana quickly preserved some, putting them in a freezer box. Noticing a few stable black scales, she placed down the detector and said excitedly:

"Impressive strength—definitely Extraordinary-grade."

That comment set the tone for Bay Territory's combat strategy.

High-tier magical creatures and materials weren't rare. Bay could already mass-produce them.

But Extraordinary materials were rare and pricey—often dozens of times costlier than high-tier ones.

Menglan saw through Bay Territory's tactics—

They lured in a batch of mutants, bombarded them to keep them injured,

Let them fight and devour one another, weakening themselves—

Then killed them once they evolved to Extraordinary rank.

Compared to normal Extraordinary magic creatures, these aberrant-born monsters only yielded a few usable materials.

Even so, Bay Territory profited handsomely.

The quick-thinking Menglan marveled at the cannons' sustained killing power—

And began thinking about hunting mutants herself.

These usually ignored monsters, if properly utilized, could be a fortune.

That's right—Menglan now understood what wealth meant.

It wasn't just delicious food—it could buy rare treasures that helped her grow.

After several rounds, Bay earned over 800,000 gold in Extraordinary materials.

The Yao Moon Family members who got 200,000 gold were thrilled.

Lucky they'd chosen to travel with Bay—otherwise, they'd have missed all this.

But Shuyou, who had seen it all, valued Bay's strength and talent reserve even more.

They could always find valuable things.

And use Bay's unique methods to profit from them.

To other forces, the deadly Sea of Death might become Bay's treasure trove.

And even knowing this, Yao Moon Family couldn't develop it—just follow and leech off the benefits.

Four hours passed.

The fleet had reached a location 300 kilometers from the shallow seas.

A large island appeared ahead, with jagged black pillars—a reef cluster.

In front of the reef, hundreds of massive creatures battled fiercely.

Over 30 Leviathans, each over 40 meters long, formed a semicircle—

Manipulating water to fight swarms of mutants.

Besides the Giant-Toothed Sea Serpents and Long-Necked Mutant Sea Dragons,

There was another terrifying type—

Over 20 meters long, armored in gray-blue metallic plating, thick-bodied with whip-like tails.

Their heads were cone-shaped and hideous, with three rows of conical fangs in their mouths.

A single bite could tear off massive flesh.

Iron-Jawed Megalodons!

These Extraordinary-level terrors were apex predators of the Sea of Death.

But even that wasn't enough to endanger a Leviathan pack.

Leviathans were Legendary overlords!

Not a species that could be ganged up on and slain!

Especially now—with six living Legendary Leviathans gathered!

After ascending to Legendary rank—

Leviathans became true rulers of the deep sea.

They gained a rare second talent:

Legendary Talent – Deep Sea Domination: Controls water flow within a 1000-meter radius and creates 8000-meter-deep sea pressure while remaining unaffected.

Though it seems non-offensive, its power is terrifying.

Such pressure can instantly kill any creature with less than 20 Constitution.

It can create devastating currents and whirlpools, allowing surprise attacks from any direction.

The only reason these Iron-Jawed Megalodons could go on the offensive—

Was because a greater monster stood behind them: The Nine-Headed Dragon – Hydra!

One of the rare true dragons without wings, with unmatched strength and physique in the material plane.

Upon reaching Legendary rank, its Strength and Constitution both soared to 35—

Reaching the peak values of the Legendary tier!

Nine monstrous heads greedily tore into a Leviathan corpse, its thick blood dyeing the surrounding waters red.

That was the corpse of a Legendary Leviathan!

And its size was second only to the two Leviathan leaders.

Yet even so, it had become Hydra's meal.

Each of Hydra's heads held a distinct terrifying power, capable of spewing nine kinds of deadly dragonbreath.

According to Matthew's memory, Hydra possessed a very familiar Legendary Feat—Lesser Undying Body!

As well as at least three Constitution-based super feats!

Even if one of its heads was cut off, it could regenerate in mere seconds.

But even so, based on Matthew's understanding of Hydra and Leviathan's power levels, they should have been equals.

With its draconic gifts and regeneration, Hydra might have gained the upper hand—

But not to the extent of 1v7 and slaying a Legendary Leviathan!

Just as Matthew tried to look closer for more information about Hydra, a terrified voice cried out beside him:

"Akun is dead? No, that can't be true!"

"Impossible! That nine-headed freak was already dead!"

"Father and Mother tore it to pieces, didn't they?!"

As Menglan's words fell, Hydra raised its nine heads and spewed deadly breaths into the sky—

Fire Breath!

Frost Breath!

Acid Breath!

Lightning Breath!

Gale Breath!

Paralysis Breath!

Weakening Breath!

Slowing Breath!

Sleep Breath!

In an instant, waves surged and winds roared—

A twisted storm of destruction, carrying Hydra's breath weapons, split the sea open and surged toward the Leviathan cluster.

Legendary Spell—Chaotic Tempest!

Sensing the dire threat, the Leviathan leader pair opened their mouths in a thunderous roar.

The waters before them surged upward dozens of meters, forming a world-shaking tsunami.

9th-Ring Legendary Spell—Great Tsunami!

Boom!

The Chaotic Tempest and Tsunami collided.

Countless Giant-Toothed Sea Serpents and Iron-Jawed Megalodons were instantly torn to pieces.

Other monsters fled in all directions—and if they were intelligent enough to speak, they'd be cursing Hydra:

"Couldn't you at least give a warning before nuking everything?!"

"Are you our boss or the enemy's spy?!"

Mist rose, winds howled—

The shockwave rocked even the steel magic warships.

Everyone aboard looked on in terror.

So this is the power of a Legendary overlord?

It was beyond comprehension!

Either of those attacks could easily annihilate the entire fleet!

Staring at the elemental chaos, Matthew blinked in disbelief.

"Ultimate moves right off the bat? Energy surplus isn't an excuse for this!"

Hydra thrashed its heads, spraying devastating breaths.

Some mutated sea monsters nearby couldn't dodge and were torn apart.

Matthew's gaze fell instinctively on the half-devoured Legendary Leviathan.

The unlucky Akun, slain by Hydra despite also being Legendary, clearly didn't add up.

Yet no matter how closely Matthew examined the corpse, he found no clues. That was a red flag!

Without hesitation, Matthew used 1 point of divinity!

Divinity was precious, slow to regenerate—but immensely effective.

Enhanced by divine power, the data shimmered faintly gold.

Looking again at the corpse, he saw blotchy red corruption across its entire body.

"Leviathan (Legendary) corpse, Challenge Rating 22, afflicted by Crimson Corruption!"

Feeling the eerie, twisted power, Matthew's eyes filled with dread.

"Crimson Corruption!"

Yaya and Menglan immediately looked over, sensing his shock.

But Matthew didn't explain—instead, he frowned, deep in thought.

Crimson Corruption—one of the horrifying powers of the Crimson Moon!

In the future "Crimson Calamity," it was the most hated and feared affliction by players and all beings.

It had only one effect:

"Gradually erodes the sanity of all infected, turning them into puppets of the corruption source."

Even divine avatars couldn't resist this corruption during the Crimson Calamity.

If the Crimson Corruption here spread, it would trigger a catastrophe.

Matthew turned instinctively, staring at the now-insane Hydra. With divine sight, he saw its true state—

Name: Joden

Race: Hydra

Power: Legendary Peak

Challenge Rating: 25+

Status: Crimson Corruption Infection (75%)

Talent: ???

Legacy: ???

Skills: ???

Attributes: ???

Luck: -5 (Doomed)

Assessment: Gluttony is the root, the cause!

As his divine power faded, Matthew received partial data on Hydra Joden.

The key info was the corruption progress.

Matthew, well-versed in Crimson Corruption, knew—

At 10% infection, a being becomes a puppet.

The higher the percentage, the more horrifying the mutations and distortion.

At 100%, it becomes a corruption source—a true "Walking Cataclysm."

And the name Joden triggered sealed memories in Matthew's mind.

Knowledge so dreadful it could drive one mad.

He finally recalled its identity—

It triggered the Crimson Calamity—Crimson Sovereign!

An immortal horror—an ancient abomination!

Servant of ancient hatred—avatar of the Crimson Moon!

Doom of the elves—destroyer of the Cole Elven Kingdom!

At that moment, the sun set. Twisted crimson light painted the distant sky.

And more memories returned to Matthew—ones that stirred his soul.

The Crimson Moon is alive!

In two decades, it would devour the moon and ascend as a dark god!

And it was already close—coveting the material plane.

Its crimson moonlight was already influencing the world.

It was the original calamity!

The ever-present sword of Damocles!

Cultists and doomsday sects were all tainted by its glow.

Not by intention—but by the sheer overwhelming brilliance.

One glance was enough to drive mortals mad.

These memories had remained sealed before Matthew became a demigod.

Only now, after reactivating divine power, could he recall them without losing his mind.

Staring hard at the maddened Hydra, he noticed subtle changes under the crimson moonlight.

He made his decision—this had to be stopped now!

Even though Joden's destruction of the Cole Elves impressed him—

The Crimson Calamity's toll on the material plane was too high.

Over a third of all living beings became puppets to the Crimson Moon.

A pain shared by all players—

And a regret Matthew had long borne.

Now, he had a chance to prevent it all.

Even if he couldn't stop the Crimson Moon's arrival, killing Joden early would help.

Without it as the corruption source, the Crimson Moon would need more time and effort to restart the infection.

That would buy the material plane at least half a year!

Time Matthew was willing to bet on!

Steeling himself, he met Yaya's worried gaze, forced a smile, and turned to Menglan:

"Please notify the other Leviathans—we're joining the battle."

Menglan's eyes widened in surprise and delight—

She hadn't expected Bay Territory to step in after witnessing Hydra's terror.

She nodded firmly and darted around the chaotic battlefield.

As Matthew watched her go, Yaya noticed his strange expression and didn't press—she knew things were urgent.

Under Elio's watchful gaze, Matthew raised his staff and took a deep breath:

"Prepare for battle—target: Nine-Headed Dragon, Hydra!"

Elio responded instantly, giving the combat command without hesitation.

The navy soldiers entered battle mode. Though the enemy was terrifying—they showed no fear!

Their lord's will was the strongest weapon!

They had won before—and they would win again!

Seeing the Leviathan cluster stir, Matthew clenched his fist, shouting silently in his heart—

"Target: Joden—Hydra!"

"Spend 50 million Destiny Power to activate Destiny's Choice?"

"Yes!"

Remember history, let the warnings ring.
