Leo's expression instantly hardened.
He slowly turned his head. The corner was empty.
Nothing.
Only a chair beside the window and the evening light filtering through the curtains.
He looked back at Bella.
"Bella. Look at me."
His voice remained calm.
She didn't. Her terrified eyes remained fixed on the same empty corner.
"No..." she whimpered. "He's looking at me..."
Her entire body began trembling. "He won't stop looking at me..."
Fresh tears spilled down her cheeks.
Leo gently held both sides of her face, encouraging her to look only at him.
"Bella. Listen to my voice. There is no one else in this room. It's only you... and me."
Bella shook her head desperately. "No!" Her voice cracked. "You can't see him?" She pointed again, her finger trembling so badly that she could barely keep it raised. "He's right there!"
She suddenly covered her ears. "He's telling me it's my fault." A frightened sob escaped her. "He says I killed him... He keeps saying I killed him..."
