Nonna suddenly pouted. "Then who is going to give me great-grandbabies?" Her voice sounded genuinely heartbroken. "I've been waiting for years! All my friends have great-grandchildren. They show me pictures. They tell me stories. They bring them to visit."
She folded her arms like an upset child. "My friend Teresa keeps bringing pictures of her chubby little great-granddaughter just to show off."
She huffed dramatically. "I've wanted to steal that adorable baby so many times."
The entire family laughed.
Nonna admitted with an embarrassed smile. "When I was young, I couldn't stand babies. They cried all the time and demanded attention every minute."
Her eyes softened. "But now... I can't walk past a baby without wanting to hold them. They're so small and soft and perfect."
She looked lovingly at Leo and Jay. "When these two were little, I spoiled them every chance I got. I used to sneak them extra cookies when their mother wasn't looking."
