Chapter 307 - The Beach Episode

MHA Universe, Earth, Japan, Hitachinaka.

Two days have passed since Tatsuo, Alfonzo, Akatsuki, and Sakura began their tour of the cities close to Tokyo. On the first day, they went to Kiryu, where Sakura took down a Villain robbing a textile shop. The day after that, they went to Hitachinaka, a seaside city famous for their Nemophila flowers, fish market, and Kochia that grows at the Hitachi seaside park.

And just like the previous day they were able to throw off Rumi from following them. Though, dealing with her when they got back to Musutafu was quite the annoyance. A pouting, violent rabbit was more than what most people could deal with, after all.

Currently, the group of four were halfway through the day. Yet, they had not run into a single crime or Villain attack. And it was easy for Alfonzo to see that the younger members of the group were starting to get bored and restless, especially Tatsuo.

"So, is this how being a Hero really is?" Tatsuo asked while the group patrolled the streets of Hitachinaka.

"Pretty much." Alfonzo replied with a shrug. "Most days, patrols are only to show our faces to the public. To let them know that the Heroes are here for them if they need them."

"Yet, they always show up after trouble happens." Tatsuo said in an annoyed tone.

"To be fair, they're not prophets." Akatsuki pointed out. "There's no way to know that a crime is gonna happen before it happens."

"Akatsuki-San is right, you know?" Sakura replied softly. "Besides, having a day where there are no crimes is better than having days when we have to stop them."

"I know that." Tatsuo replied petulantly. "It's just I don't' like walking around like this. I'd rather be at home training or playing video games."

"Besides, just imagine how fucked up this world would be if things were like Minority Report or Psycho-Pass." Alfonzo said. "I mean, those worlds sucked without superpowers. Things would be so corrupt if you added those to the mix that it would be nearly impossible to live here."

Tatsuo could not help shivering at the thought. Meanwhile, Sakura and Akatsuki looked at Alfonzo with confusion on their faces.

"What are Minority Report and Psycho-Pass?" Sakura asked while tilting her head in confusion.

"I'm guessing they're movies." Akatsuki added. "At least, I know Minority Report is. I remember hearing about an American movie with the same name. But I'm not sure about Psycho-Pass."

"You're right about Minority Report." Alfonzo said with a smile. "But Psycho-Pass is an anime."

"Arguably the best anime of all time." Tatsuo said strongly. A moment later, his shoulders slumped and his tone mellowed out. "At least the first season is. Everything after that is kinda mediocre."

With that, the four discussed the two works Alfonzo mentioned while continuing their patrol. However, when they arrived near the seaside park, the conversation came to a stop as Akatsuki and Sakura turned to look in its direction.

"*Sigh* too bad we can't take a trip to the beach." Akatsuki muttered. "It would be a great day for it. The sun is shining, there's a pleasant wind, and there aren't too many people out."

Sakura nodded her head in response.

"I wouldn't mind a trip to the beach, either." Tatsuo added. "But do you girls even have clothes suitable for the beach right now?"

"If we could actually go, I wouldn't mind spending a bit of money." Akatsuki replied.

"Me neither." Sakura added.

"Well, if you three really wanna go, I don't see why we can't." Alfonzo replied with a shrug. "Y'all just better be ready to pack it up if we get a call from the HPSC."

Hearing that, Akatsuki's and Sakura's eyes lit up. At the same time, Tatsuo grinned at Alfonzo.

"So, you're getting bored with this patrol, too, huh?" Tatsuo asked.

"I have no idea what you're talking about, T." Alfonzo replied without making eye contact with Tatsuo. "I'm just taking care of the mental health of my interns."

Tatsuo's grin widened in response while Akatsuki and Sakura tried, and failed, to hide their own giggling.

"Anyway, you three go buy what you need." Alfonzo said, waving off the three kids.

"Oh, I have everything I could need in my [Inventory]." Tatsuo said casually. "Swimming trunks, beach chairs, parasols, buckets, and shovels."

That caused the other three to stop and stare at Tatsuo with strange looks.

"What?" Tatsuo asked. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Why do you just have stuff like that in your [Inventory]?" Akatsuki asked with a twitching eyebrow.

"it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it." Tatsuo replied.

"So, you're just a hoarder?" Alfonzo asked with a deadpan.

"You'd do the same thing if you could." Tatsuo shot back. "Lici talks about all the stuff you have stored in your storage magic items back on Earth Land. You're just jealous that you can't use any of them on this [Mission]."

"I have no idea what you're talking about." Alfonzo said while turning away. "Anyway, I'm gonna buy a pair of swimming trunks. Go set up a spot on the beach for us. We'll find you when we're done shopping."

After saying his piece, Alfonzo unfolded his metal disk, stepped onto it, and flew away towards a summer apparel store he remembered seeing earlier on their patrol. Shortly afterwards, Akatsuki and Sakura also left, leaving Tatsuo to enter the Hitachi seaside park and set up a place for the quartet to relax.

Before setting up the beach furniture, Tatsuo found a changing room and changed into a pair of black swimming trunks with purple lines running up the sides. Then, he found a good spot on the beach, set up a couple of parasols, four beach chairs, and a cooler filled with cold sodas from his world.

About half an hour later, Alfonzo was the first to arrive. Wearing a pair of royal blue swimming trunks with his upper body bare, Alfonzo drew nearly as many eyes as Tatsuo.

"Yeah, this really was a good idea." Alfonzo said with a smile after signing an autograph. "Since we're still connected to the HPSC, we can react quickly to any distress calls while having a beach day. Honestly, I don't know why more Heroes don't do stuff like this."

"Because most Heroes can't keep track of things going on in most of the city they're assigned to." Tatsuo replied while rolling his eyes. "But with the two of us, we're always watching."

"Okay, Big Brother." Alfonzo said with an eye roll of his own. "Anyway, I'm gonna build a sandcastle. See ya."

Then, without giving Tatsuo a chance to respond, Alfonzo picked up a small shovel and bucket, turned away, and started walking to the shore. And just like he said, he started to gather sand to build a sandcastle, leaving Tatsuo to stare at him dumbfoundedly.

Not long later, Akatsuki, wearing a white and purple bikini with a purple pareo tied around her waist, and Sakura, wearing a pink, flower-patterned, one-piece swimsuit, arrived. While Akatsuki wore a carefree smile as she chatted with Sakura, Sakura looked nervous and slightly embarrassed while responding to her friend. All the while, Sakura continuously stole glances at Tatsuo, hoping to see some kind of reaction to her swimsuit.

"Hey, we're back." Akatsuki said as she and Sakura stepped under the parasol. "*Sigh* I'm really loving this idea."

"Yeah, this is my first time coming to the beach." Tatsuo said with a smile. "It's nice."

"Wait! Are you serious?" Akatsuki asked in a dumbfounded tone.

Sakura also looked at Tatsuo in surprise. Though she had never left Fuyuki in her world, she had at least been to the beach at the city's waterpark.

"Well, you don't get to take too many vacations when you've been kidnapped and are being trained as a weapon for a corporation hellbent on world domination, or whatever fucked up shit they were into." Tatsuo replied with a shrug.

"Fair point." Akatsuki said. Then, with a huff, she flopped down onto one of the beach chairs and laid down to relax. "Anyway, I'm sure Sakura can show you how to enjoy yourself on the beach. Right, Sakura?"

"Wha? I... I mean… Huh?" Sakura stammered, Akatsuki's suggestion snapping her out of her thoughts.

"You don't mind showing Tatsuo-Kun how to have fun at the beach, right?" Akatsuki asked again.

"Oh… No, not at all." Sakura replied. She then put on a sweet smile as she turned to Tatsuo. "Come on, Tatsuo-Kun. Let's go have fun."

"Sure, let's go." Tatsuo replied with a smile of his own. "By the way, that suit looks great on you, Sakura."

The slightly embarrassed blush on Sakura's face exploded in intensity at Tatsuo's compliment. But at the same time, her smile bloomed beautifully, as well.

With that, the group spent their time having fun in their own ways.

Alfonzo continued building his sandcastle. And by the time it was done, he had made a fairly accurate recreation of Nijou Castle.

Meanwhile, Akatsuki spent her time relaxing on a beach chair just enjoying the sound of the waves and the feeling of the wind.

Tatsuo and Sakura spent a bit of time walking around the beach. On their way back, they picked up food for everyone, and the group had lunch together.

After lunch, Sakura joined Akatsuki on another one of the beach chairs, sipping a soda from a can through a straw while watching Tatsuo and Alfonzo.

While Sakura relaxed, Tatsuo spent a bit of time helping Alfonzo put the finishing touches on his recreation of Nijou Castle. Then, when the castle was perfect, he ran towards the ocean to take a swim.

Like that, a few hours passed and the group enjoyed their relaxation. However, just as they were getting ready to go, and Tatsuo was packing all the beach furniture back into his [Inventory], his head snapped up to the sky with an annoyed expression on his face.

"You gotta be kidding me." Tatsuo muttered.

"What's wrong, Tatsuo-Kun?" Sakura asked in a concerned tone after seeing Tatsuo's expression.

"Nothing really." Tatsuo replied while shaking his head. "Just… Our annoyance found us."

"Our annoyance?" Akatsuki asked in a somewhat confused tone. A moment later, however, her eyes flashed with realization as she looked up to where Tatsuo was looking. "Oh, it's her."

"I'm actually surprised it took her so long to find us." Alfonzo replied. "Then again, it's probably on social media that 'm here. So, it's really not that surprising."

"It's because of that autograph you signed." Tatsuo said in a deadpan. "Otherwise, no one would have known we were here."

"Don't put that evil on me, Tatsuo." Alfonzo shot back. "In case you forgot, you're just as famous as I am for the time being. And I'm sure that every girl on this beach posted stuff about 'the Prince of the Void' being here."

"I'm gonna kick your ass, Alfonzo." Tatsuo growled.

"Oh yeah?" Alfonzo asked with a smirk. He then hooked his index finger at Tatsuo as he continued. "Come on then, bring it on."

"Uh… Shouldn't we worry about the incoming, angry… very angry bunny instead of whatever you two are getting up to?" Akatsuki asked with a deadpan.

"You have a point." Alfonzo said while looking at the time on his lPhone. "Well, it's almost time to go back. So, we can just head back to Musutafu before she gets here.'

"Nah… Let's wait until she touches down." Tatsuo said with a smirk. "Everyone, make sure to put on your best smiles and get ready to wave."

"Damn… That's a real dick move." Alfonzo said with a mischievous smile spreading across his face. "I like it."

"You're bad, Tatsuo-Kun." Sakura said while covering her smile with her left hand.

Not long later, Rumi, with a pissed off expression on her face, was close enough to be seen by the naked eye. And she was falling fast from high in the sky. However, as she got closer to the ground, Alfonzo's expression turned from the bright smile he had been wearing to one filled with frustration. He then snapped his head towards Tatsuo.

"Hey, open up a portal under her, now!" Alfonzo barked.

"Huh? Why?" Tatsuo asked while putting on an exaggerated expression of confusion.

"Don't play dumb with me, Tatsuo!" Alfonzo said in an annoyed tone. "You know good and damn well why!"

*Boom!*

However, before Tatsuo could reply, Rumi made her landing. And as it just so happened, she landed right on top of Alfonzo's sandcastle, completely destroying his hours of work.

"No~~~~~~~~~~! My Nijou Castle!" Alfonzo waled.

"Hmph! That's what you get for talking shit." Tatsuo muttered as he crossed his arms in front of his chest.

Meanwhile, Akatsuki and Sakura only stared at the two with helpless expressions. At least that's' what they did until they heard a voice coming from the cloud of sand that was kicked up when Rumi landed.

"I finally found you~." Rumi said as the sand settled around her. "Ah! Damn it! I got sand everywhere. You're all gonna pay for this!"

"Yup! And now it's time to go." Tatsuo said in a cheerful tone. "We gotta get back so we can get ready for our trip tomorrow. Too bad we can't spend more time with you, Usagiyama-San. But you know how it is. See ya next time."

"What!? You better not!" Rumi shouted angrily.

Yet, without giving Rumi anything more than a wave, Tatsuo, with Alfonzo, Akatsuki, and Sakura's hands on his shoulders, [Blinked] back to Alfonzo's gym to bring an end to their day in Hitachinaka.

Meanwhile, Rumi, left behind, stared at the place where the group of four stood for a while with a dumbfounded/pissed off expression on her face. A few moments later, she stomped her foot, kicking up another cloud of sand.

"Damn you, Soramoto! Damn you, Static!" Rumi roared to the sky, surprising all the civilians on the beach. "You better not let me catch you!"

"You really sound like a Villain right now, Usagiyama-San." A familiar voice said from behind Rumi. "A third-rate one, at that."

Quickly spinning around, Rumi was just in time to see Tatsuo pulling his head back through a tear in space before it snapped shut.

Needless to say, that rocketed Rumi's anger to a whole new level. And because of that, she turned towards Musutafu, bent her knees, then…

*Boom!*

… while kicking up another cloud of dust, she leapt into the air, the force of her leap causing a sonic boom.
