Kaden called for a pack meeting. Some were curious to find out why while some were irritated and silently lashed on me.
One older wolf near the wall leaned toward his friend and muttered, “So the Alpha calls a full meeting over a child, and we are all supposed to abandon our own lives for it.”
His friend gave a rough shrug. “Word is the princess almost got snatched, so I guess that’s an emergency to them.”
A woman across from them frowned and gave him a sharp side eye. “Not just any child but the heir. You can imagine how the baby almost got dragged into trouble, and yet you talk as if it is a joke.”
He crossed his arms and let out a huff. “I have work to finish, and I can keep my own house safe without spending half a day worrying over a girl who is not even a male heir.”
A few heads turned after that, and I felt the ugly little shift move through the room.
