Kaden shut the office door, then pulled me in by the waist before I could even exhale, and the second my body hit his his face changed in a way that made my pulse jump all over again, while his hand stayed firm on my hip and his other hand slid up to tuck one stray curl behind my ear as his eyes locked on mine with that dark, hungry focus he got when he had been patient for way too long.
“You were fire in there, baby,” he murmured, his thumb brushing my cheek while he kept me close, “you stood in front of all those mouths and held your ground, and I swear I wanted to drag you out of the room and kiss you right there.”
My mouth went a little dry as my heart picked up speed. “You would have done it too,” I whispered.
He let out a low laugh and leaned in until his lips brushed mine. “I would have,” he replied, and then he kissed me for real, slow at first and then deeper when my hands slid up his chest and held on like I needed something steady.
