Mara chimed in, disgusted by his sudden humility. “Look at him,” she pointed out. “Begging in front of half the fucking kingdom.”
Blake’s head whipped toward her. “Shut up.”
Caleb tightened his grip. “No, let her keep talking. This is getting entertaining.”
Mara glared at him. “Fuck you.”
I would have appreciated it more if I didn’t still have murder in my bloodstream.
Blake looked humiliated now, which improved his face considerably.
“You want to know what I forgive you for?” she asked.
Blake’s face changed fast. Hope. Insane, misplaced hope.
I almost let go of his throat just so I could punch him again.
“Nothing.”
Blake stared at her like she’d driven a knife through his chest.
“You don’t mean that.”
She did not even blink. “I will never forgive you.”
Silence hit again.
My wolf liked that sentence very much.
If it had been up to him, that would have been the end. My claws in Blake’s throat, blood on the ground, done.
