Song Wen's heart clenched as he turned toward the approaching figure.
It was Bai Wei!
Dressed in a plain white robe, her expression icy, Bai Wei hovered outside the pavilion. A palpable chill radiated from her, instantly freezing the pavilion's previously warm atmosphere.
A flicker of panic crossed Xu Mengyu's eyes, her voice trembling slightly as she asked, "Master... what brings you here?"
Bai Wei's face darkened as she snapped, "Return at once!"
Xu Mengyu flinched visibly, clearly terrified of her master. Yet she didn't obey, instead casting a worried glance at Song Wen beside her.
This defiance only fueled Bai Wei's fury. "If you still recognize me as your master, return to the sect immediately!"
After a moment of internal struggle, Xu Mengyu finally mustered her courage. "Master, I beg you, please don't harm Fellow Daoist Lei."
Bai Wei gritted her teeth. "Rest assured, I won't kill him."
Relieved by her master's promise, Xu Mengyu shot Song Wen a reassuring glance before rising from the pavilion. She slowly flew toward the Spirit Jade Palace, her gaze lingering on him with each step.
Bai Wei glared coldly at Song Wen, her body surging with potent spiritual power that formed a transparent, soundproof barrier around them.
"Lei Yue, you dare to seduce my... disciple? Do you think saving her life means I won't kill you?"
Song Wen clasped his hands in a respectful bow, his voice humble.
"Senior Bai Wei, you misunderstand. Fellow Daoist Xu and I share no romantic feelings, only the camaraderie of fellow cultivators."
Song Wen's expression remained calm, but within his Sea of Consciousness, he was communicating rapidly with the shadow void.
Learning that the shadow void could launch a surprise divine sense attack while Bai Wei was off guard, giving them a high chance of severely injuring her, Song Wen felt a sliver of reassurance.
Bai Wei, oblivious to the activity within Song Wen's Sea of Consciousness, continued her furious tirade.
"Do you take me for a fool? The blush on her face hasn't faded! If you hadn't whispered sweet lies, why would she look like this?"
Faced with this irrefutable evidence, Song Wen maintained his composure and continued his sophistry.
"Senior, you're unaware that before you arrived, Fellow Daoist Xu and another member of your sect named Mi Man had a minor dispute. Mi Man may appear gentle and charming, but her true nature is duplicitous and utterly hypocritical. Fellow Daoist Xu, with her fiery temperament, can't stand such pretense. She became so enraged that her face flushed crimson."
Bai Wei smirked coldly. "Lei Yue, you're quite the silver-tongued liar. But do you really think I don't know why you and Mengyu are here?"
Song Wen's heart jolted with alarm. He immediately realized: Mi Man, who had left earlier, must have betrayed them.
"Damn that treacherous bitch!" Song Wen cursed inwardly.
Though his mind raced with panic, Song Wen maintained an outward calm.
"It seems Mi Man alerted you, Senior. But how can you trust her words? Her feud with Fellow Daoist Xu is merely a ploy to use you to punish Xu, indirectly venting her own resentment."
A flicker of contemplation crossed Bai Wei's eyes, but it vanished quickly.
"Lei Yue, I don't care what Mi Man wants, nor do I care if you harbor improper thoughts toward Mengyu. From this day forward, I forbid you from approaching Mengyu ever again."
With that, she waved her hand, unleashing two streams of spiritual power that struck Song Wen's knees.
"Ah..."
Song Wen let out a heart-wrenching scream as his body convulsed violently, as if his bones had been yanked out. He collapsed heavily to his knees.
The two streams of spiritual power had shattered his kneecaps, sending searing pain through his body. He stared wide-eyed, as if his eyes were about to burst from their sockets, his face contorted in agony.
"You men are all the same—utterly worthless!" Bai Wei's delicate face was now a mask of icy fury, her willow-leaf eyebrows arched sharply. "Lei Yue, if this ever happens again, I won't just break your legs. I'll take another one too."
With that, Bai Wei vanished into the void.
As Bai Wei's figure faded from sight, Song Wen's screams gradually subsided until they ceased altogether. He flipped his hand to retrieve a Pill Formula, swallowed it, and channeled his inner spiritual power to forcibly reassemble the shattered bones in his knees.
Song Wen struggled to his feet, his knees emitting a grating, grinding sound with each movement. Wincing at the searing pain, he cast a venomous glance in the direction Bai Wei had disappeared.
He summoned a small flying ship, leaped aboard, and settled into a cross-legged position on the deck. Guiding the vessel, he steered it away from Great Tan City.
Less than a hundred miles into his flight, a figure suddenly appeared in pursuit.
"Fellow Daoist Lei Yue, wait a moment!"
A flicker of malice flashed in Song Wen's eyes. It was Mi Man.
He gradually slowed the Giant Flying Ship without stopping completely, maintaining a steady forward trajectory.
This allowed Mi Man to catch up and board the ship's deck.
"Fellow Daoist Mi Man, what brings you here?" Song Wen asked without rising from his seat, his voice calm.
He was eager to know what scheme this woman was plotting now.
Mi Man glanced at Song Wen's knee, her expression shifting to concern. She swiftly moved before him, crouched down, and asked with feigned worry, "Fellow Daoist Lei, are you alright?"
Song Wen sneered coldly, "Fellow Daoist Mi Man, this injury is all thanks to you. Aren't you afraid of being alone with me?"
Mi Man's eyes widened slightly, a flicker of panic crossing her face, as if she hadn't expected Song Wen to know about her betrayal.
But she quickly regained her composure, her face now filled with feigned grievance, tears even welling up in her eyes.
"Fellow Daoist Lei, you've misunderstood me. The reason I reported your secret meeting with Senior Sister Xu to Senior Bai Wei was because I fell for you at first sight. My only wish is to spend the rest of my life with you. My methods may have been underhanded, but I would do anything to be by your side. I never imagined Senior Bai Wei would injure you."
Song Wen had been secretly pondering how to deal with Mi Man.
Many people had seen her board his Giant Flying Ship. If she were to suddenly die, suspicion would inevitably fall on him, rendering his "Lei Yue" identity unusable.
Yet letting her go unpunished left Song Wen feeling deeply resentful.
Hearing Mi Man's words, Song Wen was both astonished and intrigued. He couldn't fathom what she was up to.
"To earn the favor of a fellow daoist like you is an honor beyond measure," Song Wen replied. "If I could spend my life by your side, it would be a blessing. However, I am well aware of my own limitations. What merit could I possibly possess to capture your heart at first sight?"
"It seems Fellow Daoist Lei doesn't trust me," Mi Man said.
"It's not a matter of trust," Song Wen countered. "I simply find it hard to believe such good fortune could fall upon me."
"Then what would it take for you to believe me?" Mi Man asked.
Song Wen's gaze turned fervent, like a hungry wolf eyeing a helpless lamb. His eyes slowly traced Mi Man's beautiful face, then drifted downward to her full breasts, before continuing lower to the small section of ankle exposed by her crouching posture.
"If you would share a night of pleasure with me, I would believe everything you say."
