Chapter 43 - Fire Meets Steel

The night had deepened by the time Park Hyun Woo stepped out of the Song estate.

The air was cool, carrying the faint scent of night-blooming flowers, and the world beyond the gates was quiet… almost too quiet after the chaos of the evening.

But he didn't leave.

He didn't get into his car.

Instead...

He turned.

Because he already knew where she would be.

The balcony lights glowed faintly above.

And there she was.

Ji Eun stood alone at the edge of the terrace, her figure silhouetted against the city lights. Her hands rested lightly on the railing, her posture calm, but the tension in her shoulders betrayed the storm beneath.

She didn't turn when he approached.

"Following me again?" she said coolly.

Her voice carried just enough irritation to hide everything else.

Hyun Woo stopped a few steps behind her.

"I came to see if you're still standing," he replied.

She let out a soft scoff.

"Disappointed?"

"No," he said simply. "You're exactly where I expected you to be."

Now she turned.

Slowly.

Her eyes met his - sharp, unyielding.

"And where is that?" she challenged.

"On the edge," he said.

A faint pause.

"Deciding your next attack."

A flicker of something passed through her expression.

Not surprise.

Recognition.

Ji Eun straightened, folding her arms across her chest.

"You think you're impressive?" she asked. "Walking in like you control everything?"

"I don't think it," he replied calmly.

"I know it."

Her jaw tightened.

"Then you should know this," she said, stepping closer. "Last night...wasn't damage."

Her voice dropped slightly, her gaze locking onto his.

"It was a warning."

Hyun Woo's eyes darkened, not with anger, but interest.

"I don't ignore warnings," he said.

"Good," she shot back. "Because next time, I won't stop at words."

Silence fell between them.

Heavy.

Electric.
