Chapter 43 - Chapter 43 – Eraño’s Vision

Third-person POV

By the afternoon, the heavy meal of sushi, Paella, and some of his chicharon had made the body of Eraño go into naptime mode in a vacant room. He did so, and he had a strange dream…

Eraño's POV

I was in a cemetery in the middle of the zombie outbreak, and a figure stood in front of me at a distance of around 10-15 meters. He looked like Reina-san, but his eyes were black and hollow. He had a gunshot on his head while holding a broken pistol.

"W-Who are you?" I stammered while being shocked at his distorted look.

"I was Reina's shadow, the distorted version of himself," the other Reina said, "the normal Reina, the one you were supporting, was becoming normal and normal again. The 'Peace Treatments' had done their job and were clever. The brutal violence used on Reina had been calming his tumultuous mind effectively."

Wait, sandali lang, what 'Peace Treatments'?

"That's where Reina-kun requested being tortured by Gen-san and occasionally by Ichiro-san. He provided the requests, savoured the pain to end the storm in his mind for the night, and ended it with the injection of a modified zombie virus to simulate the turning without turning him to a mindless husk. The time can be 7 p.m. or 8 p.m. and will always be one hour after dinnertime."

"Why?" I asked. "Why would he undergo such painful torture to find peace in his mind?"

"Well, because Gen killed Reina's parents on the onset of the first zombie outbreak wave," the other Reina responded; his voice was steady and desperate, "and Reina sought vengeance against him by killing him on Gen-san's own request, and now, Reina regretted it and saved him with Gen-san's subordinates. Reina suffered immense guilt. Traditional medicine and therapy had failed him, so Gen-san came up with this 'Peace Treatment' to save his soul from the void of guilt. Reina also made the On the Brink of Death Serum to anchor his soul into his body."

I was shocked because it confirmed Reina's account of his confession to committing a single attempted murder. Reina regretted it so badly that he was drowning in guilt and regret of biblical proportions.

"Wow…I gasped, feeling bad for the other Reina.

"Yes," the distorted Reina said while looking at his broken pistol. "My pistol was now being smashed by the physical pain sensations during these 'Peace Treatments'."

He then looked at me dead in the eye. "Please, keep this discovery a secret since you know it now. Please keep on supporting him and Gen and anyone in their circle."

The bell rang (I can tell it was from a nearby church/cathedral), and the dream shattered.

I woke up at 2:18 p.m., and I gasped for air. I had been taking a nap for less than 2 hours. I felt empathy for the Spanish Japanese young man. I can tell the psychology of his mind is so different from that of the average person. He was different…

I can tell that this dream was like a vision, a miracle I cannot explain.
