After that, while Tashio helped out by giving a meal of a roasted steak and some potatoes for the zombie-infected SWAT soldier, Ichiro thought of using his former evil self to purge Shu's darkness from him. He looked down at his voice changer, thinking of using simulated dark, demonic voices to heal Shu's shattered soul.
So, he sought permission from Gen.
Hearing that, Gen said, "Hmm…sure, unless Shu allows it."
He looked at Shu, who then nodded and said, "Sure, well, a katana strike…I'll control the number of rituals each night, too."
With that, Ichiro drew out his katana with a mournful shing and lunged at Shu. His blade went through Shu's chest as the On the Brink of Death serum get to work. As Shu holds on the blade, Ichiro adjusted the dials of his voice changer to make his voice darker and demonic.
He chuckled as a rehearsed one. "Don't worry, I'll murder your darkness, despair, and PTSD in cold blood of pain…"
Hearing these words, Shu felt soothed, before Ichiro pulling out his bloody katana.
"Threaten me with a silencer of yours," Shu whispered to Ichiro, "and point it on my chest."
Ichiro obliged, pulled out his silenced pistol, and with the safety lock still on, pointed it at Shu's chest.
"How's this, my brother?" he hissed at him with an imitated hiss of a demon.
Shu nodded, and he liked this by the sensory sight and feeling of being threatened at gunpoint.
Now, once Ichiro had pulled back his silencer, Shu gave the green signal for the modified zombie virus vial as a finale for tonight's ritual. Gen did so, took one from Hayate's vest, and pulled the safety cap of it. The dark green hue provided another sensory relief for Shu. And then, Gen shoved the contents of the stinging serum down Shu's throat, and the virus only simulated, not turning. Shu then fell asleep for the night. It was not even 8 p.m. yet. Now, Gen and Ichiro worked their task of cleaning Shu's wounds and the mess they made. Then, while everyone else were having dinner, they carried his body to his room and got some new clothes from his wardrobe.
After that, Gen went back to his usual research work for the cure while Ichiro visited the headquarters' small prayer room with a Zen Buddhist altar and a lot of incense sticks. He burned some incense sticks and uttered a prayer for his former ninja master, Ken Hamada. Ken was his father, and Ichiro felt the guilt of killing him and half of the ninja school when he became evil in the past.
"I will pray for your souls day and night," Ichiro muttered. "I am also helping a soul to get back from the abyss of his own suffering. "
He offered a small orange as an offering (when the offered fruits are rotting, they will be turn into fertilizer in the courtyard).
Meanwhile, in Shu's room, Gen was reading a dream entry in Shu's red and black spiral-bound notebook. He saw how that dream entry had almost the exact lines of Ichiro when he stabbed Shu as a request from him. That entry was only 5 days ago. This made Shu more of a prophet of his own pain.
Now, Gen put the notebook back on Shu's desk and left the room for the night.
At the same time, Tashio had his meal in the quarantine zone in the second floor since he was a zombie, too. But Kashi was permitted to eat his meal with him at a reasonable distance.
