"Oh, for fuck's sa—" Monica began complaining, but was interrupted when Kali grabbed her arm and pulled her backward.
A violent gust of wind swept across the coast, lifting sand, stones, and small fragments of ice. The sea had begun retreating near the beach, exposing sections of the ocean floor that normally remained submerged.
Kali watched the gigantic wall of water advancing across the horizon.
"Monica, order an evacuation of the coast. Now," Kali commanded as an enormous amount of mana began circulating through her body.
Monica needed a few seconds to react.
"Evacuate?! That thing will hit the entire city if it gets past the barriers!" Monica replied, pointing toward the wave.
"Then you'd better warn the others so that doesn't happen," Kali retorted, looking toward Ariel.
The princess of Atlantis remained near the low wall, watching the wave with wide eyes. Her red hair whipped violently in the wind, but she seemed unable to look away.
