Chapter 37 - Chapter 37

[37: MacArthur's Supreme Commander Nachos]

"Oh, great heavens. Please, help me. Skadi, Moranna, Boreas, Cailleach, Itztlacoliuhqui, Poli'ahu, Yuki-onna, literally anyone, make it cold," Eleanor said as she was on the bus on the way to the camp. Beside her were two drones. These drones' only purpose was to blast as much air conditioning, or cold air, as possible onto Eleanor.

"Are you okay, Eleanor?" Ochaco asked as she noticed Eleanor's discomfort.

"No, I'm dying here," Eleanor said. She was also using her cap to fan herself. The school uniform wasn't helping much either, but at least the skirt let her legs feel the air. The same can't be said for the boys, though. Those pants would make it hotter.

"Is it really that bad here?" Midoriya asked.

"Where I'm from, it's nowhere near this hot at this time of month."

"How cold?" Ochaco asked.

"Well, it depends on the region, but usually between 45 degrees and 65 degrees, though some places sometimes reach a bit higher than 70 degrees."

"Uh…that's super mega hot," Kaminari said.

Eleanor was confused before she realized the misunderstanding. "No, I mean it's in Fahrenheit. I'm using Fahrenheit. Let's see, it's around…" Eleanor did some quick thinking. "...it's around 7 to 19 degrees Celsius, sometimes 21 degrees Celsius."

"Oh, wow, can we live there instead?"' Kaminari asked.

"It's a nightmare in the winter, though. I mean, if you want to live there during the summer months just for the temperature, then I guess it's not so bad, unless you can't tolerate like 19 hours of daylight time, maybe 22 in some places," Eleanor said.

"What? The days are that long?! What about in winter?" Ochaco said in shock.

"Oh, uh, winter is kind of the same in terms of daylight or nighttime hours. Some places only get like three and a half hours of daylight, some have a bit more than six hours of daylight, and some places don't even get daylight; it's night for like 60-something days. Oh, and the temperature gets below zero all the time."

"It must suck to live there during winter," Jiro said.

"Well… there are no mosquitoes and bugs to deal with, so in my opinion, it makes it worth it to prepare for the winter."

"No mosquitoes or bugs? That sounds great! A trip there would sound kind of nice. Is it expensive?" Mina asked.

Eleanor chuckled a little. "Expensive? First of all, if you want to go for a summer trip, that's during peak demand, so prices are higher. And it also depends on excursions, where you'll stay, dining, transportation, and all that stuff. It's like…three to five thousand dollars per person, but that's assuming traveling in America; you'd have to go from Japan, so the airplane ticket will be even more. Let's assume…$1,500. So, it's like…4,500–6,500 dollars per person. Do the conversion to Yen yourself."

Ochaco pulled out her phone and did the conversion. When the result came up, her eyes widened comically, and her face went extra pale as if her ghost had left her mouth.

"That's not so bad," Momo said. She was calm when she saw the price; it was normal for her.

"Not so bad‽ What‽" Ochaco said, even more shocked at how casually Momo said this.

"Maybe some of us can take a trip together? The price wouldn't be so bad," Momo suggested. "Oh, what if we took a trip all over America? We can also go to New York, California and Florida for the theme parks they have, and maybe Hawaii. Is that possible, Eleanor?" Momo asked.

This time, it was Eleanor's turn to be shocked. Momo's proposal to visit all those places in just two weeks was very ambitious at the minimum. "Uh…so, let me get this straight. You want to visit five states, each a very long distance away, all in two weeks? I mean, if your goal was simply just entering and exiting the state, then yeah, it is possible, but if you also want to have some of the experiences there as well, then no, it's not feasible at all. You could spend a week in each of those states at a minimum, with all the things you could do."

"Oh, so not possible?"

"Nope. The best you could do is two states at the absolute most within two weeks. And that's probably only Alaska and California from what you proposed," Eleanor explained.

"I'll talk to my parents about it," Momo said.

Eleanor lazily relaxed back into the seat as the drone continued to blast cold air on her.

"Alright, everyone, we're here. Get off the bus," Aizawa said. Everyone started to get off.

The drones followed Eleanor, continuing their prime directive of keeping Eleanor cool at all costs.

"Eleanor, why are you using your quirk," Aizawa asked.

"To stay cool. Like, no offense, but I'm not going to willingly suffer in this heat," Eleanor said.

"So, are you going to use your quirk at all times, even in public areas?" Aizawa said.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, Aizawa, relax a little. I'm an upstanding and law-abiding citizen. I would never use my quirk illegally. First of all, these drones aren't from my quirk; they are drones I bought at a tech shop and modified to blast cold air, so I can stay cool," Eleanor explained.

Aizawa smirked a little. "That's a good one."

"Hey, uh, are we at the right place? Why are we on a cliff?" Kaminari asked.

Just then, two women appeared along with a small boy. "Welcome! We're here to make your feisty, feline fantasies come to life! I'm Pixie-Bob!"

"And I'm Mandalay! We're the Wild, Wild Pussycats!"

Both of the women, wearing cat-like costumes, appeared.

'Hell yeah, cat-girls are awesome.' Eleanor thought to herself as she saw them.

"The camp is all the way at the base of the mountain. In fact, everything you see is land we own," Mandalay said.

"Uh…but the buses are here?" Kaminari said.

"Oh, we know," Mandalay said with a smirk.

Kamniari tried to back up.

"Kaminari, just accept what we have to do and stop being in Egypt," Eleanor explained.

"Egypt?"

"You're in denial," Eleanor said with a grin.

A few sighs could be heard, and some people face-palmed.

"It's nice to see a good reaction from everyone," Eleanor said as she chuckled a bit.

"You all have three hours to reach the camp. Those who don't arrive by 12:30 pm won't be served lunch," Mandalay said.

"Our training has already started?" Kaminari asked.

"Yes, now go!" Pixie-Bob slammed her hand on the ground and made a landslide of dirt to launch all of the class off the cliff.

"Good luck down there! You have to go through the beast forest to get to the camp! Oh, and feel free to use your quirks as much as you want! This is all private land!" Mandalay shouted from above the cliff.

"That's pretty cool. It's kind of like America. If you own private land, you can set up a private gun-range on it. Nice, private property is awesome." Eleanor got up and patted down her uniform before putting her cap back on. Her cooling drones quickly came to her side, having avoided the landslide.

"That's the first thing that comes to your mind? We just got launched off, and now we have to go through this forest!" Kamnari said.

Eleanor raised an eyebrow. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, now hold on a minute. 'We?' Last time I checked, I'm not French."

"What?"

Eleanor summoned her bow and shot an arrow into the sky. The arrow turned into a helicopter that slowly got bigger and bigger before stabilizing. The well-known and rhythmic thumping sound of the rotor blades could be heard. The helicopter came down and hovered just slightly above the ground, the air making everyone's hair and uniform whip around. Eleanor calmly walked up to the helicopter and got on with the help of the steps, and of course, her cooling drones followed. But what was perhaps a bit scary was the gun that slid into place after she opened the door.

"As you can see, I have my own way of going past the forest! As you say here in Japan. Sayonara!" Eleanor shouted as the helicopter started to fly away, leaving the class by themselves.

"That is so not fair." Jiro said.

Back on the cliff. "Hey, Aizawa! What is this‽" Pixie-Bob shouted as she saw the helicopter completely bypassing the intended training.

"I did tell you she could do stuff like this," Aizawa said.

"What are we even supposed to do? How do we train a quirk like that?" Pixie-Bob said.

"I also have the same question," Aizawa said.

"It can't be that easy now." Pixie-Bob made a flying dirt monster chase after the helicopter, but what happened next dampened her mood a bit.

The helicopter maneuvered into a side position, letting the door face the monster. Eleanor was ready. She had an Mk 19 40mm belt-fed automatic grenade launcher ready and aimed at the dirt monster. She had a vicious grin on her face. "You know how long I've been waiting for this?" With the pull of the trigger, the grenade launcher started firing. M430 grenades, which explode on impact, launched forward. The grenades exploded, instantly destroying the dirt monster. Eleanor smirked.

"Aizawa…does she even need to be here? She already seems to have a good grasp on her quirk," Mandalay said after Eleanor destroyed Pixie-Bob's dirt monster. She was going to complete this easily…barely an inconvenience, you could say.

"She's a bit of an exception. She's here because the policy says so, and because she is a supplemental instructor for the academic classes for the remedial students," Aizawa said.

"Supplemental instructor? Is she that ahead of everyone else?" Mandalay asked.

"Academically? Yes, she is," Aizawa said.

The helicopter descended over the camp. Eleanor opened the door and exited. Her cooling drones were still following her. She recalled the helicopter before she quickly entered one of the buildings for the sweet air-conditioned goodness. She sat on a couch she found and lazily sat on it. "Oh, yeah. This is what I'm talking about. Let's see…it's 10am. What do they call it in Spain again? Oh, right, a siesta. Eh, the time is close enough for me." Eleanor let out a contented sigh and closed her eyes. Given that no one would arrive until the evening, she was going to take a nap.

A few hours later, it was evening. Eleanor was woken up when she heard some commotion outside. She yawned and stretched her arms as she got up from the couch. When she went outside, her cooling drones followed her again. What she saw was a bad sight. Everyone looked exhausted and dirty.

"Hey, everyone, you're finally here," Eleanor greeted them.

"Eleanor!" Bakugo tried to rush at her, but Kirishima held him back.

"Wow! You all got here faster than I expected! Except for her, of course. But either way, job well done! Especially, you, Eleanor, but also you three," Pixie-Bob pointed at Todoroki, Bakugo, and Midoriya. "Yes! You four will be my kittens! I'll groom you well!"

Eleanor's eyes widened, and her eyebrows shot up. 'That is a wild way to say something. Heh, 'wild.' Pun intended. Although…' Eleanor was thinking about something as she looked at Pixie-Bob.

"Mandalay, is she okay?" Aizawa asked.

"She's at the age where she's looking for a mate," Mandalay said.

Eleanor heard this. This was very good information. She had to resist the urge to rub her hands together. 'I'd definitely let Pixie-Bob groom me. Oh, man, am I getting freaky? Stupid brain and hormones. Buuut….'

"What about your ag—" Midoriya was shut up quickly by Pixie-Bob when she put a paw over his mouth.

"We don't talk about that. I'm 18 at heart," Pixie-Bob said.

Eleanor went up behind Pixie-Bob and whispered into her ear, quiet enough for only Pixie-Bob to hear it, "Don't be so insecure, Pixie-Bob. And it's public information either way; someone can search it up whenever they want. In fact, trying to stop people from talking about it will actually bring more attention to it. It's called the Streisand effect."

"Huh‽" Pixie-Bob turned to Eleanor. "Hey, you're supposed to be helping me out here."

"Pixie-Bob, relax a little. I understand that some people may be a bit insecure about certain things, but you're part of the Wild, Wild Pussycats. So try to be PAW-sitive," Eleanor smirked.

Pixie-Bob sighed and facepalmed. Most of Eleanor's classmates also sighed. Even Aizawa was a little affected, but he tried to hide it.

"Since when did Eleanor start making all these puns?" Mina whispered to Jiro.

"I don't know, but I really hope it stops." But just then, something dawned on Jiro. "Oh no, are we going to every cat pun out there?"

Back with Eleanor and Pixie-Bob, "First of all, I don't really care about that stuff. Age isn't much of a factor for my preferences, especially when there are quirks that extend life or make someone younger, or look younger," Eleanor said.

"You think someone would want me?" Pixie-Bob asked.

Eleanor was a little taken aback by how fast the conversation moved to this subject, but she didn't mind. She recomposed herself and made her voice as smooth and silky as she could. "Well, the older the vine, the smoother the wine." Eleanor got close to Pixie-Bob, but not too close.

"Wow, you have quite the tongue on you. You probably have boys falling all over for you," Pixie-Bob said as she chuckled, covering her face with one of her paws and looking away, trying to hide something. (A/N: There's no way what I think is happening is happening. Guys, is this "rizz" as they say?)

"Hmm…sure, right. Boys. Although you did say you want to groom me, right? I wouldn't mind it. You know, I like my girls a little bit older." Eleanor's voice lowered as she got close to whisper into Pixie-Bob's ear, "Let me make you feel how you look."

"Okay, okay, okay, alright, let's, uh, end this here. We have dinner prepared for all of you, so let's go eat!" Mandalay quickly interrupted Eleanor and Pixie-Bob.

Most of the class glanced at each other, unsure what to make of what they just saw.

"Hey, uh, do you think Eleanor is attracted to girls?" Mina asked in a whisper to Ochaco.

"Huh? What? Why are you asking me, Mina?" Ochaco was kind of flustered, but the image was already in her mind. Eleanor and Pixie-Bob. Ochaco held her hand up to her face to hide it.

"Or maybe she just matched Pixie-Bob's energy?" Mina said.

"Let's just eat and not gossip about this, Mina. We just went through a forest for the whole day and all of us are tired," Ochaco said.

"Except Eleanor," Mina said.

"Yeah, except her. And she has air conditioning whenever she wants. I'm so jealous," Ochacho said.

(A/N: No, it's not Pixie-Bob)
