[Chapter Size: 2400 Words.]
Third Person POV
Cokeworth.
...
...
Severus's eyes opened the next moment with a breathless jolt. He was sweating and trying to calm himself as if he had been in the strangest dream he had ever experienced, while staring at his own hands, still breathing with difficulty.
He had seen himself again in his room — his old room.
"It wasn't a dream...", he thought for a moment.
Soon after, the memory returned clearly. He had not come back as Morou Kaind. Now he was only Severus.
Morou would no longer exist.
The place smelled of dust, old furniture like mold. Severus looked around. The bed was old, the furniture ancient and eaten away by termites. He took a deep breath and began to feel his physical strength — something a seven-year-old child should not possess. He also felt his magical power, which he quickly suppressed. If he released it, he could make the entire magical world tremble due to his enormous amount of magic.
He no longer had the system. But the system had never been more than an organization of the Monarch's original powers.
Severus used to have the inventory, but now he possessed an infinite storage space with his old belongings, without any limitation. The inventory, once restricted, now also had no barriers.
The first thing he did was materialize his wand — the wand that had been modified in the final battle. A wand with an angel's heart as its core and wood from the Tree of Eden, a sacred tree to which only the Rulers had access. The very material of that Ruler's magical staff was made from this wood, inside the magical steel.
He felt that the wand could handle up to three thousand points of magic, if he were still summarizing it within the system's parameters.
"So this is where it all begins...", he murmured, observing the wand in silence.
A sound caught his attention from downstairs. Probably his parents.
'His mother was alive.' That thought invaded him immediately.
Severus could not prevent the sudden emotion that rose within him. The first thing he did was pick up a book from the bedside table and make it float toward him, using transfiguration to turn it into a mirror.
When he looked at himself, he saw a scowling seven-year-old boy. His nose was crooked again, a consequence of his father having broken it. He was certainly an unhappy and frightening boy to the other children in the neighborhood.
Severus simply took a deep breath at his appearance. Then he transformed the mirror back into the original book and placed it on the dresser. As he stood up, he saw his second-hand clothes.
A darkness began to fill his body, and the clothes started to transform. That was not transfiguration, nor any common spell. It was something beyond — something he had received with the end of the system. He could now use a new ability, different from transfiguration.
It was creation.
An ability comparable to playing God.
Now he could create almost anything from the darkness itself.
'After all, everything in the universe came from it, for there had only been darkness at the beginning of existence.' Severus could not help but think about that as he listened to voices coming from downstairs.
"Are you going to take much longer with that, woman!?" Severus could hear his father shouting at his mother.
Severus remembered all the abuse this man had committed. He remembered that his mother would be killed in less than seven years. It was when Severus was fourteen in the other timeline that she had been murdered. After that, Severus had completely surrendered himself to darkness, hating Muggles as if they were all like his father.
He finally opened the door and went downstairs.
His father was grumbling, sitting at the table, casting looks full of contempt at Eileen, his wife and Severus's mother, who remained hunched in the kitchen making coffee.
Severus watched them in silence.
There was hatred in his father. There was fear in his mother.
The Hatred Potion and the Love Potion, enhanced to last a lifetime — an extremely cruel and forbidden type, accessible only through the richest and rarest ingredients — were the reason for everything.
The Prince fortune had been worth it for Eileen's brothers to invest so much in those potions.
Soon he was noticed. His father turned his face toward him, his eyes heavy with irritation.
"So you're awake, you little bastard? Freak walking in like that without saying anything, staring like you own the place!" he snarled angrily.
His mother immediately looked back, her expression worried, pressing her lips together.
"Severus, go make your bed. I'll call you when breakfast is ready," she asked.
His father would certainly beat him if he stayed there in the kitchen. She wanted to protect him. She preferred that he come downstairs only after her husband left for work, as they always arranged, so he would not have to deal with him.
But Severus did not answer.
Instead, he looked at her with compassion. How could they have done this to his mother?
He was no longer the naive seven-year-old Severus Snape. He was a seventeen-year-old young man, carrying the experience of a man over thirty who had spent most of his life fighting in the Order, not to mention that he had fought every kind of monster in this world since he had received the system.
He had faced impossible situations. Even the most powerful wizards of that era trembled before him. He was the most powerful being that had ever emerged in that world, surpassing even the Ruler he had faced in the final battle — even though the Ruler had given him his own heart. Severus knew that his magic had surpassed his.
The battle would have dragged on if the Ruler had continued fighting. That was why he had weakened himself on purpose, strengthening Severus. Their fight would have destroyed all of Great Britain. The Ruler also did not want to cause such massive death.
It was the solution that Steve — if that was really his name — had found. Severus had to admit that to himself.
He looked back at his mother, who was watching him with growing concern at his silence.
"Hey, boy! Lost your tongue now? Gone mute? Answer when this damn woman talks to you!" his father snarled from the table where he was sitting.
"Please, Tobias, he doesn't seem well," his mother pleaded.
But Tobias only slammed his fist against the table. "Do you really think that's an excuse for a weak and useless child like him—"
He had not even finished the sentence when his mouth simply closed. His lips sealed completely. He could only groan, unable to speak.
His mother's eyes widened and she looked at Severus, who merely cast a cold glance at his father. She was stunned to realize that he had used magic like that — and with such precision.
Tobias immediately stood up, filled with hatred, advancing toward Severus.
Eileen ran to stand in front of her son, trying to protect him. He had cast accidental magic, and Tobias would beat him — that was Eileen's greatest fear.
But something happened.
The chair where Tobias had been sitting suddenly created chains, binding him by the torso before pulling him back and forcing him to sit down again. The chains completely immobilized him.
Eileen did not understand what had happened. She only saw Tobias being restrained to the chair, unable to speak, choking as he stared directly at his own son.
She looked in shock at Severus and saw... Severus's eyes had changed.
They were no longer dark.
They glowed purple.
"Severus... you..." Eileen gasped.
Severus sighed and looked at his mother with pity. "I'm sorry, Mother, but I'll have to free you from this prison."
He made a slight movement with his hand, and Eileen was paralyzed at the same instant. Then Severus levitated, rising until he touched her forehead with a finger, while she remained there, stunned, trapped, yet able to see her own son floating in the air.
First, he removed the effects of the Love Potion from within her.
Then, he transmitted certain memories — their meeting after death, when he had summoned her as a ghost with the power of the resurrection stone.
Eileen immediately broke free from the paralysis Severus had cast. He descended back to the floor.
She stepped back, breathless, staring at him. "Severus..." she murmured.
"It's going to be all right now, Mother," he said calmly.
Then he turned his attention to Tobias, who was still bound, now looking with anger — and fear. This time, real fear.
He had seen his son float. He had seen what he had done. He also noticed the well-made clothes Severus was wearing — clothes he had never had before.
The fear grew even more when Severus made Tobias levitate, lifting him into the air in the middle of the kitchen.
"First, I will remove the Hatred Potion that is in you. After that, I want you to disappear completely," Severus said, in a tone that sounded like an order.
Tobias could not even resist as Severus touched his forehead, completely removing the effects of the potion.
Then, the chains disappeared.
Severus released him, and Tobias was thrown against the floor, falling with a groan of pain before sliding toward the entrance of the kitchen.
"I want you to go to work now. I don't care if you haven't had breakfast. Go to work. When you return, my mother and I will no longer be in your life. Do you understand?"
That was a veiled threat — something a seven-year-old child should never say.
But Tobias felt fear.
His lips returned to normal the next instant, but Severus gave him no chance to speak. He merely raised his hand, and Tobias felt an invisible force hurl him out of the house. He was dragged across the living room, thrown through the door that opened on its own and cast into the yard. The door slammed shut right after.
Severus landed on the floor and looked at his mother, who stared at him without knowing what to do.
"I'm sorry for this, Mother, but it was necessary," he said.
"Severus... what is happening? How are you here?"
She knew she had died because of Tobias. She knew she had met Severus when he was seventeen. But she did not understand what was happening now.
"I came to change the future, Mother. Soon, I will have to leave this world. I will be gone for a while, but I will return. I want you to be safe until then. We are leaving here. We need to arrange everything today. I don't have much time."
His mother still looked at him in silence, stunned by everything that had happened. She glanced at the living room door. Tobias had not returned. He seemed to have fled.
Then she looked back at her son.
Before she realized it, she was already stepping into a portal beside him, after being convinced to organize her life and abandon Tobias once and for all, acknowledging that she had lost her intense feelings for him.
To say she was not disoriented would be a lie.
She was worried.
Afraid.
Her son said he did not have much time, that he would leave soon, that he only needed to ensure she was safe.
She was desperate.
Severus was going to leave.
But he had shown her a world filled with wars and destruction. He had convinced her that countless planets and civilizations would suffer if he did not act. That was why he needed to depart.
Severus opened a portal in a dark alley directly into the black market, beside Diagon Alley. The light certainly caught the attention of a few people, but not as much as if he had opened it in the middle of the crowd with aurors active elsewhere.
That was why he chose that place.
"Severus, what do you intend to do?" she asked.
She did not know what he would do. She simply followed him.
"First, take your wand back, Mother."
Severus handed over the wand that had been hidden at home. He wanted her to have something to defend herself.
She hesitated for a moment, looking at the wand extended in her son's hand, but nodded. It had been a long time since she had used magic. She did not even know if she still could.
When her fingers touched the wand, Severus released a small amount of energy, which flowed directly into her, strengthening her.
Eileen became more powerful than she had ever been — as strong as a Hogwarts professor or a Death Eater, at that moment.
Enough to defend herself.
She herself felt an energy run through her body when she touched the wand, without knowing that her son had interfered — though she suspected it slightly.
After handing the wand to his mother, Severus looked ahead. Two men were approaching the alley, drawn by the light that had appeared there. The portal had already closed, but they still stared, stunned, at an apparently fragile woman and a child who looked at them without any fear.
"What do we have here? A woman and a child. Did they wander in here by mistake?" one of them laughed.
The other was about to say something, already holding his wand, but he had no time to react. With a simple movement of Severus's hand, both were thrown backward, their heads striking the walls before they fell to the ground, unconscious.
His mother was startled by that.
"It seems there are disadvantages to looking like a child," Severus murmured.
Right after, his body began to grow. Eileen watched, stunned, as her son transformed before her eyes. His body lengthened, his clothes following the change, adjusting naturally.
Severus now appeared to be about twenty years old — older than he had been when he returned to the past. He had chosen that age to appear as an adult and avoid being underestimated so easily. Even so, his gaze was dangerous, his eyes faintly glowing purple.
"Come, Mother," he said.
Eileen looked at him, still not knowing what to say, but simply nodded and followed him as they stepped into the streets of the black market.
