The passage had been carved deep into the island's rocky foundation, winding downward before extending beyond the island's natural boundaries.
Its other end opened directly onto the seabed, far enough from Emerald Cove's shores to keep anyone watching the island from noticing those who used it.
The tunnel had been prepared as an escape route long before the imperial cultivators arrived. Actually, it was dug to prepare for the Kalingoot's invasion in the past but due to various reasons, Aksai didn't get to use it. But fortunately or unfortunately, it found its use anyway.
Aksai had hoped he would never need to use it under such circumstances, but he had learned not to place his hopes above practical preparations.
