Chapter 434 - Ch 240 - Chakra Natures

Back in Konoha

Inside the quiet training field, the afternoon sun filtered through the leaves, casting long shadows on the ground. Two figures stood face-to-face in the middle of the clearing, the air tense with unspoken expectations.

Kakashi slowly reached into his pocket and pulled out a small slip of paper, holding it delicately between his fingers. His single visible eye curved slightly above his mask.

Sasuke's gaze sharpened, his hands unconsciously curling into fists at his sides.

"What is that?" He asked, his voice calm but edged with impatience.

"This," Kakashi replied, raising the paper so the sunlight caught it, "is a chakra paper."

Sasuke narrowed his eyes.

The name sounded simple, almost unimpressive, and yet Kakashi's tone carried a gravity that made him straighten.

Kakashi tilted his head. "Before I explain, there are some things you need to understand. I'm sure you already know that most shinobi's chakra leans toward a particular element. The elements are Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, and Lightning."

He paused, watching Sasuke carefully. "Take your clan, for instance. The Uchiha… naturally attuned to fire. That's why they excel at Fire Release techniques."

Sasuke's breath hitched slightly as his mind flashed back to his father.

The memory of standing in front of him, learning the Great Fireball Technique, surged into his thoughts. The warmth of the flames, the pride in his father's voice, the way he had once felt worthy of the Uchiha name.

"Yes… I know," Sasuke muttered, his tone laced with a mix of nostalgia and bitterness.

Kakashi studied him quietly. "You possess Fire Release because of your bloodline. But the Uchiha often have more than just fire within them. Many wield more than one element."

"...and that is why," He held the paper higher, "this is necessary."

Sasuke's eyes flickered with curiosity, though he forced himself to remain composed. "So… I pass my chakra into it?"

Kakashi's voice suddenly grew sharper. "Sasuke! If you pour your chakra carelessly, the paper will simply ignite and burn to ashes. That would tell us nothing."

Sasuke frowned, irritation flashing across his face. "Then how—"

"Listen carefully," Kakashi interrupted, his tone calm but firm, the way only a seasoned teacher could command. He took a step closer, lowering his voice like he was letting Sasuke in on a great secret. "You must visualize. Shape your chakra... Imagine not just fire… but earth, water, wind, or lightning. Reach for them. Only then will this paper show your true affinity."

Sasuke's chest rose and fell as he absorbed every word. He clenched his fists tighter. 'Visualize? Hmph. If that's what it takes…'

"And how exactly will the paper react?" Sasuke asked, his voice sharp, hiding the curiosity boiling inside.

Kakashi held the paper flat on his palm and explained with deliberate patience. "If it wrinkles, you are lightning. If it tears cleanly in half, that is wind. If it becomes damp, then water. If it crumbles, earth. And if it burns, as I said, fire."

He paused, letting the weight of his words sink in. "This paper is not ordinary. It is cut from trees grown and fed entirely by chakra. It reacts even to the faintest spark."

Sasuke stared at the slip of paper, his Sharingan itching to awaken out of sheer anticipation. "Tch. Then let's end this."

He snatched the paper from Kakashi's hand, his black eyes burning with determination.

As he held it between his fingers, his breath slowed. 'Fire… I already know that. But what else?'

He began reciting in his mind like a mantra. 'Earth… Water… Wind… Lightning…'

Each word carried an image of solid rock, flowing rivers, endless skies, and a sudden flash of thunder tearing the world apart.

Sweat formed on his temple. His chakra gathered at his fingertips. The paper trembled slightly.

Crkkk!

The paper wrinkled violently, folding and creasing as if crushed by an unseen hand.

Sasuke's eyes widened for a fraction of a second before narrowing. Kakashi's lone visible eye sharpened.

'As I thought… He's the same as me,' Kakashi reflected, though he said nothing immediately, letting Sasuke savor the discovery.

Sasuke stared at the paper, his lips parting. A strange heat rose in his chest, but it wasn't fire. It was exhilaration as his heart thundered in his chest.

"Lightning…" He whispered.

Finally, Kakashi nodded, his tone both confirming and encouraging. "That's right, Sasuke. You're lightning-natured."

For a moment, Sasuke froze. Then, slowly, a smirk spread across his face.

The cool, controlled façade cracked, revealing raw satisfaction beneath. He finally felt his progress.

He clenched the crumpled paper in his fist, holding it like a trophy. 'This is it. Another step... Another weapon. Another path toward my goal. One day, I will surpass Naruto.'

Kakashi watched him silently. He knew what that expression meant. It was a mixture of ambition, hunger, and the first spark of something dangerous. But for now… for now, it was also the look of a boy who had just glimpsed the vastness of his potential.

"Good," Kakashi said at last, his voice steady. "With lightning at your command, your path to power opens wider than before. But remember, Sasuke... elemental affinity is only the beginning. What you do with it will decide everything."

Sasuke looked at him, his dark eyes gleaming with resolve. "Then teach me. I'll master it. I won't waste this."

Kakashi's eye curved again, unreadable. "I expected nothing less."

"Lightning Nature…" His voice was calm, but the way he spoke carried the weight of battle experience. "It is perfectly suited for offense. Its speed… its sharpness… its destructive precision. A single spark can pierce, a single surge can obliterate. Lightning is the element of assassination and annihilation."

Sasuke's lips twitched into the faintest smirk. That sounded exactly like the kind of power he wanted.

But Kakashi's tone suddenly cooled. "Yet… Lightning has almost no defensive capability. Unlike Earth or Water, it cannot shield. It can only counter. Lightning against Lightning… or through overwhelming force. At its heart, it is a blade, not a shield."

Sasuke's eyes narrowed. 'A blade… That suits me just fine.'

"Remember this, too," Kakashi continued, his gaze steady, "Lightning cuts through Earth and Water easily. But against Wind…" He let the words hang, deliberate. "Wind slices Lightning apart. And yet, when Lightning is combined with Fire? The destructive potential multiplies several times over."

Sasuke inhaled sharply, his thoughts racing. 'Lightning and Fire… my two natures. If I can master both… I can surpass even him.'

His fists clenched at his sides, knuckles pale.

Kakashi observed the flicker in Sasuke's eyes and spoke softly. "That hunger in you, it can push you forward… or destroy you."

Sasuke's gaze snapped up. "Don't underestimate me. I'll control it."
