Chapter 162: Class D and Class C Will Switch Places!
After Chabashira contacted them, the guardians of Ike, Yamauchi, and Sudo came to the school from outside.
The moment they arrived, all three glared furiously at their children, and Ike and Yamauchi's guardians gave the two boys a harsh beating.
While Ike and Yamauchi cried miserably, the three guardians signed the withdrawal forms with grim expressions and finalized the expulsion agreements with the school.
None of them argued with the administration or begged for leniency. They simply took the three students away in silence.
When the students originally enrolled, the school had already signed confidential agreements with their guardians, including clauses concerning expulsion. Because of those agreements, Ike and the others' guardians didn't have the guts to cause trouble with the school.
Thus, Ike Kanji, Yamauchi Haruki, and Sudo Ken officially became part of the school's past. From this day onward, Class D no longer had those three students.
...
After changing into their outdoor shoes, Yuto and Kikyo headed toward the first-year noticeboard.
Surprisingly, quite a few students were gathered there.
"Yuto, it looks like they posted the midterm results for every first-year class. Want to take a look?" Kikyo asked.
"Of course."
The two walked toward the noticeboard.
Several Class C students standing nearby noticed Yuto approaching and immediately stiffened.
"Shimizu Yuto is coming. Let's get out of here."
"What? Yeah, let's go!"
They hurried away from the noticeboard.
Nowadays, whenever Class C students saw Yuto, they reacted as though they had encountered a demon. They either avoided him or fled outright, unwilling to remain anywhere near him.
Hiyori was the only exception.
She still maintained close private contact with Yuto.
It wasn't only Class C that avoided him. Class B students also seemed to hold a certain fear of him.
However, Class B's little angels were nowhere near as frightened as Class C. When they noticed Yuto, they merely took a couple of unconscious steps backward.
With the Class C students leaving and the Class B students giving way, Yuto and Kikyo easily reached the front.
Several new notices had been posted.
There were the midterm results for all four first-year classes, the list of new student council members, the names of students expelled for failing the midterm, and the penalties imposed on their classes.
Classes A and B had no expulsions.
Class C lost five students.
Class D lost three.
Yuto skimmed over the names of the five expelled Class C students before turning to Class C's results.
He quickly found Ryuen's scores.
Mathematics: 36.
Japanese: 54.
English: 33.
Chemistry: 41.
Social Studies: 59.
"Ryuen's lowest score was English, but Class C's passing line must've been ridiculously low if thirty-three was enough," Yuto clicked his tongue and remarked.
Kikyo nodded in surprise.
If thirty-three points counted as a pass, Class C's English average had to be below sixty-six.
Yuto looked over the Class C English scores and mentally calculated the passing threshold.
32.7.
After reaching the number, he clicked his tongue.
"Ryuen barely passed English."
He truly had.
The school rounded decimal passing thresholds to the nearest whole number.
A threshold of 32.7 became thirty-three.
And Ryuen had scored exactly thirty-three.
He had survived by the narrowest possible margin.
Yuto then reviewed Class C's overall performance.
Their scores were still similar to what they had shown during the earlier quizzes: generally low across the class, which naturally kept their passing thresholds low.
Aside from the gentle Hiyori and a student named Kaneda Satoru, Class C had almost no academically outstanding students.
Class D was completely different.
During this midterm, an unusually large number of students had performed well.
Shimizu Yuto, Sakura Airi, Karuizawa Kei, Kushida Kikyo, Matsushita Chiaki, Ayanokouji Kiyotaka, Hirata Yosuke, Yukimura Teruhiko, Koenji Rokusuke...
Nine academically strong students out of forty.
Actually, it should have been ten.
Suzune was also exceptionally capable, but that tsundere snow fox had deliberately controlled her scores around fifty-one to reduce Class D's passing thresholds.
Among all the strong students in Class D, Yuto's performance was the most absurd.
He had scored a perfect one hundred in every subject.
When the students around the noticeboard saw those results, they were shocked for a moment before accepting them surprisingly calmly.
After all, everyone already knew Shimizu Yuto was a monster.
Wasn't getting perfect scores in every subject exactly the sort of thing a monster like him would do?
"Yuto, look over here!"
Kikyo tugged on his sleeve and pointed in dismay at a notice concerning expulsion penalties.
"Every student expelled for failing the midterm costs their class three hundred class points!"
"Class C lost five students, so they lose fifteen hundred class points. Class D lost three, so we lose nine hundred!"
"Does that mean Class D now has negative nine hundred class points?"
"Don't worry, Kikyo. Once class points reach zero, they can't fall any lower. So even after losing nine hundred, we're still at zero," Yuto explained with a smile.
"Oh, good."
Kikyo, thoroughly relieved, patted her overly full and perky chest. She knew Yuto intended to lead Class D all the way to Class A, so dropping to negative nine hundred class points would have been disastrous!
Class C had lost fifteen hundred class points due to five expulsions, which also reduced them to zero.
Having two classes simultaneously sitting at zero class points was certainly rare, though not unprecedented.
"It's fortunate the expulsion penalties were applied first," Yuto said quietly. "If the school had awarded the midterm points first and then deducted the expulsion penalties, everything we earned from this exam would've disappeared too."
"Yuto, how many class points will we earn from the midterm?" Kikyo asked curiously.
"I don't know. They never gave us the exact calculation formula."
"I know, Shimizu-kun. Would you like me to tell you?"
A cheerful female voice suddenly entered their conversation.
Yuto and Kikyo turned around.
Sakayanagi Arisu and Hashimoto Masayoshi were approaching, accompanied by six other students.
Katsuragi Kohei was among them.
Judging by the way the six clustered around Katsuragi, they were clearly members of the Katsuragi faction.
Arisu smiled at Yuto.
"So, would you like me to explain how the school calculates class points from the midterm?"
"No need to trouble yourself. We'll find out from our homeroom teacher in a few days anyway," Yuto replied with a smile.
"That may be true, but knowing now would satisfy your curiosity, wouldn't it?"
"I'm not particularly curious."
"Even a small amount of curiosity is still curiosity."
Faced with the strangely persistent silver-haired loli, Yuto sighed.
He had the feeling Arisu would not leave him alone until she got to explain exactly how many points Class D had earned.
"All right, Sakayanagi-san. Please satisfy my curiosity."
"Gladly."
Arisu looked at Class D's midterm results and thought briefly.
"Class D should receive eighty-seven class points based on the examination results."
"However, because three students were expelled for failing, five class points are deducted for each one. That means another fifteen points lost."
"Eighty-seven minus fifteen is seventy-two..." Kikyo murmured. "Seventy-two really isn't much."
Seventy-two class points multiplied by one hundred meant only 7,200 personal points.
That would be the amount each Class D student received from the school next month.
Kikyo already had five hundred thousand personal points Yuto had given her as spending money, so 7,200 no longer seemed particularly impressive.
Arisu continued with a smile.
"However, the school also awards fifty class points to the student with the highest overall midterm average."
"That student is Shimizu-kun."
"So Class D's final reward from the midterm will be 122 class points."
Yuto smiled.
"So once those points are awarded, Class D becomes Class C."
"Correct."
Arisu nodded with a faint smile.
"In fact, even without the extra fifty points Shimizu-kun earned, Class D would still surpass Class C."
"Class C lost five students, and their overall academic performance was weaker than Class D's, so they won't receive many points from the exam."
The Class C students would never be able to accept that reality.
In a single midterm examination, they had been overtaken by those bottom-ranked guys from Class D.
Class C would fall to Class D.
Meanwhile, the so-called defective bottom class would leap upward and become the new Class C.
"Shimizu-kun, you previously told me you expected to get a 'pretty good' score on the midterm."
"Perfect scores in every subject are merely 'pretty good' to you?" Arisu asked with amusement.
"I didn't know I'd get perfect scores. Your results were excellent too, Sakayanagi-san. You almost got perfect scores in every subject yourself."
Only Arisu's social studies score had fallen short of one hundred.
She had achieved perfect scores in the other four subjects.
Standing beside her, Hashimoto inwardly clicked his tongue.
His princess and Shimizu Yuto were both academic monsters.
Their grades were completely beyond his reach.
"Sakayanagi-san, I still have somewhere to be, so I'll leave first," Yuto said.
"Reporting to the student council?"
Arisu smiled.
"Then I won't keep you. Take care, Shimizu-kun."
"Mm."
Although Yuto intended to head to the student council room, he did not leave immediately.
Instead, he walked toward Katsuragi, who was quietly studying the noticeboard nearby.
"Katsuragi-kun, let's exchange contact information. There's something I want to discuss with you in a few days."
"...All right."
Katsuragi calmly nodded.
He took out his school phone and exchanged contact information with Yuto.
Arisu narrowed her eyes as she watched.
She could not understand why Yuto had suddenly asked for Katsuragi's contact information, nor what he intended to discuss with him.
"Princess, do you think Shimizu Yuto plans to build a relationship with Katsuragi and support him as Class A's leader?" Hashimoto whispered.
"I'm not certain, but it's possible."
Arisu casually replied, "Keep an eye on Katsuragi from now on. See if you can find out what the two of them discuss."
"Understood."
Yuto had absolutely no intention of interfering in Class A's leadership struggle.
The only reason he wanted Katsuragi's contact information was because he intended to pull Katsuragi into the student council and turn him into his tool.
Nothing more.
After successfully obtaining Katsuragi's contact information, Yuto said goodbye to the Katsuragi faction.
"Kikyo, let's go."
"Coming~"
Kikyo gave the Class A students a sweet smile and cheerfully said goodbye before quickly catching up with Yuto.
After the two left, Arisu, Hashimoto, and the Katsuragi faction remained around the noticeboard for a short while before gradually departing as well.
As they left the noticeboard behind, Kikyo noticed that there weren't many students left on the path. Like Karuizawa Kei, she wrapped herself around Yuto's arm, pressing it tightly against her incredibly soft chest as if tempting him.
Yuto glanced sideways at Kikyo clinging to his arm and teased, "Kikyo, aren't you worried someone might see us like this? I thought you wanted everyone to believe you were single."
"There's nobody around right now~" Kikyo rubbed her cheek against Yuto's arm affectionately, her face flushed with a blush, her eyes carrying a hint of allure as she said, "Yuto, let's go on a date at the dorms tonight."
"Sure."
"Mm~ Then I'll stop by Keyaki Mall and pick out something nice to wear." Kikyo said in a highly alluring tone, and Yuto found himself looking forward to this evening.
