"Six hundred!"
"How about four hundred? I only have four hundred on me!"
"No, no, at least five hundred eighty!"
"I only have four hundred!"
The taxi drove away, leaving Savanna Moger disappointed, standing by the roadside. She watched it go farther and farther away as a piercing cold wind howled past, like a knife scraping her tear-stained face.
Turstin Muller witnessed the scene, walked over, opened his wallet, casually pulled out a wad of cash, and handed it to Savanna Moger: "Take it!"
A cat crying for a mouse is false sympathy!
Savanna Moger stretched out her hand, then withdrew it, turned her head, and walked toward the bus stop while making a call: "Mom, I can't make it back tonight. Hmm, I'll have to take tomorrow morning's ride. How's Dad now? That's good, you take a rest too. Goodbye!"
Turstin Muller drove his car up to Savanna Moger: "I happen to be going to Whiteriver to see a friend. Get in, it's on the way!"
