RUBY'S POV
I scowled once he turned away to face his horse.
It was only then that I was able to adjust my stance.
It was, though, the moment he had set eyes on me that I had been transfixed, unable to move.
I watched as he got on his horse and rode off.
Most of all, I wondered why he had not yet called me to answer for my crimes.
Why had I not been executed yet?
Why was my head still on my shoulder?
And again, the fact that Bale was his brother was so ridiculous.
They were so different.
Even when Aiden had come in, the way both brothers had spoken to each other. She knew there was something amiss.
There was some tension between the two brothers.
What she couldn't place her finger on.
"He is so ravishing, isn't he?" A female voice said behind me.
I turned around and saw it was none other than Alice, Martha's daughter.
"You look well and swell," I remarked to her.
She was the one I had been sent to bring medicines for.
