This time, he skillfully caught the grain of rice.
With his tongue holding his prize, he mumbled.
"I told you... I can do it!"
That pride was unmistakable!
Kasper Edith burst into cheerful laughter.
"That's right, you really did it, come on, high five to celebrate!"
He extended his large hand, and Osbert Montgomery withdrew his tongue, chewing on the cooled grain of rice. He jumped off the chair, reaching out his small hand to sharply clap together with the big hand.
Father and son exchanged smiles.
Celebrating over a single grain of rice was something Kasper Edith couldn't have imagined before.
But today, everything felt so natural.
All of this was thanks to Osbert Montgomery.
The little guy excitedly spoke on the floor, "In a bit, I want to tell Mommy about this."
"Okay." Kasper Edith extended the spoon, "Come on, keep eating!"
