Chapter 55 - JAX BETRAYAL

Meili's eyes locked onto Jax, her heart heavy with betrayal. She had trusted him, and now she realized he had been playing her all along. "That lying piece of... How can I be so stupid, the better question is how did he get past me and back to the village to grab that stuff"

Meili's mind was racing with questions and anger. She felt a surge of adrenaline as she realized she had been duped. She took a step forward, her hand on the hilt of her sword.

Jax looked up, his eyes meeting Meili's. For a moment, they just stared at each other, the tension between them palpable. Then, Jax smiled, a sly, calculating smile.

"Meili," he said, his voice dripping with condescension. "You're so predictable. Typical Iron Fist."

Meili's eyes narrowed. "Fall for what?" she spat, her anger boiling over.

Jax chuckled. "The whole 'I wanna help' act. I knew you'd trust me and end up here."

Meili's grip on her sword tightened. "You're going to pay for this, Jax."

Jax shrugged, his smile never wavering. "I'm shaking in my boots."

The hoodlums moved closer, forming a semi-circle around Meili. She was surrounded, and she knew she had to act fast...

Meili questioned Jax about the goods he was carrying, demanding to know where he got them and who he might have murdered to obtain them. But Jax just smiled skeptically and said, "Well, it's from a little friend I just met not so long ago."

Meili's eyes narrowed, her mind racing with possibilities. "Who is this friend?" she demanded, her voice cold and hard.

Jax chuckled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "You don't have to worry about that, you'll join her soon enough ," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

Meili's grip on her sword tightened, her anger boiling over. "Tell me who," she spat, her voice low and menacing.

Jax shrugged, his smile never wavering. "Enough with the questions.."

Meili's eyes locked onto Jax, her mind racing with possibilities.

"...it's time for you to join the others," Jax said, his voice dripping with malice. The hoodlums closed in around Meili, their eyes gleaming with a sinister intent.

Meili's heart pounded in her chest, her mind racing with the implications. "What did he mean by "the others"? And who was this mysterious friend he mentioned?"

With a fierce determination, Meili raised her sword, ready to take on the hoodlums and get the answers she so desperately sought. But as she looked into Jax's eyes, she saw something there that made her blood run cold...

Back at Meili's household, a sense of unease settled over her parents. Their daughter had returned home just a day before, but now she was nowhere to be found. The silence was oppressive, and the worried glances they exchanged spoke volumes.

Meili's father paced back and forth in the living room, his brow furrowed with concern. "It's been hours," he said, his voice tinged with worry. "Meili should have been back by now."

Meili's mother sat calmly on the couch, her expression serene. "She's a skilled warrior, dear," she said reassuringly. "I'm sure she can take care of herself."

Her father stopped pacing and turned to her, his eyes searching for reassurance. But Meili's mother just smiled calmly and added, "Besides, you know how talented she is. My daughter can handle whatever comes her way."

Just then, a knock at the door interrupted their conversation. Meili's father hurried to answer it, hoping it might be Meili returning. But to his surprise, it was Isabella's dad, standing on their porch with a look of grave concern...

Meili's eyes narrowed, her mind racing with possibilities. She knew she had to act swiftly, before Jax and the hoodlums made their move.

"Enough games, Jax," Meili spat, her voice cold and deadly. "Tell me what's going on."

Jax chuckled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, Meili," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "You still don't get it, do you? You're as dumb as I thought. You're about to die, or you can choose to remain silent and let us plunder the village's resources. But I doubt you'll take that option."

Meili's grip on her sword tightened, her anger boiling over. "Why, Jax? Why here?" she demanded, her voice low and menacing. "You've been the one pulling the strings for this little operation. "

Jax shrugged, his smile unwavering. "Let's just say I'm the one in command, and I won't let our efforts go to waste. So, what's it going to be?"

Meili's eyes locked onto Jax, her mind racing with possibilities...

Meili's gaze locked onto Jax, her eyes blazing with determination. She knew she had to act quickly, but as she looked into Jax's eyes, she detected a flicker of uncertainty, a hint of doubt. It was brief, but Meili seized on it, sensing an opportunity.

"I'll never let you get away with this, Jax," Meili said, her voice steady and calm. "Who's behind this? Who's pulling the strings?"

Jax's smile faltered, and for an instant, Meili glimpsed a glimmer of fear in his eyes. But his expression hardened, and he sneered at her.

"That shouldn't bother you at this point," Jax spat, his voice venomous. "You'll be dead soon, so it doesn't matter. And even if you knew, you'd still be no match for us."

Meili's eyes remained fixed on Jax, her mind racing with strategies and counter-attacks. She knew she had to stall for time, to devise a plan to take down Jax and his cohorts.

The hoodlums closed in on Meili, their swords and daggers glinting in the fading light. Meili stood her ground, her own sword at the ready. She knew she was outnumbered, but she was determined to fight back.

With a swift and deadly motion, Meili struck out at the first attacker, her sword slicing through the air with precision. The hoodlum stumbled back, clutching at his arm as Meili turned to face the next attacker.

But there were too many of them, and soon Meili found herself surrounded, her sword flashing in the dim light as she fought to defend herself. Jax watched from a distance, a cruel smile spreading across his face.

"You should have stayed out of this, Meili," Jax called out, his voice dripping with malice. "Now, you're just a nuisance that needs to be eliminated."

Meili's eyes locked onto Jax, her anger and determination burning brighter than ever.

The hoodlums closed in on Meili like a pack of ravenous wolves, their swords and daggers glinting in the fading light like a scattering of deadly sparks. Meili stood firm, her sword at the ready, its blade shimmering with a soft blue light.

"Water Sword Style," Meili whispered, her voice as calm as a still pond. With a swift and fluid motion, she unleashed the style, her sword slicing through the air

WHOOSH

The first attacker lunged forward, but Meili deflected his strike with a gentle CLINK, using the force of the blow to redirect the attacker's momentum.

As the hoodlums pressed in, Meili's eyes locked onto her next target like a hawk zeroing in on its prey. "Wind Sword Style," she chanted, her voice rising in intensity. Her sword flashed with a series of swift movements striking down one attacker.

The hoodlums stumbled back, caught off guard by Meili's speed and agility. But Jax's taunt rallied them: "Come on, you good-for-nothings, cut her down!"

Meili's eyes narrowed, her focus sharpened like a razor's edge. "Water Sword Style, deflect!" she cried, her sword gliding across the blade of an attacker. The force of the blow was redirected, sending the attacker stumbling backward like a puppet on a snapped string.

With a fierce cry, Meili launched herself at the hoodlums, "Wind Sword Style, whirlwind!" she shouted, her sword slicing through the air again with deadly precision.

SWOOSH SWOOSH

The hoodlums stumbled back, desperate to keep up with Meili's lightning-fast attacks.

Jax watched from a distance, a cruel smile spreading across his face like a dark shadow. "What's wrong, you idiots? She's just a kid." But Meili's movements told a different story – she was a whirlwind of steel and fury, her sword flashing in the fading light like a deadly comet.

Despite her valiant efforts, Meili found herself struggling to land a decisive blow. The sheer number of attackers made it difficult to focus on both defense and offense. She dodged and deflected with precision, but landing hits proved to be a tough issue

Meili's breathing grew ragged, her movements becoming increasingly calculated as she searched for a vulnerable spot in the hoodlums' defenses. She knew she couldn't sustain this pace for much longer – despite her skill, the sheer number of attackers was beginning to take its toll.

The hoodlums sensed victory within their grasp, and their attacks grew more ferocious. Meili's eyes darted between them, her mind racing with strategies to survive the onslaught.

As she parried and riposted, Meili's eyes darted towards Jax, who watched from a distance with an air of detached interest. His smile had grown wider, and his eyes gleamed with anticipation.

Jax's eyes never left Meili's face, his gaze drinking in every detail of her struggle. He seemed to be savoring the moment, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. But then...

Meili's breath came in ragged gasps as she stumbled backward, her muscles screaming in protest. "How much longer can I keep this up?" she thought, desperation creeping into her mind. Her Ki energy was dwindling, her sword styles and counters faltering.

As she attempted to block an incoming attack, another hoodlum struck from an unexpected angle, knocking her sword from her grasp. Meili's eyes widened in alarm as she stumbled back, her exhausted body struggling to respond.

With her last shred of strength, she tried to create some distance between herself and the attackers. But it was too late – they closed in, their swords raised high. Cornered and helpless, Meili spotted a nearby tree and leapt up onto its trunk.

"Oh no..." she whispered, but her footwork betrayed her. She lost her balance, crashing through the branches in a flurry of leaves and splintering wood. Meili plummeted towards the ground, her world spinning out of control...

She landed with a thud, the impact jolting through her battered body. The hoodlums closed in, their triumphant cries echoing through the night air...

As Meili struggled to rise, her vision blurred by pain and exhaustion, Jax stepped forward, his eyes gleaming with satisfaction. "It's over," he said, his voice dripping with malice. "You've fought well, Meili, but in the end, it's not enough."

Meili's gaze locked onto Jax, a spark of defiance igniting within her despite her battered state. She knew she was beaten, but she refused to give in. With a Herculean effort, she forced herself to her knees, her eyes blazing with determination.

But it was too late. The hoodlums closed in, their swords pressing against her throat and chest. Meili's breath caught in her throat as she realized her predicament. Jax's smile grew wider, his eyes glinting with triumph...

"You're finished, Meili," Jax sneered, his voice cold and detached.

Just as all hope seemed lost, a voice pierced the night air, echoing through the trees: "MEILI! MEILI!!"

The hoodlums hesitated, their eyes darting towards the source of the voice. Jax's smile faltered, his gaze narrowing as he turned to face the newcomer.
