Nine AM, Metropolitan Stadium.
In the circular stands, thousands of people entered one after another, and the clamor filled the entire inner arena.
In the VIP section, Wade, like a human crane, easily lifted the petite Jill to the front row.
The surrounding Sisterhood Society members excitedly waved their arms, shouting support slogans in unison:
"Not by crown but by courage, Maeve's girls never abandon!"
"Queen Maeve is fearless, resilient and unyielding!"
Queen Maeve smiled and high-fived the fans in the front row, then waved to the audience around her.
"Maeve looks as beautiful as a Valkyrie descended today," Jill excitedly shook her body, clutching the hand that had been touched, "She truly is my role model and fantasy object."
Wade switched hands, holding her steady again, a little surprised: "Wait, so you're... bi?"
"What, are you jealous?" Jill chuckled lightly, "What's wrong with admiring brave and beautiful people... The key is that Maeve proved that women can also become superheroes by relying on themselves."
The host shouted into the microphone: "Let's welcome Queen Maeve!"
"Maeve... Maeve!"
Maeve sat on a high stool, elegantly crossing her legs.
Sitting opposite her was Anna Bell, a famous female host from National Broadcasting Channel 4. She held a microphone: "Excuse me, what are your thoughts on the recent hot topic of superheroes joining the national defense system? Will the Senate smoothly pass the proposal?"
Maeve pressed her arm down, signaling for silence, her voice echoing throughout the venue: "Anna, with all due respect. We're tired of politicians haggling in air-conditioned Congress while heroes bleed and sacrifice! We're tired of being blocked by bureaucratic procedures like 'protocols' and 'jurisdiction' when our families, our communities need protection!"
"Translucent shouldn't have died in vain. Those terrorists are declaring war on all of us and on national security!
Maeve stood up, her voice suddenly rising:
"They think if they kill one hero, we'll be scared, we'll retreat... They're wrong! I won't retreat, The Seven won't, and Vought won't!"
"Ask yourselves... when a threat comes, do you want a hero whose hands are tied by paperwork and procedures, or a guardian authorized by law, able to protect you wholeheartedly?"
She scanned the audience, raising her arm and shouting: "We need more heroes, we need a powerful protective force that truly belongs to the people! This is for you, for your children, so you can walk safely down the street every day!"
"If the people need it, then they have the right to demand Congress to eliminate those cumbersome and useless bureaucratic procedures and pass the 'Superhero Security Act'... allowing heroes to legitimately and unhindered protect this country! Let every community have its own hero!"
"This is not just a request... it is our inherent right!"
The audience was stirred by Maeve's speech, and deafening cheers and echoes resounded throughout the venue.
"Did you hear that? If the bill passes, Vought will add at least hundreds of superhero positions!" Jill excitedly slapped Wade's arm, "We definitely won't have to worry about finding jobs after graduation."
"Hahaha... you're right! With this momentum, the future is promising." Wade nodded in agreement, scanning the opposite stands, thinking, 'They're just talking, full of righteous ideas, but all they think about is business!'
Maeve nodded slightly amidst the deafening cheers, enjoying her moment in the spotlight.
Suddenly, a blue figure tore through the sky.
Whoosh—boom!
Homelander descended like a deity onto the empty concrete road, slowly rising from one knee.
He smiled and spread his arms, welcoming and enjoying the cheers and endless adoration of the entire audience.
Maeve's lips curled slightly, then she smiled. She looked like a perfect backdrop, watching Homelander with cold eyes.
"Homelander! Homelander!"
"Friends! Are you ready for the game?" Homelander's resonant voice rang out, immediately overpowering the tens of thousands of people's chatter, "Let's give our warmest, most sincere cheers to today's two heroes, to A-Train and Shockwave, who are about to make history!"
Cheers rose and fell, and Homelander walked side-by-side with Maeve, leaving the VIP area, and together they walked up the red carpet steps.
"Finally done with these damn idiots." Homelander waved to the audience with a smile, muttering softly, "Do you have any leads? Have you still not found that bastard shapeshifter?"
Maeve waved and mumbled: "Searched near New York for three days. No surveillance footage, no eyewitnesses. Vanished without a trace, how is this any different from looking for a needle in a haystack?"
"Madelyn said to suppress this for now. After this event... she'll arrange some rescue operations and work on it."
"Madelyn, Madelyn... can't we just talk without mentioning her?" Homelander forced a smile and took Maeve's hand, leaning in to whisper in her ear, "We were together for a while, weren't we?"
Their actions were projected onto the big screen, causing wild cheers from the audience on both sides and below: "Kiss! Kiss!" The shouts rose and fell.
However, Homelander and Queen Maeve merely conversed quietly for a few moments, then separated and waved to the audience.
The camera shifted to the audience. Every time it focused on a screen couple, they would either kiss or gulp down the drinks in their hands, actions that erupted in whistles from the audience.
"Look, it's us!" Jill excitedly pointed at the screen, then immediately turned her head.
Wade had just spotted Butcher and MM in the audience and before he could react, he was unexpectedly kissed, bewildered: "Mmph!"
He was already used to Jill's bold way of expressing herself, and naturally immersed himself in the deep kiss.
Just then, the broadcast announced the entrance: "Welcome the newest member of The Seven, Starlight, and accompanying her, Black Noir!"
Wade opened his eyes and looked over, seeing Starlight with long golden wavy hair, wearing a very revealing V-neck battle suit, waving with a stiff smile from the high platform railing.
He turned his head, wiped the corner of his mouth: "Starlight's here, I'm going to queue up in the fan zone for a photo. What about you?"
Jill reluctantly licked her lips, pointing at the hero steps: "I have to wait for Maeve to leave, then go backstage with the Sisterhood Society members... she's going to specially receive us today."
Wade lowered her from his arm, bending down to stroke her head: "See you later then!"
He turned and squeezed into the crowd, weaving through the packed people like a fish.
Walking through the media area passage, Wade was about to bypass a group of reporters debugging their photography equipment when he spotted Hughie, wearing a press pass, mixed in with the crowd.
'Perfect, I'll have him look for the compound v's hiding place.'
Wade squatted down, pretending to tie his shoelaces, his facial muscles subtly shifting, transforming into an Indigenous person's face.
He stood up and quickly walked over, pressing Hughie's shoulder, calling out familiarly: "Hey! Hughie, long time no see, how have you been lately?"
Hughie put down the camera in his hand, looking bewildered and wary: "Excuse me, are you...?"
"It's me, Chameleon." Wade lowered his voice, using the hug to slip a small glass tube into Hughie's jacket pocket, "Don't make a sound, just listen to me."
Hughie paused, then smiled and patted Wade's back, whispering: "God... what are you doing here? What is this?"
"A-Train's sweat." Wade released him, quickly explaining in a low voice, "After you inject the Shadow Bug serum, you can control insects and use pheromones to track everything A-Train has touched... He must have hidden the compound v, and this is how you can pinpoint its location."
Upon hearing this, Hughie unconsciously touched his pocket, and Butcher's low voice came through his earpiece: "Hughie, listen to him. Give that bug control serum to Frenchie, let him go. You stay outside and keep watch."
Hughie blinked: "Understood... I'll handle it. Keep in touch." He said no more and turned to walk towards the outer exit.
Wade also left the area, put on a volunteer ID badge, and headed towards The Seven fan zone.
