Since Steven had promised her that he would let them go, he probably wouldn't really take their lives. He's not a good person, but he does keep his word. He said he would treat her foot and never broke his promise.
That bit of trust, she still had.
Philip's face changed slightly when he heard her say this. He couldn't help but glance at Aldana, knowing this might be the last time they met in this lifetime. The jealousy and envy in his heart were suddenly overshadowed by reluctance. Before, with his temper, he might have fought for her, tried to snatch her back, but now it's impossible for him to be so shameless.
She likes someone else. If he forcibly took her back and kept her by his side, then for the rest of their lives, there would only be hatred between them.
