Until the evening three days later, after telling Hankie Adams a story, Alice Smith habitually wanted to retreat to her own room.
These past few days, she hadn't slept with Shane Winchester again, even though she wanted to trust him. But she had to admit, it seemed she had never truly seen the man beside her clearly.
But as she stepped out of Hankie's room, she was immediately stopped by Shane Winchester: "Wait."
She didn't even lift her head, only said softly, "I'm tired, I want to rest."
When the words fell, she turned sideways to bypass him, not wanting to say more.
"How long do you plan to avoid me?" Shane Winchester's gaze flickered with hidden pain, as he reached out to grip her wrist, unwilling to let go.
"I'm just tired."
Seeing her unwilling to admit, he didn't force her and instead said softly, "Is there anything you want to know? You can ask me anything."
Alice was slightly startled, finally looking up to meet his gaze, but quickly she said again, "I want to rest."
