Vadim and I made our way back to the Cathedral of Origin. Eizan had taken his father back to where the revived Seven Knights were being kept.
The usual shine in Vadim's eyes was gone. He looked so full of hope.
It hurt to see my mate in pain. His cheerful demeanor faded, and now a shadow of doubt seemed to loom over him.
Before left, Tsuna had asked where we were taking his grandpa. Vadim couldn't answer him.
I glanced at him as we walked into the main room of the cathedral. The place looked better now. The church's staff and Leonardo did a good job patching everything up.
Leonardo was on his knees in front of the statue of the hands of the divine couple. His golden eyes were closed, his brow furrowed, and his lips moving silently in prayer.
The atmosphere around the room felt electric. It was hard to explain, but there was this weird sense of calm, like the whole cathedral was wrapped in a soft blanket.
