The story Yu Suxin told was the polar opposite of the narrative pushed by the Xuan Su Sect. If her account was true, her actions were entirely justified, and the sect's pursuit of her was a grave injustice.
However, Yang Guang was a seasoned leader; he knew better than to believe either side implicitly when it was a case of one person's word against another's.
"You came to me, revealing your dark past... surely you don't expect me to take pity on you and fight your battles?" Yang Guang asked. He didn't believe Yu Suxin could be so naive.
Even if he sympathized with her, he wouldn't gamble the safety of the entire Yang clan to wage war against an equal power for a stranger.
