Chapter 4 - The First Item

After thinking it through, she finally took her first steps into the pawn shop, her first location.

The first item she was looking for is a bow. More specifically, Orion's bow.

Back when she was still a teenager playing the game with limited fundings, the game had a special event on greek mythology since the creator was a big fan of greek mythos.

Orion's bow is one of the most overpowered tools there is. Using the bow has it's downsides, but when the user pairs it with the bronze arrows, the bow becomes extremely lethal even under the hands of a total novice.

Inside the pawn shop was many things, but they were clearly old and not of quality.

Alina walked on the creaking floorboards and touched the dusty surface of a copper sword, inspecting the low quality.

She sighed, knowing how tough it was to sell weapons in a pawn shop. Many novice adventurers probably sold their starter weapons to this poor owner when they grew stronger and needed a better weapon.

This town might be close to the imperial city, but one could see how the people here are being treated.

Just then, she heard footsteps coming from the back room. Sure enough, a man with an unkept appearance walked out as he held onto the glass ball he was wiping.

The man froze, stunned when he saw a girl from the Westlance Academy in his mediocre pawn shop, grazing a dusty copper sword on display.

Embarrassed at his appearance, he immediately greeted Alina and tried his best to fix his appearance and put on his best behavior.

Who knows? This girl might just be one those rich brats wanting to feel good by helping people with a lower status.

"Ahem, pardon my appearance, miss..."

Alina looked at the old man and returned her gaze to the display on the walls.

"Alina. Ashcroft."

The girl replied after a brief quiet moment. She continued to look around, seemingly looking for something specific when the unkept man spoke up again.

"How may I assist you, Young Miss?"

He used a tame and polite tone as he realized why the name Ashcroft sounded terribly familiar.

'The family of assassins and haunting talents...and the youngest miss is in my shop. I must sell at least one thing-!'

"I wish to purchase a weapon. A bow," Alina spoke as she walked towards the man behind the counter. Her dark gaze spooked the poor man and caused him to break out in a mess of sweat and stutters.

"I- I shall show you my finest-"

Alina stopped his sentence with a shake of her head, leaning onto the counter.

"I want to see everything. And I mean, everything."

A few minutes later, after looking through Mishael, the unkept man, and his pawn shop, Alina saw nothing special. However, just as she turned a corner, she saw the edge of an old and worn box peeking out from behind the shelves.

Without Mishael's approval, she approached the shelf and pulled out the box from beneath it. When she opened the box, she saw a large and worn bow that is clearly made from ancient materials.

Seeing it, the girl grinned and nodded approvingly, holding the bow with her left hand.

She tested the bowstring and pulled it, causing the tension to increase stunningly high.

'This is it. Orion's Bow, the greatest bow in the entire game.'

Alina turned to Mishael and nodded, placing the bow back into the box. She was going to purchase the bow that seemed old, worn, and ancient, and it made the man extremely confused.

Why did this girl choose that bow instead of all the others that had better qualities?

Mishael went to the counter and cleaned up the bow and the box before telling Alina the price of the bow as he supressed the urge to ask the big question.

Whatever she needed the bow for was clearly none of his business.

"10 silver coins. 15 and I'll throw in a couple extra arrows and the book containing the bow's strengths."

The man negotiated with a nervous smile as he placed a booklet and two sets of arrows already in separated quivers.

After pretending to think about it, the girl nodded and accepted, hiding the great joy she felt in her head. She watched as Mishael made sure the quiver and box was tidy and proper before pushing it to her on the counter.

He was ecstatic, finally being able to get rid of one old bow and get extra cash from the entire thing. I mean, 10 silver for that old bow? What a steal!

Soon, Alina walked out of the pawn shop with one quiver on her back and the other on her belt. She carried the box to a quiet alleyway and whispered in the air cautiously as she looked back and forth between the exit and the entrance of the alleyway.

"Psst, system! Please tell me you have an Inventory function!" The girl whispered, hugging the box tightly as she kept herself on high alert.

[Yes, host. The system does have the Inventory from your previous game anchor. Please focus on 'pushing' the object into the system panels.]

She did as she was told obediently. She closed her eyes, imagined how the panel was actually bringing her items into the inventory and the box disappeared into the panel.

When she opened her eyes, there was a panel that showed her inventory. So far, there's only the bow in there. When she tapped on the icon of the bow, a description appeared.
