Six woke in a dark void, unable to tell which way was up. But one thing he could tell was that he was on his back. Floating on nothing. He couldn't get any energy to rise; it was as if the void was sapping his strength. As he lay there, he could slowly feel the void crawling up his sides.
As he lay there, he felt the void become disturbed before he heard someone walk over to him. Six didn't even bother to look at the person until the person spoke. Six heard the voice and couldn't believe his ears. It was his voice.
.
"Well, this is quite something, isn't it?" The voice asked Six as it stood beside him.
"..." Six remained quiet as he looked towards the figure, its face hidden by the void, and its body was slightly brighter than the void.
"Well, I suppose that this is where we finally meet face-to-face," The voice said, "Though, it's really more of a heart-to-heart."
"What, are you?" Six finally asked as he stared at the figure.
"Why, that's simple once you think about it," The figure said as it put its hands behind its back. "I'm you, and you're me."
"You're my true self," Six answered when he realized who the figure was.
"Not quite," The figure said as it turned its back towards Six. "I'm your ego, your id, the dark thoughts and those dark responses that you tamp down on. I'm also you at your brightest, your darkest, and that in-between." The figure told Six before turning back towards him. "Now, do you know who I am?"
"... You're all my parts. The good, the bad, and the in-between." Six answered.
"Correct," The figure nodded.
"What now?" Six asked as he still lay.
"Well, that's the thing." The figure then bent down and got into Six's face. "You and I get to decide what you become from here on out. But first, do you remember what brought you here?"
"I remember," Six said as he lay there in the void. "I had a mental break. Realizing what I was willing to do versus what I should have been doing."
"Correct," The figure spoke again. "However, your mental break was something that was a long time coming. Your mind was a mess from the Mojave, and add the fact that the new world with you finding out you have kids; you were ready for a meltdown."
"I know," Six spoke with vitriol.
"Plus, you were also afraid that-" The figure started, but Six cut him off.
"I was not afraid." Six declared.
"No, you were!" The figure roared. "You were scared! The fact that you had biological kids scared you! The fact that you passed your genes down to two kids scared you! So don't lie! I am you after all."
"Fine!" Six screamed back. "I was scared! I was scared that my kids might be like me! A monster! That's all I am! I was willing to plunge the world into a nuclear war just to get back at those who hurt them and their mothers! I was scared that they would resent me, scorn me, or even..."
"Turn on you?" The figure asked.
"Yes..."
"Well, the good thing is that they are currently by your side," The figure told Six. "Wondering what they could do to help you."
"How?!" Six asked as he struggled to sit up.
"I AM you after all," The figure spoke as it stood. "I can feel everything you can. And I can tell that they are currently carrying you to Recovery Girl."
"I see," Six then relaxed but still tried to sit up.
"Don't bother," The figure said. "You are currently too mentally broken to even get out of here. Let alone sit up."
"What?" Six asked, "What are you talking about?"
"This is your mind," The figure sighed. "This void is due to you being a broken mess. Until you fix yourself, you can't even move. Let alone leave."
.
This caused Six to finally understand where he was. This was his mind. This dark void was due to him having a mental break. Being able to even see what was near him was a challenge. The figure was just his mind trying to repair itself. Trying to understand what was happening.
As Six lay there, he focused on trying to see around him in this void. Seeing anything beyond the figure was the first challenge. After what felt like an hour, nothing seemed to change. The figure was still a slightly lighter back against the black background.
Then, without any warning, Six just began to talk. To himself. To the figure. To anything that would listen. Just to talk.
Little did he know that he was on the way to recovery.

[In the outside world]

Izuku sighed after he, Katsuki, Disaster, Christine, and Veronica took Six to Recovery Girl's office. Once inside, they told her about what transpired that led to Six's current condition; she couldn't help but sigh. She began to berate them and told them that he should have been sent to Hound Dog for counseling after the bombing. She sighed again before telling them that there wasn't anything she could do. That it was all up to Six now that he was out.
They were scared, not just for Six, but for the fury that Recovery Girl unleashed upon them once Six was settled in. She may have been small, but her cane hit harder than any words could. Each one of them got a cane to the shin multiple times. Each one seemed to hurt worse than the last one.
After she became satisfied with their punishment, she told them that all she could do was monitor him and report when he awoke. She, however, told them that Nezu would be hearing about this. That scared them even more. Mainly because he would make their hell a whole lot worse than it already was.
Little did they know, war was on its way to their doorstep.
